View 1 RepliesI know most of you probably check your texts pretty quickly and I do too but I was in a meeting one day and received a text.My phone was not turned on once during the hour long meeting yet when I turned it on for the first time after the meeting I noticed the battery had drained nearly 10%.Turns out I received a text about 15 minutes into my meeting and upon looking at Spare Parts I noticed that Handcent kept my phone awake for 45 minutes.the amount of time it took me from receiving the text to reading it.I then thought it was because I had the pop-up option enable.no go.After turning that off it is still keeping my phone awake. Can anyone else replicate this issue? I had my wife send me a text and then waited a few minutes to check it and then checked Spare Parts for the Partial Wake Usage.
View 21 Replies View RelatedMany of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.
does battery status pro drain your battery life?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone with Android 2.1. I'd like an app which shows the battery level in the notification bar. Nothing fancy, no estimation of remaining battery life nor fancy eye candy. If it can show a more precise reading than the Milestone built-in one, which only decreases in 10% intervals, fine, but only if this isn't a drain on the battery. I know there are several such apps, but which do you think is the best for my needs? There are so many it's hard to try them all and choose. I just want something basic and simple which doesn't drain the battery. I tried "battery indicator" and "battery status pro"; they both do what I need, but I'm afraid they might be an additional drain on the battery.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, its been about 32 hours with my EVO...and im loving it.
I admit, the battery worries me a bit. However, some commonsense things (and not so common sense, like the GSM/CDMA battery life change) have really helped. Task Manager seems to be the best overall task killer app, and keeping background data on but auto sync off seems to be a nice happy medium for syncing.
The major, MAJOR battery drainer? Google Maps/Navigation. The perfect argument for a car charger that can EVER be made. Ye gods.
So I unplugged it from my charger at 11 this morning. As of right now at 6:43 pm i have 41% battery left, have been fiddling with it for about half of that time, and turned disabled the data connection while i was in low signal areas during a short road trip.
Moderate use of Yahoo Messenger, texting, a few 5 minute phone calls, the occasional manual update of the Seesmic twitter client and a few other things have drained it a little bit...but a 5 minute stretch of Google Navigation? Did the most damage to the battery, knocked it down by 7 percent. Again...car charger. Need this soon. Anyone know of any reliable ones?
Other than that, great phone. Versatile, and I'm looking forward to the day that Android 2.2 comes to us for even more battery efficiency. Please feel free to ask me anything about how I have things set up, constantly trying new things out on this!
So, i have tried most of the battery fixes on the forums, but my battery drains super fast. disabled talk, did the cdma fix, closed all possible running apps, turned off autosync and the battery still drains. It drained 35% in 30 minutes on airplane mode. I have the battery indicator app installed and the current temp is almost 45 celsius. Is this too hot? My phone is currently charging.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that this has been covered numerous times, under numerous various situations, but I am hoping I just missed something.I've had my Evo for about 2.5 weeks now, and love everything about it, except the battery (obviously). I expected about the amount of battery drain that I'm seeing from day 1, but the thing is, with all things equal, I was getting better battery a week ago.Basically, I followed several forums and tips that help to alleviate battery drain. I turned things off, tweaked update freqencies and other settings. I conditioned the battery in the manner that was suggested by HTC as well. After doing this, I was getting about 22-24 hours of battery with normal daily usage. All of a sudden, about 7 days ago, I went from 22-24 hours to about 10-12 (if I'm lucky). I realize that adding certain apps can cause things to go awry, however, I have deleted everything I had installed since realizing the excessive battery drain and I'm still getting drain. At times it appears that the phone isn't sleeping, however, when I look in settings, it's difficult to tell what is keeping it awake.Normally , this wouldn't bother me, because I kind of expect this kind of battery life, however, knowing that I can easily acheive 20 hours and not getting it is killing me.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIf I have Gmail set to autosync, but have 3G (and WiFi and 4G) turned off, does this drain the battery when it tries to sync, or does it just not sync? I'd rather not have to manually turn off all syncing when I want to go off the network for a while.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed when I have GPS on but am not in an app that uses it, there is no GPS icon in the status bar. When I go into Google Maps, for example, then the icon appears.
Does this mean that when it's not being actively used, it isn't really "working" and thus not draining the battery, or at least not by much?
I just recently rooted my phone, but don't have the latest OTA Update, Just some background info.
I installed Launcher Pro which I love for the customization and look of it, I honestly do not want to get rid of it. I used Home Screen(haven't Uninstalled) to switch my default launcher to Launcher Pro. I pretty much don't have any widgets besides a calendar widget I've always used and the default android weather widget and BatteryLeft Widget and it seems my battery drains in literally 4 hours.
I read up some where and figured that the sense UI is still running in the background, and I set it to clear state so it have no widgets running either but the phone still has a terrible battery life.
I'm just really confused how some people have launcher pro and it doesn't drain their battery's at all and I have it and every 3 hours I have to replug my phone back in. I've been trying to figure this out but I can't think of anything and was wondering if other people have had this same problem a and have a solution..
If you need anymore information on what apps I have running and what widgets please let me know.
For some reason my battery drained extremely fast while it was idle. My phone had about 50% left and an hour later it got all the way down to 14% without any usage. Wifi was on and I didn't get any notifications. I know there are background processes but to have that much battery drained is really strange.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this weekend was my first real world test using the GPS turn by turn for a long car ride (about an hour). I had everything all set plugged in and started the music player (not Pandora) running in the background while the GPS was displaying on the screen. I also had the bluetooth synced to the car. To my surprise, the battery started to drain. It was pretty slow but after about an hour around 5-10% of the battery drained even while plugged in. Do you think it is my after market car charger from monoprice (For only $1.46 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Motorola V8, V9 Series Car Charger for RAZR2 | Motorola It has been working great in the car for about 2 weeks with Pandora playing and bluetooth.
Anyone else experiencing battery drain while plugged in the car using GPS? I think I read someone having a similar situation but with the Verizon charger. I am also using the stock battery. If not, please let me know which car charger you are using with a link if possible. I can't continue using this one if there is one out there that will keep me charged in the car.
Ive currently installed 3g watchdog and droid stats. Im worried one of them is draining my battery but they are essential to me. Ive also seen there are a few more:

I went to a local Verizon store and very nicely and jokingly ask for the expert on the android OS. I ran into a previous blackberry and current droid user. I explained that i know there are things running in the background (services, and apps that I don't need). But i don't want to stop the necessary services that HTC and android OS needs to remain running.
I showed him, I stopped Gtalk and maybe one other services. I then downloaded Advanced Task Killer. I saw 15 apps running in the background..DAMNM!!!. I closed all of them , the phone will open what it need or what you use. After that , I more than double the use of the batteries. I love the phone , but I really feel alot better about the better drain. I hope this helps. I am now using live wall paper, playing with it alot more

What's the best (read: most efficient) way to drain the battery? this is after a new kernal or ROM and during a battery recalibration. I'm thinking WiFi off, GPS on, even better, searching for a signal; screen brightness at 100%, no auto dim; lots of apps in task manager; streaming internet video.
I can leave 4G on, with no 4G coverage within 50 miles of me that should suck some more power. I thought the vibration buzzing might be a pretty decent power hog, but a) not sure how to make it stay on, and 2) not sure I could put up with hearing it for that long.
