HTC Droid Eris : Way To Delete Amazon MP3 App?
Aug 17, 2010
I have a rooted phone running Kaos Froyo. I installed Root Explorer and I'm trying to uninstall the Amazon MP3 app as well as latitude, however I can find the correct way of doing this. I tried looking under data/app but don't see them in there..

Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?

On the Amazon wireless site I see that I can upgrade my contract ( I am due in 5 days) with an Eris for a penny. The only catch I can see is that one must stick with the selected plan for 180 days (kind of a no brainer since nowadays two years is the norm). So I emailed Verizon to see if they could match the deal. Here is the response I received."Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless, my name is Chris, and I regret to say that we will not match third part pricing but I can say there is more value when going thru us directly.Since Verizon Wireless offers a wide variety of calling plans, promotions, and wireless devices to meet your needs, we do not discount our service or "match" the offers of other sellers. With Verizon Wireless you will enjoy the nations most reliable wireless network and our award-winning Customer Service.

So I'm at my brother in law's wedding over the weekend and the wedding music cd was basically destroyed. Everyone else had iphone's which didn't have the 3.5 connector to play through the chappel's speaker system. On top of that we were kind of in the middle of no where so their 3g signals were pretty spotty. Luckily my verizon android had a perfect signal so I went on to Amazon mp3 and bought the songs I needed and became the default A/V guy for the ceremony.

I've switched from the Iphone 3G to the Eris 20 days ago. Android is sweet, but am feeling frustrated with the speed of the Eris. I upgraded to the rooted 2.1 in hopes of speeding things up, and it did for the most part, but it still lags when trying to make calls. Call quality is subpar on both ends, I had better call quality with ATT and the iphone. I am considering returning the phone to AmazonWireless if possible, do you think they would notice I installed 2.1? Will I get my new account activation upgrade on a different phone (Incredible or N1). I plan on activating an old phone until one of those comes out, then using my upgrade discount on that. Worst case is I'd have to sell it on ebay and buy an unlocked version.

Any word on how to get rid of this worthless app "amazon mp3 store" and the few others that keep turning on no matter how many times I kill them? "My uploads" - whatever that is, "Voice Dialer" never works correctly anyway and "Messages" are the other ones. Until Verizon makes Text messages free and or I feel the need to bother somebody with a few poorly typed text messages, instead of using the phone - I would like to get rid of this app that wont shut off!

Why do I always find them running in the background when I don't even use them. I use advanced task killer and I swear I have to close both of these at lease 6+ times a day. How do I stop my Eris from running these?

I'm running the new 2.1 leak and I've been noticing the Amazon Mp3 app is always running. I've never launched it and I keep having to manually kill it through running services. I'm also noticing Shop Savvy is having the same relaunch issue, but I can always uninstall that one, unfortunately unless we get root we're stuck w/ the amazon mp3.

Anyone know of a way to remove the Amazon MP3 Store application from an Eris? I have root access thanks to Universal 1 Click, but I don't see a way to remove this application. It keeps starting itself and I don't ever use it. While I do use apps on my phone I don't even play music on it.
Using AndExplorer I can navigate to my App folder and see that I can reinstall by clicking on the Amazommp3.apk file, but it won't let me delete that file and there is no uninstall option.

I am currently using the Droid Does ROM and clearly I am one of the very few people who actually uses the Amazon MP3 app, because it is removed on every ROM I've tried with the exception of KaosFroyo. Is there a way to get it onto a ROM? And if so, can someone please provide me with the link to DL the app?

this is starting to piss me off, I have over 10K messages, and it will not let me delete them? I have been reading the only way to get rid of them is by resetting the phone to factory default? Is there anyway to back up all the stuff I purchased or am I hosed? Is there an app that will delete them all at once, I do not care if I lose all my SMS msgs, but I really do not wish to reset the phone?

I just got my Eris last night. My google contacts synch'd up fine. The problem is the export from Outlook to Google didn't carry over all the data. I have deleted all my contacts on google and was hoping the Eris would synch and delete as well. However, the contacts remain on the phone. Is there a way, other than a factory reset to delete all the contacts on the phone.

I feel really silly for having to ask this question, but I can't figure out how to delete music files from my Music application (the one that came with the phone). I see the following options but no "Delete" option:
"Now playing", "Shuffle all", "Play all", "Add to playlist", "Change order", "Set as ringtone", "Repeat", Properties", Shuffle On/Off"...

Basically I have a couple devices showing in my bluetooth list that I no longer own and would like to delete them from that list. Is there a simple way to do it that I'm overlooking? This is probably more of an OCD thing than a superneccessity, but any help would be appreciated.

I just got my Droid yesterday and so far I like it. It was annoying that I couldn't get my Yahoo account set up, then I found instructions on the internet for the manual setup (Thank You to Smilepack, whoever you are!). NOW, my next problem is this: can I delete on email on the Droid without deleting it on my actual Yahoo or Gmail account? My BlackBerry had a "Delete on Handheld only" option. That would really be nice to have.

Got 2.1 from download site. Installed, missing HTC widgets, did a Factory Reset and they all came back.
My problem now is, I can't delete certain numbers from contacts. For instance, my girl friend's number has "411" as her primary number (not sure how that happened). It wont let me delete it from her contacts card now :*(

When I'm texting, often words popup that are nowhere near the word that I have typed or am working on typing out. I know that I can press that down arrow and add a word but how can I delete some of the words that are already there. For example, sometimes, I start a message with "I'm" and the phone types "Um" instead. I have no need for the word "Um" Thanks everyone. Great site btw, I have learned so much here. Also, is there an AutoText app similar to the BlackBerry where I can type a word or series of letters and have it automagically replaced with something else? For example:
