View 1 RepliesI have a Moto Android, when it sleeps, if I hit the silver camera button on the lower right, it wakes up... Great, it makes it easier.But, I switched phones because my screen craked. We had an extra one when a family member bought an IPhone. But this phone does not wake up when I push this button. Same phone, same software, same OS. Why the difference?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to wake the phone by pressing the trackpad button. (like the iPhone's home button, just converted ) I've looked around and can't seem to find a way to set this. I tried the "lockbot" app someone had recommended but it did more then i wanted and still didn't seem to enable that button to wake the phone. Any ideas?
View 49 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of any way to get the Incredible to wake up by pressing the optical trac-pad on the front instead of the power button up top?
I find the power button to be annoying and wish both would "wake-up" the screen.
Is there a way to use the optical mouse to wake my phone up as opposed to using the top button?

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change which button wakes up the phone? It's the power button by default and I would love to also make the optical round button do the same thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is another way to wake up the screen besides pushing the power button every time? Is this an Android thing? I believe my roommates Droid does the same thing. I think there are similar threads for this I just suck at searching this forum So are there any alternatives to waking up our screens on the Evo without using the power button every time?
View 49 Replies View RelatedCurrent iPhone owner thinking about making the switch to the Verizon Nexus One. I have a concern about the usability of the power (wake) button on the top left of the Nexus One that I haven't heard anyone else mention so perhaps it isn't as big of an issue as I anticipate. Basically my concern is that the hand position and motion required to wake the device using that button is not the same position you want your hand to be in to use the phone. For example, with the iPhone I wake my device with the bottom "home" button that is on the face of the device and then I can very quickly just move my thumb up to swipe-to-unlock without having to reposition the phone. It seems like this would not be possible with the Nexus One given that there isn't a wake button on the face of the phone near the bottom.I'd really love to hear from current Nexus One owners. Is this not the usability issue that I am making it out to be? Do you just adjust and find a new way of quickly waking and then swiping to unlock the phone that is just as comfortable and efficient as with the iPhone? If so, what do you do?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a HTC Legend, and still getting through the n00b curve. I have tried Googling much as I can and now learned to live with issues such as no task manager and inability to actually terminate applications after use. Contrary to my old school Windows mentality I am going to trust the OS to manage the RAM and Battery. Better hold up!
Now I have let that issue go, I was wondering is there anyway to change the wake up key from power button to any other button. This is when the phone goes to sleep and to wake up I'd like to be able to press the Home button and get the screen to light up again. I have gone through preferences and was unable to find anything to change this. Any help please?
I would need to wake up my camera when i click a button on my App. After that it takes a picture and save it to the sdcard and display the path of that image as Toast? How can this be done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 and I want to use the volume rocker as the power button to wake the device when it's in sleep. That's because sometimes the volume rocker is more accessable to me than the wake/sleep button. I know the app for this is tasker. Now here is the basic plan:
If the screen is off + VOLR changes (up or down) >> Screen on.
My problem is with the function that checks if the Volume has changed. I tried several things but nothing worked. Is my idea possible without a rooted device?
One thing i envy on the iPhone is that it has a real button for 'Home' so you can wake the phone up from sleep by pressing it. Its 10000% more convenient than going up top to the lock/sleep button (especially on the droid which feels kinda awkward to get to) So my question is, are there any apps out there, or any settings, that will make it so i can wake up my phone by pressing either the volume rocker or the camera button or maybe something that keeps the home key awake?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen my screen times out after 1 min. I have to press the on / off key, to wake up.
Is there a way to assign this to the menu button?
Is there anyway that you can get the screen to "wake" from just touching one of the softkeys and then enter the screen unlock pattern, rather than having to use the dedicated lock button on the side?
It's pretty annoying, especially if the phone is lying on the table and u just wanna look at the screen you cant just mash one of the softkeys.
Does anyone know if it's possible to move the "wake" functionality from the Power button to the Volume rocker? It seems to me that it's much easier to reach the volume buttons I only have one hand on the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust curious, I have my phone set to time out after 2 minutes. Is pressing the lock button on top the only way to wake it up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNoticed this happen about 2-3 times since I got the phone on launch day... In fact, it just happened again. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem.I've noticed sometimes when I leave my phone alone (standby, screen turned off, etc) and try to wake my phone, the phone does not power back on at all. And yes, battery still has a good amount of charge left.I can press the power/wake button but no response. No unlock screen, nothing. I hold the power/wake button and it does not boot either. Only a battery pull will allow the phone to boot go back to normal again.Anyone have this problem before?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDon't know if this was ever posted, never saw it. If you want to be able to wake your phone with the trackpad, go to the market and get "No Lock". Its an app to disable the slide down to unlock. Well I found out that the trackpad will now wake the phone. Just click the trackpad. No need for the top button. Also the side buttons will wake the phone. So if you keep your phone in your pocket be careful.

