I imported text messages from my old phone, but they didn't merge with the contacts who had texted me on my new phone.
For example: if I had 5 texts already on my HTC Desire from John and then I imported 40 texts from my old phone from the same number (John), then they have two separate threads of "John" rather than merging into one thread with 45 messages. Anyone know how to merge these threads?

In some chatting apps, friend A sends a message saying aaa, at the same time friend B sends a message saying bbb.
On notification bar, it displays "2 messages from xxx" but not "message aaa from A" AND "message bbb from B",
That is, the messages are merged together and I can't read each contents of messages in a quick view.....
So, is it possible not to merge messages in android? like iOS?
My G2 was bootlooped so I switched back to my GNex for a couple weeks since I didn't have any time to repair it. Now that my G2 is back up and running, I want to add all of my new sms/mms that I got back into my G2 without overwriting the old messages.
I also want to add that this applies to group messages as well.
I want to restore all my sms/mms into my phone since I did not notice that my phone message setting was default to "delete old messages" where test message limit was 200 messages per conversation.
I did a previous backup using Titanium Backup. But if I did restore the old backup, it will overwrite the message content and "new message" will gone. How do I restore the old message while maintaining the new message in my phone?
Btw, I'm using Titanium Backup 4.2.1, my phone is LG Optimus 3D, Android 2.3.5.
How can I move a copy of the messages from iphone to android? I have more than one copy of the messages, can I merge them??

At the minute, my code looks like this...
How the message threads work? I create a new message and it logs it in what ever thread was last. If I reply using messages sometimes it sends to wrong person.
Example:
I txtd person#1. then person #2 txtd me. opening messages I replied to person #2. but it went to person #1. my only guess is it goes to whom ever created the thread. very bad app. still trying to figure this out?
Like how to reply to the correct person and whom its going to. in threads?
Since I came from a palm pre I was used to swiping left to right and right to left on a lot of things.. I noticed that when you're in the messaging app and you see the different threads, if you swipe left to right on a person's thread you will get a "CALL" button. If you swipe from right to left you will get a "MESSAGE" button.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just noticed something that is quite annoying in the native gmail app. If you "reply" to an email, but change the address you are replying to, you lose the ability to see the original message of the thread on your Droid. Here is an example. A friend of mine, Jane, was organizing a ski trip and sent out and email to the 20 people that were going with the details (dates, addresses, prices, contact info, etc). I replied to the email, but changed the address to John's email, because he was going to be driving me and I didn't want to reply to all. John and I continued the thread with multiple messages back and forth to setup details of when we were leaving. In all versions of g mail (on both my desktop and my Droid), I see "Jane, Me, John (8) >> ski trip details..." for this thread. When I am in the browser version of g mail (either desktop or the Droid browser) I can click on the thread and see all 8 messages. However, in the native g mail app on the Droid, I click on the thread, see the last message, and behind that it only says "6 read messages" (there should be 7 more) and when I expand them, Jane's original message is the one missing. The thread comes up though when I search for Jane's email address or any of the text within Jane's original email. But I can't read it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been finding that since the update, my phone opens up text message threads that I didn't tap.This mostly happens when I am going through menus quickly because I'm in a hurry.For example, I'll have one text thread open, hit the "back" button to go back to the list of all the threads, tap the thread at the top of the screen (or anywhere really), and it opens up an entirely different thread.It's not like it's opening the one right above or below it because I didn't tap accurately most of the time it opens up a thread that was so far down that it wasn't even shown on the screen.When I'm in a hurry I've sent texts to people that I didn't mean to send them to.This is really annoying.anyone else having this problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy s 3 on sprint with cm10 installed. I use handcent for my text messages but obviously the standard messaging app is still installed and when I open it I can view all my text conversations going all the way back to when I got my phone.
How can I back these up in a text file or otherwise so I can store them on my laptop?
I'm trying to figure out why my text message 'conversations' are merging so that they get lumped under one main 'person'?
I've only had the phone a couple days, so not a ton of messages yet. But a couple of times now, all messages have gotten 'lumped' together under one user, regardless of who they are received from or sent to.
The first time it happened, I cleared the entire thread. But now it's happening again. Even forwarding a message to someone else gets included in the same thread.
But it seems as if the messages are going to the right people, not sure. The problem is hitting 'reply'. Not sure who will get it.
Last night I downloaded the Handcent SMS client, and am using that now (disabled the notifications, etc., in the default SMS client). The HTC SMS widget seems to work OK with the Handcent client thankfully, but it is only showing the last 'conversation' of a long thread. So not sure if it's a default message app issue or not.
I have been searching but so far have not found the answer to this question: is there an app to automatically delete threads when they get to a certain length or if they have been inactive past a certain date?
My old phone just autodeleted the oldest text once you got past 100, and while it is nice to have more memory than that I do not want to go through my threads and manually delete them to stop them from taking up too much memory. anyone know/use such an app?
I'm having trouble deleting a message thread that is over 1500 messages.. Using the stock Message Delete just results in a force close after a few minutes, and using the app called SMS Quick Delete results in nothing at all, even after running for almost half an hour. Is there an easier way to do this? Is it possible to connect to my computer via usb and browse to manually delete the messages?

However, I also have a weird problem where the pictures I do receive disappear from the entire thread after about 5 seconds...I use both Chomp and the stock app and both exhibit the problem. Am i just missing something? There doesn't seem to be anyway to access the particular message once it disappears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got an automatic update for 2.1 on my HTC Legend last week, it is now reversing the whole of each thread for text messages. that is it shows the oldest messages first, and i have to scroll through all the messages on that thread to read the new one i have just received. some of these threads are 100's of messages. and i need to keep some of the info on them etc so don't want to delete whole threads. Before the update it showed the newest message first and was great. can't find anyway to change a setting for this.

It was one thread of about 15 that were saved in my phone from people I communicate with on a regular basis. The phone froze up for about a minute, then message force closed. Opening up the messages app again reveals All of my threads have been wiped clean.

I am not receiving incoming texts and have the error message stating that my message memory is full. I just deleted all threads about a week ago so this was surprising, but regardless I deleted again. I double checked both messaging and handcent and both are empty. The only answer I can think of is that I have some kind of backup storage setting, but I can't find it anywhere on my phone!

The initial list of message threads loads fine, but when I select one I get "loading" for a very long time. This has never happened to me before, and I have been running 2.1 since it was released. I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
What are the advantages/disadvantages in placing a lengthy network access code in a thread in an activity or a thread in a service? How would it affect the application? I am writing a streaming audio player and from what I've read so far putting the code in a service will still end up blocking the application so a new thread is needed, does anyone know if it makes more sense to put this piece of code in a service.
