Nov 2, 2010
I'm trying to unroot my unrevoked-rooted EVO so that I can return it to Sprint.I was able to get the bootloader to go back to "ON" but I am having difficulty getting the PC36IMG file to download.I have been getting the message "Installation aborted." What do you think is the matter?

This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.

My dev phone has a stock bootloader. while upgrading to the official signed-dream_devphone-img-147201.zip image I suddenly received the message a ota update arrived and i accepted it. How wrong i was! Now i have a phone with the bootloader with hboot-0.95.0000 in stead of the 0.95.3000. Strange thing is it still has the test keys. Is there any way to correct this? I see guides for rooting your standard G1 everywhere but i expect that i can't install these images due to the test keys on my device.

I am trying to root my Droid but everytime I hold power and up on dpad it just gets stuck on a black screen. I can tell it is trying to go to the bootloader but it just doesn't go. Do I need to hold the power button while holding the dpad up? I need to know because I dropped my phone in some water a few weeks ago and it screwed my power/sleep button up a little bit.Sorry this question may be such a cluster but I'm just trying to get some tips or information on what to do.

I originally rooted my phone with Unrevoked before Froyo came out(can't recall the version). Once froyo came out, I backed up the phone with clockwork, then flashed over Netarchy's stock rooted froyo(backed up afterwards too). Today I went to the link on the unrevoked twitter page and flashed 3.29 to my phone. I flashed it using the update from SD card option in clockwork. Here's the issue. Afterward my phone rebooted and will not go past the bootloader screen. I'm thinking no biggie, I'll just go back into recovery and load a backup or an older working rom. Well there is no recovery. All I get is the phone with a red triangle. So I'm freaked out and thought, well lets just go back to the stock RUU. Well thats getting an bootloader version error. WHere can I go from here? is there a way for me to get those backups I made loaded from the bootloader screen?

I tried the 2.2 root process. short and sweet is downgrade 2.2 to 2.1. Bunch of command line stuff. Install usb drivers, open program to flash and it reboots the phone, then more command line stuff, then installs custom 2.2 and you are now rooted. I got to where I install the custom usb drivers and open the reflash program. All it does is go to the bootloader and sit there. I said screw it and was going to just reinstall 2.2 and be done with the attempt of rooting until a 1 click type came out. Problems is, now I cant even install 2.2. Sits at the bootloader screen. Called Sprint and they tried to help me do a factory reset by going to the phone app and typing ##87# or something.
When I hit reset it was supposed to show a screen thats wiping and reinstalling or something. Nothing happen. Stuck at that bootloader screen again. So here is what I think happened and I need help fixing it. I installed a newer bootloader or older one or something and the new 2.2 is having a hard time getting past it or I just completely screwed it all up. I am currently on 2.1 and all is working fine but I cant upgrade or anything. What are my options and how do I get this back to 2.2? Would love to try and root it and be done. Or just plug it into the PC and reinstall everything back to factory but I am coming from the iPhone where that is possible and I guess you cant on HTC.

Trying to root my moto droid, following all instructions in the "The All-new Guide to All Things Root-related" thread. However it seems I've found myself a problem that isn't described anywhere i can find. Upon opening RSD and rebooting into the bootloader my computer (Windows XP pro 32 bit) says that its found new hardware: "SE Flash OMAP3430 MI". I've already installed the provided 32 bit drivers for my droid, but it seems the bootloader itself requires its own set of drivers. Tried showing the found new hardware wizard where the droid drivers where located, would not accept them. Also tried the search the internet option, again no luck. Something's clearly amiss...

So I hear there is a new SBF that works with the new bootloader?I have 2.3.15, but I never did the OTA update. What is the easiest way for me to get up to date with the new radio? Currently I have 30.01 bootloader.I read that I can use the FULL 2.2 SBF file to update the bootloader and the more importantly, the Radio. I am wondering however if I need to remove remove Bootstrap or Unroot first? I would imagine I do not, but you can never be too careful, there seems to be alot of misinformation, and I'm digging up posts where some people say the Full 2.2 SBF will not update the bootloader.

