View 7 RepliesI have a unlocked unbranded brand new milestone I got couple days ago and it came with 2.0 firmware. So it installed no problems but compared to my nephews droid 2.1 from verizon his has the live wallpaper like mine does, but on his when you hit the screen of the live wallpaper you see the ripple effect but on my I dont.
Also Mines missing the speecn to text also, I dotn see a microphone icon in the virtual keyboard when in a text field, also when he holds the search button at the bottom a speak now command comes up for you to say something, anyone know why Im missing these?
I'm really pissed off right now after seeing this. Why the hell did they put the water indicator at so damn low? Will Sprint take my phone back and swap it for another one? This phone hasn't even fell in water and works fine.

Little progress update....
Got the animated circle working with a switch for ripple on/off,weather and live wallpaper lockscreen support.
I just cannot get the ripple interaction when screen locked. When the movement to unlock is made the ripple appears.
Logcat shows the ripple renderer runs when screen is locked and touched but whilst locked the screen does not display the interaction.....
https:[url]......
I think its possibly phonewindowmanager or keyguardmediator which is stopping the screen displaying interaction until the movement to unlock is made. Any process that links what is shown on screen and interaction when locked (for lockscreen music widgets for example which allow interaction when locked)
So I got my my Touch 3G 1.2. The phone looks mostly clean and everything works fine. However, on the battery there's a tab with red/pink lines criss-cross patterns on it. Does that mean it's been exposed to water?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day I dropped my phone in water and sat there for a while before I noticed. I dried everything out, there was a ot of water under the screen, then turned it back on. Everything seems to work fine but a couple things. It wont connect to the internet, 3G and bluetooth will not turn on. I did the trouble shooting with the verizon tech with no help. So I have a new phone on the way through my insurance but since they are on back order still it may take a while. I need to find a way to get my contacts off the incredible to an old LG dare that I now activated and am using. The incredible will connect via WifF. I went to the verizon store but they couldn't get it to transfer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWell my Ipod fell in water and got short circuited i guess. I want a new change from Apple and I am really looking forward to the android market. I live in Canada, and I am waiting for the Motorola Milestone to come out from Telus. I am a really big gaming fan, and the Android Market dosent have alot of games to choose from ( as I have heard). I like Rock Band for Ipod Touch, and it cant be ported to Motorola Milestone so Im pretty upset. I only have 500mbs per month with Telus . What do you guys think I should do? Get an Iphone to get App store? Or get Motorola Droid for all the specs and Android Market AND a new change (REALLY looking forward too)?
View 34 Replies View RelatedPicked up a tip for other 'wet phone accidents'. Don't use rice and don't put your Phone On, the best way to sort a wet phone is alcohol gel (the stuff used in hospital for your hands). 90% alcohol or more (you can buy that at a chemist or supermarket). Get a resealable bag. Put the alcohol gel in the resealable bag, drop your phone in, minus the battery/sim/memory card and shake it around a bit take/make sure the gel gets everywhere. Leave it a few minutes, bring it out and leave it sitting for a bit. And ok.
I know what your thinking, why wet an already wet phone. Well the alcohol gel evaporates at room temperature, it also more or less eats away the water in the phone. As another tip for water damage, get some scotch tape and put it over each moisture indicator when you return your phone-remove it. This may or may not work, however I don't recommend anyone try it, its just a point of conversation!
My phone dropped from my pocket into the toilet. It was in there for no longer than 5 seconds. I took out the battery and tried to dry everything off. In a panic I turned it back on to see if it would work. I wasn't thinking at all. It started to turn on, then the screen flickered and everything went black. I dried it out properly and it still won't turn on. I've plugged it into the charger, nothing. Is my phone now useless? My mom says will not buy me another phone until the contract is up, in over a year. Is there anything I can do? Or did I completely screw myself?
If my phone is gone, can I still save my contacts and/or pictures?
I have a Droid with Verizon service.
