I used Google turn by turn navigation yesterday (first time for a while), and the voice was giving the road names as full numbers rather than the digits. (e.g. the "A" four thousand and fifty five, rather than the "A" four O five five), I know it used to do this when the app came out, but I thought they had fixed it. Does anyone know why its reverted to saying the full number rather than digits ? Using Android Froyo 2.10.405.2
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm soon to be getting my first android phone, htc desire on t-mobile UK (so from what ive heard it will be branded), i will be rooting it and ideally a custom rom. im happy with the rooting process (done quite a bit of modding with consoles), im just at a loss with custom roms for it at the minute, if anyone could suggest one that would suit my needs it would be awesome.
Im after a fairly similar to stock, idealy 2.2, but with some performance tweaks, im after:
-HTC sense
-a2sd
-the ability to overclock (and ideally auto underclock settings when in sleep mode)
- battery performance tweak
and also what is the difference in omoled vs slcd screens when it comes to custom roms and rooting, and also just generally in day to day use? are there any differences in quality, display etc?
and also whats the best os for rooting, roms etc? i mainly use a mac but also have xp, vista, 7 and linux. i understand theres no software currently for mac? and id rather stay away from 7 if at all possible (my copys not that stable) all help would be greatly appreciated, and i hope this is in the right forum
Really odd one this. It closes if I type a capital A. Nothing else. All other letters are fine.
The application Internet (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
Looking for a good radio app for my (us) Desire... I like slacker, but don't want to pay for upgrade. Would really like that news. Abc. Cbs. Fox.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI didn't think it was but a guy on another site swears it is. I must admit, I've not had much call to use it but when I've tried it, albeit in a poor signal area, I could never get it to display the station name.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe here in the US have just been able to get the Desire, just released 8/27. When I read the user manual it states that there is suppose to be a "FM radio". I see no icon/app for it. Is this something that US cellular has deprogrammed? Is the hardware in the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBit of general this but as its the Desire that I'm looking to get (on either O2 or Voda) I'd thought this would be a good place to ask these questions.
1. I am looking to use the phone to listen to radio (radio 5 and maybe radio 1 and 2 as well) and send the sound wirelessly to suitable bluetooth headphones - I assume this is perfectly possible?
2. Assuming the above is ok what sort of data bandwidth would I use up per hour. I was looking at maybe 100 hrs a month - is that realistic on a 1GB cap?
3. How reliable is 3G is walking around generally - is it consistent generally or does it drop out alot?
So I managed to get the defrost version of froyo running smoothly on my desire. But the fm radio had disappeared. Couldn't find a replacement app. Any ideas? I've gone back tothe standard 2.1 htc android as I use the radio most days.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI don't know if i'm the only one.. but i can only access the Japan Mode in the FM Radio. Only frequencies from low 70s to high 80s mhz range. I have researched online, here and have only found the opposite, which is the Japan Mode is missing. I update to 2.2 yesterday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought this as I wanted to play last.fm from my HTC Desire via the in car speaker system.
As I have the kit to mount the Desire in the car (for Google Navigation) it was a straight swap of one charger for another.
You set a station on the radio and the sound from your phone is transmitted to the the car radio. A great product that is simple to use and just works. The sound quality is good and I am very happy with this product.
Note: Very slight hiss if you crank up the radio too much, better to increase the volume on the phone first.

Is it possible to change the headset and still use fm-radio? I really need to use in-ear headset, just cant bare with the other one, my ear hurt like hell after a while. The headset with the samsung galaxy i7500 was perfect, could use them all day with no problems. I know i can use webradio but i havent had to good experience of webradio so far, still think fm-radio perform flawless for the most part.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm constantly flashing new ROM's my end to try and find one that suits. As I'm sure you're all aware, most of them say "Use this Radio for best results". I've stuck with a previously flashed radio for the last few ROM's. I'm about to flash Defrost 6.0. The literature surrounding the ROM says to use a specific Radio to get the camera to work.
My hesitation is this - I've read that trying to flash the same radio version as the one you already have flashed can brick the phone? Is this true? If so, how do I find out which radio version I have?
Is there any way to play the radio to the speaker?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm really not sure of the specs of DAB or the Desire... but is it possible to receive DAB on the Desire?