I have ran into a issue while trying to root my Droid. I was following the sticky and the first time I used RSD and loaded SPRecovery 2.1 SBF it failed. I got a Critical Error DEA1. I then booted the phone and ran the file again and it completed this time.I have powered down and held X each time and never get past this screen. I then went into the section on putting the stock OS back and I get the same issue. Is there anything I can do? I have been searching the forms, but I cannot find anything.

I just recently updated my phone to 2.2 using the new 2.2 SBF. My phone is running great now after fresh install. I thought the SBF would flash a new bootloader version like the OTA. I think the OTA is 30.03 that changed signatures preventing downgrading. Anyway after I flashed the new SBF I looked at the bootloader version and it was still 30.01. Dose anyone have any info on this?

When all of the leaks were kicking around, I installed the leaked 2.2. I used the 2.1 SBF to restore the phone a couple times during my playing around with various ROMs.When the full 2.2 SBF rolled around, I used that to upgrade to 2.2 rather than accepting the OTA, partly because it was easier to do that than it was to roll back the leaked 2.2, then accept the OTA. However, it looks like, during this process, my bootloader never changed. I'm still at 30.01. Intuitively, I guess this makes sense - you can't update the bootloader from within the bootloader. However, there have been a lot of questions surrounding the new 2.2.1, bricked phones, and bootloader versions. I know the theory is that it's just from wiping data but nonetheless, I'm wondering what my options are or if I need to worry about it at all? Can I SBF back to 2.1 and accept the OTA to get a recent bootloader, since I still have the 30.01 bootloader version? I guess there's little harm in trying since I could always SBF back to 2.2, but I'm just wondering if I'm asking for trouble.

with sprecovery on my phone. I'm trying to force 2.2 but cannot do it through sprecovery for some reason. RSDlite instructions say I must get to a bootloader screen. I cannot because when I hold power and x it goes into the sprecovery/nandroid back up with the Android guy with a ! on him.

I picked up my phone and it had a weird screen on it that looked like some that I saw when people have rooted their phones (from posts). It had options like "bootloader" and "power down" on it so I used the rocker bar to scroll and get out of it by powering down. My question is this: Someone I know was talking about spyware that can be put on laptops and computers and now this happened when they were around. Is this just a glitch or could it be indicative of spyware having been put on my phone?

This is for people that used either of the leak root methods. The engineering bootloader is an unsecured bootloader, and is better in many ways (google it I am not explaining why). Just say its harder to brick with it.Before attempting, please check your md5sums.I want to thank Framework for being my punching back and helping with this. And the desire guy's who's work stuck in my head and gave me this idea (Sorry I forgot who you are!!).
Step 1:
Get follow root tutorials and get amon's recovery installed. If you want to skip installing a new rom after rooting, You can flash EngTools.zip will root your device . If you flash engtools you can skip step 2.
Step 2:
Take a nandroid backup, if you wish as this will wipe your device.

I have tried multiple things, but I'm still stuck at the boot loading screen with the X.
I had cyan 5.0.4. - I wiped and flashed to 5.0.5 and now i cannot get past the boot.
I've tried booting back into recovery and wiping and doing a nandroid recovery to 'amon's recovery 1.7.0' but to no avail.

so all guides have the wording
"If you have a bootloader version 0.75.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.15.xxx.x or below download XXXX
if you have a bootloader version 0.80.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.21.xxx.x or below download ZZZZ"
Maybe I'm missing something, but surely if the first statement is true then the 2nd statement must also be true, and so the first download link could be removed all together? Could a user rooting from 0.75 - 1.15 use the 2nd download link?
I've already rooted, but this has annoyed me since I saw it and just wondered if the 2nd download wording is correct or if it should be reworded somewhat.

I seem to posting a lot here lately .For whatever reason, I've decided to go back from the Custom ROM's I've been flashing to the official "HTC Telstra Froyo" here in Australia.
I've installed HTC Sync, downloaded the official RUU file from the HTC Website, and following instructions ... (Open HTC Sync, select HTC Sync from Connection Drop Box), then running the RUU exe file.
Confirmation screens follow, and it all goes well up until it tries to load the Bootloader in the phone.
The boot splash screen is displayed, but after a few minutes the computer informs me that it cannot load the bootloader.
If the USB cable is unplugged, it displays the bootloader, and the only option given is "RUU".
Plug the cable back in, and it goes straight back to the boot splash screen. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