Firmware: 2.1 update1
Baseband: C_01_3E.03P
Kernel: 2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788 android-build@apa26#1
Build: ESE81
I got caught in the rain and my phone quit working. I got a replacement under the insurance program. In the meantime, after the original phone dried out, it started working. However, it seems sluggish. And some applications force close that didn't in the past. Unfortunately I updated a lot of aplicationss so it could also be that the new build of the applications is causing the FC. I'm not an electronics expert so my question is this: Can a phone partially recover from water damage? Or since it started working does that mean that it's good as new? I need to decide whether to keep the replacement or return it and get a refund.
I have an HTC Hero200 that my tenant threw into the pool. I recovered the phone after about an hour or so and figured it was trash. Several hours later it lit up with HTC on the phone. I figured WTH and pulled the battery and left it to dry out. I put it in a bag of rice and left it for several days. I took it apart and wiped the screen, window, and all connectors with alcohol and let it sit open for several hours. When I power it up, it says HTC and every once in a while it briefly shows a butterfly on the display for a few seconds and then reboots.
I am not an android user, but in searching the web figured out how to get it to boot using the power button and volume key. When it comes up is says touch panel fail. When I go th HBoot Mode, it says "no image or wrong image" for all the files it scrolls through. Is it possible for me to recover this phone and use it for a media player and camera?
So I just received my sprint Evo last night and the 4g radio wasn't working. I did the master reset etc., all troubleshooting possible I used to work for data support for a wireless carrier so I was familiar with what needed to be done. I called and after talking to a few people they agreed to send me a replacement, charged my card for the replacement said I would be refunded when they got the other phone back.
So today at work the evo froze. I opened it up and realized that the water indicators for the battery and the phone were showing red. I hadn't even had the phone for a day and it was nowhere near water. I called support and the tech guy I spoke with said that they would just replace the phone and probably wouldn't ask any questions and refund my money. I am just curious if I should be concerned with having to hassle with sprint when they get the phone back. I don't know if this happened in transit or on the manufacturers end. I am also not sure if that technicians word means anything.
so i got an HTC One X and first thing i bout for it was an invisible shield screen protector, so applied the screen protector and after letting it dry i turned my phone on and it seemed to go well but when i go on a white page i can see black streaks and on the bottom there is a big blue strip which i believe is water. The phone however works perfectly fine and i cant see the spots unless im on a white page but it is pretty bad so i was wondering what should i do to get rid of the streaks?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can you tell if your Droid X has water damage?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.
Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?
New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer
I have the seido active case, and I took it off yesterday to check for dust/dirt under it.
When I opened the back cover both the little water check sticker on my phone and battery had red lines criss crossed on them. When I first got the phone I thought they were plain white. I know I haven't got the phone wet.
Today was the first time I ever took the phone out of its case and removed the back cover, its been in a case 24/7 since I got it. I noticed the water damage indicator is white with a pink "checkerboard-type" pattern throughout it. Does this mean when the BB employee put the Zagg cover on with the water that he turned this pink therefore indicating water damage? If so I am going to be upset and what do I do about it? It's not like I can go back to BB now and claim they damaged it, but how can I prove I didnt expose it to water myself (I didnt, I am exceptionally careful with my phones). My phone works completely fine so no problems now but you never know in the future. Any advice?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI can attest to the fact that this works. It even brings the little red x's back. Looks like new. I just tried it on my wife's LG Env3. She washed it a few months back and both stickers (on the battery and the phone) were completely red. Did the rice/oven trick and all was well, no problems whatsoever. Well lately she's been having some battery problems ,her phone has been shutting off randomly at times as if the battery is loosing connection with the phone. No corrosion issues from the wash, I honestly think this issue is unrelated. Well, it turns out that there was a problem with the Env3's battery/connection design and the Verizon rep. was happy to send her out a replacement phone right away. He said a lot of folks had this problem with the Env3. So, then I start thinking, what about those stickers and found this online:Turn Your Cell Phone's "I Got Wet" Indicator from Red back to White

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems with my G2x's this is the 4th G2x I've had. My first one had a short, second one would randomly flash when I didnt even have the camera on and the screen would flicker like crazy, third one gave me the black screen of death were it was just all black and the phone would not work at all. The fourth one I have now is constantly shutting off on me all the time. I called T-mobile and told them that IDK what the problem is... I don't DL anything crazy and I really love the G2x when it works could it possibly be the battery because that is the only thing that is the same with the phones. So they are sending me out a new battery. Fast forward four days battery still isn't here and I am having the same problems and occasionally have to take out the battery and put it back in so the phone will power on. This morning I noticed my phone did not charge at all. So I pull off the back and what do I see under the battery and small amount of moisture and the white water damage indicator is now RED!