View 1 Replies View Related1) I can press a button to 'wake' up the phone to the lock screen, but I may have to press a button 2 or 3 times to wake the phone up. it seems like it's not waking up correctly and on the first button press.
2) Twitter and other notifications 'sometimes' dont happen until I unlock the screen...this COULD be coincidence, but I thought I would throw it out for people.
3) I didnt get a voicemail given on Friday until today, which appeared as a result of me switching off my phone and switching it back on. has anyone else heard of this???
4) I cant figure out a way to stop apps from starting on bootup, such as peep? I use twidroid, so dont need two apps running of the same ilk?? Any help here?
Thanks in advance guys.
I am using the factory Alarm Clock on my Inc. It works okay but if my phone is off, the alarm will not wake up the phone and sound alarm or at least the alarm going off would work for me.
On my BB Curve even if the phone was off the alarm would go off at the set time and the phone would turn on. Kinda nice, only downfall is only had 1 alarm where as Inc has a few.
With the marginal battery life on this thing I sometimes turn it off to charge when going to sleep at nite and do a few bumps in the morning. Problem is the alarm doesnt go off if the phone is off.
IF the factory phone alarm does not do this does anyone know of one that does? Perhaps in Market?
Is the track ball supposed to wake up the phone?

View 48 Replies View RelatedHaving issues on our phones to where the Lotus Notes Traveler application will not notify the user that there is new mail until he/she "wakes" up the phone by pressing the power button on. It only happens after the phone has been on for a day or so.Once the power button is pressed that turns the screen on, tons of new mail will come in. Almost like that it doesn't see a data connection until it is turned on.SMS messages and phone calls work fine. "Always On Mobile Data" is set to ON.Also, everything in the application is set to 'Sync all the time'Any ideas what it could be? It seems that the data connection is not notifying the phone until the screen gets turned on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while the screen will stay black and the power button will have no effect on the phone. Even if i was just on it, Yes its fully charged. But if someone calls me the phone comes out of its "locked up / sleep state". I was curious as to why it does this. Im going to basic training in about a month for the army and was told to bring my phone as to the DS can choose to let me use it or not. Id hate to not be able to use my cell if i bring it.
I am using CYanogenmod 7 Rom.

I have a service which holds on to a wakelock and the code is similar to this,
public class WakeLockService extends Service {
PowerManager.WakeLock wl;
@Override
public IBinder onBind(Intent arg0) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub return null;
} public void onCreate() {
PowerManager pm = (PowerManager) getSystemService (Context.POWER_SERVICE);
wl = pm.newWakeLock (PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK, "My Tag");
wl.acquire();
} public void onDestroy() {
wl.release();
}
For past two days, my phone has been restarting randomly. Today it was worse, it kept restarting until I uninstalled the app. I tried to search about this behaviour online and found that too many wakelocks may coz the phone to restart. Can there be any other reason? Is the above code right? Should make wl as a final variable? Does the service call onDestroy method when phone shuts down? I am using a broadcastreceiver to start my service at boot up as well.
