First happened a few weeks ago. I was sending out a mass text and it forced closed and I lost all my messages. Its been happening ever since every few days randomly when I send a text. Anybody know what the reason for this could be? Its the stock text messaging app.

I have the droid incredible and I use the handcent app for my text messages. Everytime I try to delete my messages from the inbox, the app force closes and when i go back to the app, it'll keep force closing until I shut the phone down. When I turn the phone back on, all my messages are still in the inbox. How I can erase the text messages from my inbox?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had a Sprint HTC Hero for a while and I absolutely love it, but when my messages get over only a couple 100 or even less, I will be sending a message or reading one and the messages app will force close and then when I come back to my messages, they are all deleted. I also often have to restart the phone just to get the messages to work again. At first I just thought of this as a way the hero refreshes itself, but I have been missing things and losing messages all the time lately and it is bothering me.

It was one thread of about 15 that were saved in my phone from people I communicate with on a regular basis. The phone froze up for about a minute, then message force closed. Opening up the messages app again reveals All of my threads have been wiped clean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding syncing and g mail. I have only had the phone for a few hours, and I love it, but I am a little frustrated. I have setup my Google Mail, Contact, and Calendar and everything works great until I try to delete a goggle mail from my phone. When I delete the msg from the phone, it deletes the msg from the g mail server. I DO NOT want this to happen. I have looked into g mail and the settings, along with the settings on the phone. I have also tried to create filters, and I still have the same results. Is it possible to only do a "one way" sync? I do not want to lose msgs off my g mail. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just missing something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my Evo last Fri at Best Buy. Since my wife's line was eligible for the upgrade, I used her upgrade. Best Buy did the swap to get the Evo on my line. However, afterwards, we found that both our saved voicemail msgs got deleted and both our VM mailbox got reset. Had to set a new pwd and greeting.
I called Sprint today and they said that anytime you upgrade to a smartphone, your VM will get reset. Nobody told us this. There's nothing they can do to recover. My wife lost a couple of important msgs and is not very happy.
Anyone else have this happen? Is Sprint's explanation correct? I thought VM would just transfer over.
I tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)

They gave me a new one and haven't had the problem.until yesterday. At least twice a day now, since yesterday, i get a message saying: The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...so i hit Force Close and then it just stays on a blank black screen so i hit the home button and hit messaging again and it pops up again. I take the battery out and that works for a few hours but then it just happens again...i don't wanna take this one back again and get a new one.I mean i have anti-virus (i dunno if it's good though lol) so I don't think it could be an app...i use the standard Messaging app that came with the phone, not Handcent or something else.will someone.I searched but they all seemed to be for different phones, not the droid.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that whenever I introduce some new awful bug to my app and it crashes, Android just keeps starting it up over and over again. I eventually have to hit the dial button on the phone just to make my app lose focus. I searched this group's posts and the developer documents.I can't find anything about this. Is this usual behavior? If so, is there some way to disable it? Maybe it's just my coming from a desktop background, but I kind of think that when something is closed, it should stay closed, especially if the reason it was closed was that it crashed. And of course, I hope my final app never force closes, but with all the different hardware you never know.
