HTC Desire :: Vibration On Startup And Shutdown
Nov 3, 2010Does anybody know of a "patch" or indeed an ADB shell command that will enable me to disable the pointless (to me anyway) vibration on startup and shutdown. I am rooted with S-ON running stock Froyo with a "few little" mods applied such as rosie drag n drop and trackpad wake. Please don't suggest I install a full custom ROM as I dont want to do this just to get vibrate off. It seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Surely if I can issue a command in ADB shell to disable startup sound (which I have successfully done) then there is a command to disable startup and shutdown vibrate??? Logically that must be the case? There must be somewhere in the startup/shutdown code that tells the phone to vibrate. I would be very,very,very,very grateful if anyone can point me towards a solution other than a full custom ROM install. For now I want to carry on running stock Froyo with my little tweaks. I am looking for a "tweak" such as a zip file or shell command.

there's a few processes that are always running, that turn themselves on, which i infrequently use. a couple examples are Voice Search and Skype, which when I ended processes for, freed up a significant amount of memory and 4 processes. I'd like to be able to set them up something akin to what windows will do, where they are on manual startup, and only start when app is called on. I still want to use the apps, just don't want background processes running constantly.

I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Dec 17, 2009Is there any way to get an app to run at startup? There is a volume control app (ladybug icon) that I use to keep my ringer volume always at vibrate. When I accidentally hit the volume rocker, the app returns the ringer to vibrate. However, I must remember to run the app when I restart the Droid. So, is there anyway to have it run when the Droid powers on? Or is that something that would have to involve rooting?

Feb 22, 2012In cm9-alpha, I have some apps that should run on startup: Smart Rotator, LBE Privacy Guard, Plug In Launcher, and probably some others. They don't.
Now, some apps start on startup: my alarm program comes to mind.
There were two problems. One is that one app, LBE Privacy Guard, refuses to start for some reason. The second problem was that I had sync turned off, so I thought other programs weren't starting. The hack/workaround for this is to use Llama to start LBE on startup, then to run the Android Intent that shows the desktop, then to kill Llama (because there's no reason to keep it running). Note that when setting up this profile, you *cannot* test it before saving it. Otherwise, llama will kill itself and the action list won't be saved.
LBE has been fixed. But I've noticed that after restoring apps from titanium backup, they don't run on startup. I think they need to be run manually once so they register their hooks with the OS. After running applications manually once, they do run when they're supposed to.

Aug 29, 2010This in regards to its vibration function. due to the rather soft tone of its sound (to me at least) sometimes when my phone is ringing from a message, i tend to NOT notice that a message comes in. so i use vibration , but the thing with hand cent vibration is the vibration is a one time thing only. a message comes in, it vibrates once, and thats it.. but the ring tone goes on and on.. fiddling with the vibration settings in hand cent did not help. what i want to do is make my desire vibrate a lot more times than just
once.. is this possible?

Feb 23, 2010Somehow my vibrations have all gone away. I made sure the vibration effect is set to normal, which it is. It must have been an app I installed that disabled it. Currently using Open Home with Hero skin, weather widgets, and Swype keyboard. Anyone have this issue or is something I can easily fix in the settings?

Feb 19, 2014I want to develop a Vibration Analysis application. I want to use it to measure the vibration in an Elevator so one can analyze the riding comfort.
First, the phone will be put on the flooring in the middle of the cabin, the measurement should be along the Elevator's total travel (up to 1min ride) and at least following to 2 axis (X and Y, if I can measure following Z too, it will be great). Once those data are captured during this 1min, I want to plot them on a separate graphs (first graph: X position vs time, second graph: Y position vs time). Also, I might add the feature of measuring the elevator speed while traveling inside the cabin.
My questions are:
1- Can I get the data that I want only from the accelerometer? or I should use the gyroscope and the digital campus as well?
2- Can the accelerometer (on Samsung Note 2 for example) detect small vibrations? like ones that occurs in an elevator (around 15 m-g)

I have a few apps I use for work and would be nice if they autostarted on my Droid without having to launch each one independently.

HTC Incredible :: Strange Sound After Startup
Aug 22, 2010I am experiencing a weird problem. On startu,p while the notification bar is displaying "preparing sd card" and "preparing phone storage" a strange tone is played. It sounds like a ringtone preview...but it doesn't sound pleasant. It makes you believe that there is an error somewhere, but there is no verbal notification. I recently updated several apps at once and installed a new one. I thought this may be the problem, but I still have the sound after uninstalling new app.

Android :: Emulator Hanging On Startup?
Jun 23, 2010I've been modifying/editing parts of the Android platform, but have run into a problem when trying to test my edits. After making my changes to the platform source, I was able to successfully compile the source - thus creating system.img, ramdisk.img, and userdata.img. When I go to test this in the emulator, the emulator just hangs on the "ANDROID_" screen, with the underscore blinking, but never seems to load. Any suggestions? The command I used to run the emulator is as follows:
./emulator -system $HOME/android/platform/out/target/product/generic/system.img -ramdisk $HOME/android/platform/out/target/product/generic/ramdisk.img -data $HOME/android/platform/out/target/product/generic/userdata.img

May 1, 2010I have Listpreferences in my app. They don't appear to be setting to their defaults right after installation - they appear to be null. I'm trying to figure out why my default preferences are not being set right after installation.
In my main code I have:

Right after the above code executes, each variable contains "defValue" instead of the actual values I have assigned in my ListPreference below.
My preference xml file is called, "settings.xml". Here's what one of the ListPreferences there looks like:

When I go to menu, and then settings, I can see my defaults checked (radiobuttoned). Then when I go back from the settings menu to my main screen - all is well - for life! ...then each var above is assigned the proper default value.
This only happens when I first install my app on the phone. After I go to the settings screen once and then right out of it, the app is fine and accepts any setting changes.
By the way, as you can see, "List1" is the android:key within a file called settings.xml in my res/xml folder.
