Jul 3, 2010Recently my music player has stopped updating what music I have/don't have on my memory stick. I deleted a few albums off my memory stick and added a couple, and it still shows the old album, (unable to play, says 'audio player does not support files of this type' or something like that) and it doesn't show the new music I put on there. I've restarted my device about 4 times, tried closing/reopening the music app.. I don't know what to do to clear this up. I'm running 2.1 (via WhiteWidow/Root if that matters) and music has never given me a problem before. The other music apps have the same problem, none of them seem to refresh.

Mar 3, 2010So, I've been doing some work on getting album art for my songs before putting them on my phone. As a test, I put an mp3 onto my phone, ensuring the album art was in the id (using mediamonkey). However, the art did not appear when playing the song. Any suggestions on how to get album art to work? Or if I'm doing something wrong?

Apr 8, 2010After installing 2.1v2, all my music became disorganized. My albums are all out of whack and the album art sometimes becomes assigned to the wrong song. I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with my files because everything worked nicely on 1.5. Is anyone else experiencing this bug? Any fixes?

Jan 14, 2010I created a music folder on my sd card on my droid eris, and then drag and dropped a couple of MP3 songs into it. when i unmounted and unplugged my droid, the music player told me it couldnt play that type of file, or something along those lines. i know the eris is mp3 compatible, but it's just not working. also, can you make songs you add to your phone your ringtone? i know i could on my old storm

Aug 21, 2010My wifes music player on her eris is not recognizing all of her music: certain songs when started it will say sorry the player does not recognize this media. Does anyone have any suggestion? I've already tried deleting all her music, and then reloading of the computer and still no luck.

Jan 29, 2010I ripped my songs off cd's using windows media player, and I was just wondering why every song now plays on a loop. If I go into the music player and select by album or by artist and hit play, it just plays the one song on a loop-never advancing. I tried "play all" but it doesn't work.What im wondering is; What is the proper way to import songs? I either dragged whole albums, or selected multiple ones from my computer and dropped them into the music folder of the eris and it still plays only one song at a time. Of course I can hit the next arrow and it advances but it never does it on its own. What am I doing wrong?

Oct 8, 2010While my phone is in the locked/sleep mode, occasionally the music player starts up. I'm guessing I somehow push a button to start it - but can't seem to make it happen when I try. Feb 24, 2010I am using windows 7 so the htc sync does not work. I know that there is a workaround for this but I am able to connect Eris through usb and then tap on mount SD card and then drag and drop music files from my pc to my Eris. The problem is that the Eris music app does not show any of the album art. The art is in the files so I don't know why it won't show. I created a folder called music and in that folder is a folder for each artist which contains folders for each album. The art is in each album folder. I tried Mixzing media player for a while and some of the album art appeared but maybe only 25%. I like the stock app if it would just show the album art.

Feb 7, 2010When listening to music via the music player through headphones, any movement of the headphone input in the headphone jack causes tracks to FF it seems. i.e. If you spin the cord while in the jack, or even if you just push it in farther to see if it is fully seated tracks will FF. Not a showstopper, but I wanted to put this out there and see if anyone can reproduce this or is my phone just weird?

Oct 21, 2010I posted a while back about my stock music player randomly starting when my phone is locked or sleeping. I tried a few things that were suggested, but nothing helped. I have narrowed my problem down to this happening whenever I get into my truck - and that it has to do with the Ford Sync. I know others have had this problem as well.I'm planning on rooting my phone. I'm wondering if rooting will solve this problem? Or has anyone found out how to get around this?

