I'm interested in this phone for use with ViewRanger - a GPS app and my question is .....If I switch off everything apart from the GPS and an app that uses GPS, how long would a fully charged battery last?

Just installed SkyRaider 2.5.2 yesterday and radio 2.15. Using Launcher Pro+ and updated the notification bar to have the circle indicator. The charge took almost five hours. (Which I see is a common thing). However, when I unplugged my phone from charging this morning (9+ Hour charge) the battery went from 100% to 93% in about five minutes. It seems like I am losing 1% every minute or so until I reach 93%. Then it kind of stays steady. CPU clock is running constantly at 600 MHz+.

View 7 Replies View RelatedGot my Desire HD at the weekend, and am really struggling with the battery life, I don't use the phone much at all, couple of calls (less than an hour) checked facebook a couple of times, a read about 5 emails. Charged overnight and then by 9pm last night it was on its last legs telling me to plug it in! I have turned the apps to sync manually under settings-accounts & sync. Already used nearly 50% off the battery today and I haven't even used the phone!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed that my Desire is heating up when Im internet browsing and the battery drains very quickly (100% to 10% in 1.5hour). Strange, because when Im not browsing the battery lasts for 2 days long. It happens only when I use it for a heavy Internet browsing or Market browsing (when it uses heavy data transfer). I use an unlimited data plan in Brazil. It occurs when I use the Wifi too. I looks like when Im tethering, but Im not.
Can it be something about processor clock control? Ive upgraded to 2.2 recently.
Has anyone else noticed their battery drain being even worse with Froyo? I used MyBackUp to restore settings but power is plummeting now.
View 5 Replies View Relatedin spare parts, under other usage, My Wi-Fi on and Wi-Fi Running percentages are ALWAYS the same... right now sitting at 99% each. Surely Wi-Fi on should be at 99%, but Wi-Fi running should be considerably lower since I don't have any form of auto sync or location based things on.I can keep my phone on for 12 hours, Wi-Fi enabled, and Wi-Fi running is always full, at 99 odd percent. Nothing is using the wi-fi, even when i choose to forget my wifi details so there is no connection. I suspect it may have something to do with the root process "0" under Network usage under Battery history in spare parts. I'm thinking it's keeping my Wi-Fi active and draining my batt, even if it's not pulling any data.I've completely uninstalled every app (except spare parts), wiped cache and dalvik, put phone on Aeroplane mode, nothing changes. Facebook app isn't updated to 1.3 or 1.3.1 either.Really at wits end as to why my Wi-Fi is "running" at 100% all the time.Here are my details: HTC Desire rooted with Clockwork from latest Unrevoked. Rom is Official Sense + Froyo from OpenDesire Team v1.0c
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo, after getting rid of my iPod Touch and a lovely Sony Ericsson Elm, I'm in the possession this beautiful device. I've been currently using this device as my main music player as well, it seems very good (apart from no equalizers).
The problem is, the music player seems to drain the battery pretty fast. I've been searching around and people have said to have gotten max 7 and a half hours on a full battery? Compared to even the iPhone 3g, which I know is UP TO 24 hours, but that doesn't ever mean you'll get full time, probably 15 or 16 hours, thats very poor.
Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone with Android 2.1. I'd like an app which shows the battery level in the notification bar. Nothing fancy, no estimation of remaining battery life nor fancy eye candy. If it can show a more precise reading than the Milestone built-in one, which only decreases in 10% intervals, fine, but only if this isn't a drain on the battery. I know there are several such apps, but which do you think is the best for my needs? There are so many it's hard to try them all and choose. I just want something basic and simple which doesn't drain the battery. I tried "battery indicator" and "battery status pro"; they both do what I need, but I'm afraid they might be an additional drain on the battery.