View 5 Replies View RelatedObviously this phone receives FM radio but does anyone know if this phone can transmit FM as well? That would be soo handy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell it's really a simple question. I thought why not? But wasn't able to find any DAB apps in the Market, so perhaps it's not possible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android scene and was wondering what pro's (and con's if any) people are experiencing after rooting on the Desire (apps to sd being a good one). Looking through the forums I've noticed a lot of people experiencing data switching/connection problems, does the new radio file help with this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedjust got the desire and can't seem to find a way to play radio 5 live over wifi. my old nokia 5800 did it fine (rm stream). anyone know a way? seems crazy that symbian s60 can do stuff android 2.1 can't.
View 11 Replies View RelatedHave tried to get to the bottom of the Desire's poor FM but am thinking of giving up and getting the Sony MW600's. Wondered if anyone has experience of these - mainly just want them for FM radio (Radio 2 in the main) in the UK.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not able to get a clear reception on the Desire FM radio. the sound is pretty scratchy and has lot of disturbance. earlier i used nokia phones and the were working perfectly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHad the Desire for a week and it is driving me mad. I liked listening to BBC radio 2 walking to work - Chris Evans made me laugh and woke me up gently but since the Desire, the reception is intolerable and I don't bother (prev. Sony K800i was great). Have read and searched all I can on tinternet and although others have similar, I have yet to see a fix - I have today emailed HTC but wonder if anyone has found an answer? I have seen mention of thinner headset cables are better (HTC supply is thick) - anyone found a replacement headset that improves this please - you truly would make my week. I am still in the return period but doubt that would work, so would rather find a fix. Other bits 'n bobs I have found which may help you and balance my question are 1. don't use Advanced task killer to close the radio - it doesn't shut it down properly and you can't reuse the radio - if you get this, turn the phone off fully and then it shall work. 2. I like the 3G watchdog app to stop me going over my usage - give it a go 3. Shopsavvy is cool and works really well to scan a barcode and find better prices - Pkt Auctions Ebay app in contrast has never worked for me and seems useless in the wake of Shopsavvy 4. You may well need a new in car handsfree kit - A2DP requirement I think it is - my 2 old ones weren't up to it but a new Parrot kit for 50 does the job and can call from speech etc. 5. The best surprise was the navigation tool - basically satnav which works better than my dedicated satnav - the lady's voice is a little annoying but she gives far better detailed descriptions of the next turn and finds satellites quicker then my old and now redundant machine - give it a go! Anyway, I'll shut up as no doubt you are dying to tell me which headset does make my Desire FM work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to use Bluetooth headset for FM radio when in the gym, but we all already know that you need to plug in wired headset to use as antenna.
Problem is, as soon as you plug in wired headset, music goes to the wired headset. You can only choose to route music to the speakers by default.
So, the question is, does anyone know how I can route FM radio music to the Bluetooth headset instead of to the speakers? I don't mind leaving the wires attached for use as antenna. This must be possible through some fix or 3rd party software that I am not aware about.
With regard to phone calls dropping when on a nominal h/3g connection (as when I'm in the house I have a 3g/h reception 2 bars but when I pick the phone up it seems to drop out to g after a few seconds so if I answer a call on 3g/h a few seconds later the phone switches to g and disconnects me poor signal in the house I think but very annoying as I have to keep the phone on g only in the house and use WiFi for browsing at the moment)). I searched for some ROM radio files to flash to my rooted phone and found these 3 roms
[Radio ROM] Desire Radio Roms - xda-developers
Was wondering if anyone has looked into this and if there is anymore (possibly updated files) out there. At the moment I have downgraded to file 30.34 as this radio file seems to switch from g/3g/h the quickest and it's a bit more stable (still cutting to g connection once I've had the phone in my hand for a couple of seconds (think due to the receiver being in the bottom of the phone as someone else has reported), will check it's progress but all files give a similar reception.
Are there any free apps out there that play live streams I.E audio or video when clicking on a link while surfing the Internet on the htc desire? I'm trying to listen to an Internet radio stream that isn't listed in all those android apps that you can download like XiiaLive Lite. On the PC you would go to the radio station website and click on the listen now link and windows media player or realplayer would pop up and play the stream. Is there anything similar on android that just plays the link?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter updating from stock 2.3.3 To Gen.Y Vision X ROM, callers faced some terrible echo when speaking with me. I updated Radio to one suggested and it was fixed. Soon after this update speaker in my phone failed. So I have 2 questions. Could that failure be caused by radio firmware? How should I choose radio software to flash?
After getting my phone fixed (not without troubles, because device is rooted, and I didn't clean it up properly) I didn't flashed new radio yet. I did flashed latest Gen'Y Vision X ROM. May I flash radio after ROM without any problems, or should I flash Radio and than ROM?