Apr 8, 2010I'm looking to root my Eris with 2.1 tonight but I have a couple questions that I haven't found a definitive answer for. Hopefully someone can answer them for me.
1. Does Exchange mail work with any of these 2.1 ROMs? I think I remember reading that it wasn't working with some of them. This is pretty much a deal breaker for me, so if it doesn't work, I will probably wait.
2. Does the HTC Music player work with these 2.1 ROMs? If not, is there at least a music player that can still be used on the lock screen? I like that I don't have to swipe on the lock screen to navigate to the next track.
3. Will Live Wallpapers ever be usable with Sense or is there some inherent incompatibility? Are they not available on the official 2.1 with Sense enabled?
HTC Eris : Music Player Starts Frantically Skipping Through Songs - Going Crazy
May 13, 2010I'm so fed up...
I open the music player to start playing music and it starts frantically skipping through songs and going crazy. I restart and it still happens.
This also happens with podcasts in google listen. I'll be listening and all of a sudden it'll switch to another podcast.
I can't figure out why this is happening. On maybe the same note. i restarted and had the same music player issue, then went to Taskiller Free and found that all my apps were running...???? This is 2 min after a restart.
What's going on here. I'm on stock Eris, no rooting.
Motorola Droid :: Music Using Music Player
Jun 20, 2010Ok non-rooted droid. Using the stock media player it will not let me play a certain folder that I downloaded. I can not figure out why it will not play any of the songs on in that certain folder. I downloaded the whole disc set of a certain artist and this is the only folder that does it. I checked and every song is 317 kbps MP3 format. I have some music that I downloaded using iMusic and it is 320 kbps MP3 format, so I have deducted the bitrate as being the issue.

Oct 12, 2010Early this morning I d/l another music to try out. It's called Astro Player Nova.
The Nova is a beta app but looks to have promise. It contains several features that I look for and even includes the ever-elusive equalizer!
I use a combination of my Eris' stock player, Cubed (3) and Zimly to accomplish my desire to create playlists, queue songs and have an easy to use interface.
The stock player creates playlists the easiest of any app I've used that can do it, while I love the way that Cubed handles music selection and queuing of songs. Zimly has the easiest and slickest interface of any app I've tried. In fairness to Zimly, I recently found a way to create playlists and queue songs in the app. These features aren't as easy to find or identify in Zimly as within the stock music player or Cubed, but they exist.
Well, I am trying the Nova from Astro and it looks VERY promising! This app allows playlist creation, provides queuing of songs and...wait for it...Wait for it...IT HAS AN EQUALIZER!
This product is still in beta so I'm taking it through the paces, including the equalizer. I have an aux input in my car, I use wireless FM xmitter in my wife's car and I wear headphones when exercising, so I should be able to reasonably assess how useful the equalizer is.
One nice feature of the beta app is that it has a option to send feedback to the developers right from the app. This is nice for those of us who don't have a problem with apps transmitting user data.
I will update this thread as I use Nova more. Also, I'm interested in other opinions from new users.
HTC Hero :: Music Player Locks Up / Fix It - Set Another 3rd Party Player As Default?
Oct 26, 2010The audio/music player on my HTC Hero locks up immediately when it starts. As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?

I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.
Motorola Droid X :: Music Player In 2.2
Aug 22, 2010I know better than to install these leaks as they are buggy, but I've never had one brick my phone like this. I was listening to the music player and now can't get the program to shut down. It won't force close, I shut it down and pulled the battery, when it re-boots it comes on again and the whole system goes fubar. I can't make calls or anything.

Feb 1, 2010I use MediaMonkey to edit all of my mp3 files so that all my artist, album, year, track number, album art, etc is correct. Today I added an artist (Dub_Fx) with 2 albums and one single to my Droid; the single's album art showed, as well as one of the albums, but the other album's album art isn't showing at all, but I used the exact same method for all of the files. Each mp3 has an imbedded image file saved to the tag, each of them 350x350 images, and none of the mp3 files are protected either. Other programs on my computer show the album art correctly (and I've deleted the images from my computer, just to make sure they were saved to the tag and still show properly), but for some reason it won't show for that one album on the Droid's music player. I've even tried changing the album art to something else, copy over to the Droid, change the album art back, rewrite, and still nothing at all.

Dec 24, 2009so I just tried out our music player this evening. Among many other things, I have to say this thing is AWESOME. Yes, I agree, the user interface could use some work. However, the sound is MUCH better than my ipod touch. I use my ipod for music and this monster for everything else. Well, my battery in the ipod died so I put the same earbuds in the Droid and was amazed at the sound.Must say that I am constantly amazed with this thing.