Usually I could leave my phone overnight with wifi and mobile web etc switched off and the battery would drain by a maximum of a couple of percent but now it's losing 25% of its charge overnight with nothing running. Looking at the battery usages since unplugged 3% is phone idle, 4% cell standby and 93% maps!! I haven't even used the maps for a couple of days so what could be causing this? The only apps I've downloaded in the last couple of days are WordUp!, Air Control Lite and Shopping List manager.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI plugged in my phone at roughly midnight last nite.. when i woke up i checked my BatteryIndicator app and it said it had been fully charged since 12:52 am... somehow i think that that cannot be right... full charge in a single hour?
I just looked at my SystemPanel app to check the usage history and it showed this...
At 10:52 i took a screenshot that shows that my battery had gone down from 100% at 7:28 when i unplugged it, to 59% (see picture below).. I had light-moderate usage during this time as the following picture from SystemPanel will show.. the phone was inactive for a while (blue) and the CPU was only a little active, about 10%(bottom Green) yet the battery still was draining pretty rapidly...
This picture shows that the first 30 mins ate 5%-10% of my battery..
- I have animations off
- No live backgroung
- I have changed my radio from GSM auto (prl) to CDMA auto (prl) <- that eliminates the cell standby battery usage by elimitating the time without a signal (used to be 20%, now its 1%)
- I have only the mobile setting on (GPS, 4G, Bluetooth, Hotspot are all off)
Basically i have turned off all the settings that make this phone better then my Treo 700WX
So yesterday was the first day I used my Hero "officially". I took it off the charger at about 10am and by around 7:30pm it had about 20% left. Not fantastic, but it seemed ok. Last night, I charged it via USB (forgot the charger part) and this morning when I went to take it off the charger, I noticed it was completely dead. I switched it over to another USB cable and after a minute or so, I was able to boot it up and get it going again. I was only able to let it charge for about an hour before I had to leave and go to class, so when I took it off this morning it was around 52%. I didn't do much with it on the way or during class, simply tried stream a little music via subsonic (only for about 10-15 minutes) and sent maybe two text messages. Getting to class (the phone had been off the charger about an hour at this point) I was already at 46% and by the end of class I was at 22%. A quick trip to Wal-Mart for a spare charger and the battery was below 10%. From taking it off the charger to finishing at Wal-Mart was about a span of 2:30 hours. Draining over 40% of my battery in a couple of hours when the phone was mostly idling with the screen off seems absolutely ridiculous. I have the phone overclocked with SetCPU which is set to go from 245 to 710 when it's above 30% and when it's below, it clocks itself down to something like 195 and 490. When the screen is off, it's 125 or so to 245. About midway through class I killed SetCPU just to see if that was my problem, but it didn't appear to be as my battery seemed to drain just as quickly. I don't use a task killer extensively, only to check what applications are running in the background and maybe kill something that won't shut down. But, when I did check, after Wal-Mart, I had an application called "My Uploads" running. I wasn't sure what that was, but I left it running anyway.

My eris battery life last me a full day, but my battery drops to 85% within the first hour after my phone is removed from the charger. The battery than dies slower from that point on. I figure this may be a bad battery or bad meter. Is there a way to calibrate the battery meter?

Normally I have great battery life but sometimes my phone dies extremely quickly and it says that the dialer is using all the battery. Does anyone know what is happening and how I can prevent this?

- The battery is draining wicked fast.
- The phone is ridiculously hot like the radio is working overtime.
- And the screen is so sensitive that when swiping home screens the damn thing tries to go back, or skips a screen. In the browser if I scroll up or down with just one finger it tends to try to pinch zoom. And on the home screen when trying to press and hold an app it double clicks and opens it. The on screen keyboard many times just blips out when swyping trying to type one word and it ends up being 4-5.
So I tried turning the phone off and back on. No difference. Did the OTA update. No difference. I didn't even install any apps yet. But I did remove everything from my home screens to hopefully fix the battery life. No difference. I like the keyboard (miles ahead of the D1) and the fact swype comes stock, if it would only work correctly. Does every droid 2 have these problems? Are they all hot all the time? Are they all super sensitive? Are they all sucking battery at a phenomenal rate?
Got my mini 2 months back, since then the xperience has been good, but off latethe battery is getting discharged pretty quickly. I'm on a 2G network, dont use phone for accesing the intrenet, dont even talk about 30 mins a day on the phone but the battery just discharges in 5-6 hours. Not sure what the issue is.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been getting pretty good battery life (about 14-16 hours on average) when I use the airplane mode trick and kill the Media Hub service. However, my phone has not been able to sleep since the past 2 days and the battery is draining quickly.
The up time indicates that the phone cannot go to sleep. I'm just surprised because I haven't changed any of my phone settings so I don't know why this is happening. I uninstalled the last app that I downloaded and that didn't help.
Should I try doing a hard reset? Are there any apps that will specifically tell me what is keeping the phone awake?
"Android OS" is using my battery way too fast at 33%.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to remove my sim card, which means that I had to remove my battery. After doing so, I put my sim card back in, followed by the battery, and after pushing the power button, the battery indicator started flashing green and orange.
The screen isn't turning on, and absolutely nothing is happening.
I've been pouring over google trying to find a solution, but haven't found any that worked.
One suggestion suggested that I hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, then plug it into power, then add battery. This did not work.
Another suggested the opposite- hold power for 10-15 seconds, add battery, then add power cord, still no luck.
I freaking love this phone. I really, really, really want to fix it. If there are any, ANY suggestions as to what I could do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call HTC for support, but, wouldn't you know it, couldn't get to a phone before EXACTLY one minute before they closed.
