Mar 15, 2010I don't know if it's because of the leaked 2.1 but I can't get the Street View for Google Navigation to come up on Eris.

View 5 RepliesI have got google maps , but where do i find street view etc in market or is in gogle maps.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust updated google maps via the market place to version 4.3 and i admit the answer is no doubt staring me in the face but on a earlier version of the said "app" you had the option to use street view while navigating. My question is "where is it gone" as for some reason when i now try to navigate to a destination that option is missing.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI was using Google maps and navigation for a while now, all of a sudden, the street view doesn't work any more.
I would enter directions in Google maps, and press navigate, when GPS has found me and I'm in a mode where the arrow shows which way I'm facing, double-tapping the screen doesn't enable street view any more and I don't know why.
Is there a way on Google Navigation you can get the view down to street level - like the kind you get on a Tom Tom? You know, the arrow very close to the screen & it shows you turn by turn?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt would seem that they've just rolled out their new Street View for practically the whole of the UK. So my question is: How long do you think it'll be until they release Google Navigation for the UK??
View 5 Replies View RelatedGoogle today announced a free, turn-by-turn GPS navigation application for the new Android 2.0 smart phone platform.
This new feature comes with everything you'd expect to find in a GPS navigation system, like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. But unlike most navigation systems, Google Maps Navigation was built from the ground up to take advantage of your phone's Internet connection.
Among the features included in the application:
- Up-to-date map data: Automatically includes latest map data from Google, which is constantly being refined by Google and by users submitting corrections
- Plain English search: Locate destinations by entering business business name or landmark; no address needed
- Voice search: Speak destinations and Google Maps Navigation will automatically interpret and plot routes
- Live traffic data: Indicator warns of upcoming traffic issues
- Search along route: Find businesses along path of travel
- Satellite view: 3D view of route to aid in understanding directions
- Street View: first-person perspective of route and destination images
A video preview of Google Maps Navigation has also been posted.

I discovered an option in street view that is called "Compass View". Not sure what use it is but I thought it was cool. You have to hold the phone in portrait as opposed to landscape for the compass to work...check it out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the maps application, but I don't see how to access street view. Does anyone know what I need to do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running UD8.0 and chevys 1.0ulow kernel first of all...for some reason this will download but the install fails...anyone else having this trouble?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI've seen many people complaining that their Google Navigation doesn't read street names anymore. But I was wondering if the reverse is possible. In other words, is there a way to stop Google Navigation from reading street names?
So for example,
Currently: "Turn left onto Lehigh Street in 500 m"
I want it to be: "Turn left in 500 m"
Is there a way to disable the street name TTS without rooting?
On the EVO been playing with Google Maps got zoom in close, i know they have a street view but not seeing it on the EVO.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm at work, street view can be fun for filler time. Or if I'm looking to go on vacation it's handy to see what's around the area.
But really tho what are you guys using street view for on your phone other than to show you friends who own Iphones how cool it it? Are there functions that I'm missing?
To me it almost seems useless for a handheld device. Even if it moved real time as your walking all it will show you is what you would see right now ... only 6 month to a year ago.
So my question .... is anyone using street view for anything useful .... or am I missing something.
It used to work but now it has gone missing. GM has updated to 4.2.0 (#4210) and i wonder if that removed it?
It's not in the Layer menu. If I hold finger down on a location it doesn't come up in a menu from that either So how to I get it back?
Where is the street view in Google maps ? I do not see it in the layers menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot find anything in the sdk regarding google street view. do we launch it from the web?
View 3 Replies View RelatedProb a noob question or maybe I'm just not seeing it but in google maps, how do I get street view? I can't seem to find it for the life of me. Also, there's apparently a bicycle directions layer option which I can't seem to find.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCould someone that has the Behold II post a test of Google Street View or Sky Map using the accelerometer/compass? I have a My Touch and I would like to compare the two.. Just a detailed description of the experience or a youtube video would nice.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an application that is loading the street view application at a given latitude and longitude. I was wondering if anyone knows a way of determining if a streetview is available at a specific location, so that instead of loading the streetview and trying to download a view somewhere where it is unavailable, ultimately throwing an error, I can display a message instead. The maps application can do it but I can't seem to find a way using the android api, maps api or any of the intent uri's.
View 5 Replies View RelatedPer the title, there are new versions of Maps and Street View in the market. The Maps update is just to add walking directions I think and the street view was a more polished update. Street view doesn't work after install, at least on my Epic. I open maps, pick a road and long-click on it. A balloon pops up saying "Loading address" for about 30 seconds then give me a pop-up error that says "Data Connection Lost, Retrying" But, data is working just fine on the phone everywhere else. Try rebooting the phone after install, it helped. Still some errors but much better than before. It is awesome when it works. Try compass mode.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNo OTA. No Google navigation but I still love my Eris!
View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to enable street view? I ended up there earlier but don't know how.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan the Eris do the Navigation like the moto Droid does?
Found a Eris for free with new account and that fits my price range!
Moto Droid is still $120 out of my range!
I would like to save a street view image of a local sandwich shop so that I can use it for the contact photo. Is there an easy way to do this or do I have to go through that longwinded process of taking a screenshot?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAm I correct in thinking that the new update can do Google Maps Navigation? If so how do I download it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been doing a lot of research lately, on this forum as well as others and I read somewhere that someone was able to port google maps navigation to there eris. I can't remember if it was this site or somewhere else. Can anyone confirm this? I also read that the people over at xda-developers were able to get it working on the G1 which I believe is running either android 1.5 or 1.6.
Here is the link:
Google Maps Navigation Ported to T-Mobile G1 | Android Central.
It would be great if we could get this working on our Eris, I really don't care for any of the other 2.0 features besides this.
When using google navigation, I am typically shown a top-down view (north is up) rather than the standard perspective, or 3D view.
Is this an issue with GPS? Or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? I've tried touching the compass icon to change views, but still in map mode.
I've seen more than a few users in the OTA section commenting on the new Navigation Shortcut for Google Maps. This is NOT part of the OTA, per se, but is due to a Google Maps for Mobile update that coincidentally debuted today.
This is from the Official Google Mobile Blog:

Can anyone confirm if Google Navigation can be used to just show your progress/location on a road while driving, without having to have an actual destination input?I know this was shown on a few of Rob's videos as not being possible, but just wanted to confirm if anyone had any further info on it.