My phone has never been in water or near water or in the rain hasnt even rained for weeks and weeks now. The thing is if it truly got wet wouldn't the white water damage indicator on the battery be red too? Because that one is still white. I called T-mobile and asked them and they said I would have to do an insurance exchange. I told them I am not trying to exchange the phone, but when my new battery comes in and if it doesnt solve the turning off problem I don't want to have to pay for a new phone when I never got my phone wet. The lady said well maybe when it gets humid but IDK. You will have to do an insurance exchange which is 130 for a phone I did not get wet. Experience this and never got there phone wet. Are there anymore indicators on the phone that would show maybe it didnt get wet like can I ask them to open the phone so they know I am not lying. I am getting sick of dealing with T-mobile now. I always have to fight with them about my rebates, getting phone replaced, bogus charges, ect... Now water damage for non-water damage phone.
my s4 was accidentally rained on for only a short period of time and was working other then it telling me i had head phones plugged in but that was no big deal. then the screen started to flash green and now won't show any picture. the phone is still working i have the little blue light flashing because i have unread msgs and the main button works just not the picture and im guessing the touch part of the screen. i have photos of my new born son on there that i wish to retrieve. when i plug it into the computer it recognises the phone but in the photos folder it only has screen shot pics not my camera pic's. would these photos be saved to anywhere else on the phone or on the sim. is there any other way to retrieve these photos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've created a custom toolbar using a gradient inside a shape. It looks very nice, but since we only have the option for 3 colors (startColor, centerColor, endColor) it looks very round. I would like to do a glass effect, which requires a sharp change in color in the middle. Basically I need 4 colors (startColor, justabovecenterColor, justbelowcenterColor, endColor). Now I could have two shapes sitting on top of each other to get this effect, but I don't want to do this. I'm getting into some tricky UI customization here and that would be very difficult to manage on different sized screens.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was interested in making a springy-bouncing effect for ListViews similar to one in iphone.I wanted to make sure about a few things before implementing it.
1). Does Android provide this feature somewhere in the new Donut version thats coming out?(so that i don't have to re-invent the wheel)
2). Do Google plan to add this feature in any future versions of the SDK?
I am looking for Deep effect in Android gallery. i did some work around coverflow at http://www.inter-fuser.com/search/label/Coverflow but it also do scroll left and right. it does give me the idea to calculate offset top and left for each item separately but still there is no access. what i am trying to do is, when user scroll, images would scroll from deep behind the right edge to center and then to left side deep behind.i am wondering if anyone have some thought about arranging the imageView's on deep offset (something like V shape ) rather than on horizontal as it is.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthere seems to be a dead-lock problem when using sound effects with SoundPool. I was hoping the the problem would be fixed in the new firmware update, but unfortunately, it was not. The application still locks up after couple of minutes when playing sound effects using SoundPool. My application is a game playing a background music scenario with multiple simultaneous sound effects. Any word from devs as when we can expect stable SoundPool would be very welcome.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI found an interesting tip over on the Tmobile forum that helped me out. I seam to get a real strong halo effect in my pictures from any light source, that blows out large parts of the photo. Most likely you have touched the camera lens while changing the battery or fooling about with the phone. Solution clean the camera lens and the inside and outside of the back cover. It is still far from great camera but, man, made it a whole lot better. All this time I thought it was just the crappy camera.
