So I search alot on YouTube and love it. So when I get the desire going and Youtube on, it searches really quick, then I play it in normal and HD it only plays for 7 seconds.
Just one I thought so searched for a tune on youtube with a still picture but soundtrack, but still only 7 seconds.
After 7 seconds it seems to want to load the next part but nothing happens! Have I to change a setting?

When I want to record a video its saying I can record for about 1 minute 20 seconds. This is on HD 720p quality. I know its the highest setting but I should be able to record longer than this shouldn't I? I have 5.91 GB left of free space so just wondering if anyone has any ideas? The phone storage thats left is 1.01 GB. Could it be that its trying to save to the phone instead of the memory card, and if so how do I change that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore I upgraded to Froyo my HTC Desire camcorder function worked fine.After the update it crashes after a few seconds of recording video. I have tried all the resolutions for record but they all crash the phone.I did read that sometimes formatting the SD card helps, but I have don't that and used a different SD card and the problem is still there.Any help greatly received.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried to transfer an mp4 (Terminator salvation) from a laptop to my phone and when I play it, I get the 'cannot play video' message.I thought that I may have done something wrong when transferring so today I also tested it via Bluetooth with a friend who also has the desire but on o2 (I am with Orange). I turned on the ftp server and it took the file via, went to 100% completing the BT transfer but again, when I try and play it I get the exact same message. This file was also mp4. This file works on his Desire (it is a 26 minute cartoon called the Boondocks) but not mine. I cannot understand the inconsistency as you would think that the same would apply to both mine and his.My last phone was a n95 and I am not someone who regularly takes an interest in new gadgets coming out, making this big jump (only ever used Nokia's and Ericson's before the desire). However, I have had a new phone (always top of the range through upgrade) every 12/18 months since 2001 so I am very much used to adjusting to new phones, albeit not the 'smartphone' generation. So I am not a technophobe but nor am I a tech geek. But I cannot for the life of me work this one out.

Now i tried to play a video file .3gp from the internet youtube link via my android device ! not emulator. And it worked! But when i tried to play a video file .3gp or .mp4( i converted the mp4 from 3gp ) its not working. Im getting error "Cannot play video Sorry, this video cannot be played"

I looked into this forum and in Google but with no success so far. Yesterday I bought HTC Desire and can not understand how to play the supported video formats- mp4, wmv and 3gp on the device. I am not trying to stream these files from Internet- I have them already downloaded on my PC. I want to copy them onto my Desire and somehow play them. I have several questions: 1. Do I need to re size the video files- do they require specific resolution in order to be played? 2. Do I need to copy these videos to a specific folder on the device? Or I can just create new folder through my PC and dump them there. 3. How the hell can I actually play the movies once they get onto the device? I can not see an application which launches movies. There is a music player but not a movie player. Do I need to download a widget or an application which runs movies? If yes- please recommend a good one.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having problems getting videos to play on my HTC Desire. I have converted my .avi files into Mpeg4 so as the device could read them ok. I'm using the free programme 'Handbrake' to convert the files. And it does so with no problems. The new mpeg4 files play with sound and image.
The problem occurs when I transfer the images onto the phones SD card. The video files are picked up via the camera folder (where you can play videos as there is no actual video player) as well as on the video player app I downloaded today - 'mVideoPlayer', without any problems but when I click to play the video the screen is black and only the sound works (even though on my pc the file played fine).
Do I need to download a codec or something? I would have thought that as the Desire was compatible with mpeg4 files that it would play them straight off without having to add software.
Does anyone know how to keep your ringtone to play longer than a few seconds. Have tried turning voicemail off ..

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an alarm clock app with one very specific feature - allow me to set the alarm tone to automatically stop after X seconds, then start again at the next snooze interval, and play for another X seconds.
Sure it seems every alarm app out there allows me to set Snooze intervals and stuff, but with my waking up habit, I don't like to physically have to touch the phone to get it to shut up until the next snooze interval. I like to lay in bed and let the alarm go for like 3-4 snooze intervals before I finally wake up.
I've tried Alarm Clock PlusV2, Alarm Clock Xtreme, Quick Alarm. None of them seem to have this.
And then it hangs up before I can answer it.What's with that? I can't see a setting to change how long the bloody thing rings for, either.I have a song from the sd card set as my ringtone, but it's about two minutes long so it can't be that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy HTC is really slow! When I receive a new message it takes about 30seconds to even open it, then a further 30 or so to wait for the keyboard to respond. I have tried deleting the messages from my inbox and starting fresh, but am slightly cautious about just giving it a factory reset!
Also, when i am finished a phone call, as I take the phone away from my ear, it flashes on and off, meaning that I can't actually put the phone down! The only way to do it is to take the battery out of the back and start again!
Overall, I'm not very impressed with the phone, its supposed to be suitable for a businessman, but I can't even get it to work as a personal user!
We have 4 other people in the house with the same phone and none of them are experiencing these problems.
My new Desire was delivered Monday evening. It is on the 3 network. Have a great signal at home - H.
Took it to work for the first time yesterday and had a great signal in my office too. I'm also getting H there most of the time, occasionally it drops to 3G but only for a few seconds then goes back to H. Internet browsing is fast and smooth.
So far so good then, I went downstairs however and noticed that I had no signal. How can it go from the strongest possible signal upstairs to no signal at all downstairs?
Just got a new Desire (ordered it ages ago but had to wait for the delivery with Super LCD) and sometimes, but not every time, I see that the battery drops anywhere between 7-9 percent moments after disconnecting the charger.
I'm curious whether anyone else has had this. Is this a calibration thing, or a problem with the phone, or the battery? Or an app? I'm using both Battery Indicator and JuicePlotter and they both show the same thing, the same drop. Curiously JuicePlotter tells me the drop sometimes occurs once or twice while charging in the night, too.
I'm a bit loathe to send it back to the shop after waiting well over 6 weeks for the thing in the first place, so I thought I'd check here first. I'm hoping it's just teething issues and will balance out in a few days. I got the phone about 4 days ago.
The default setting for this is 15 seconds, and i changed it to be 1 minute. Randomly it sets itself back to 15 seconds (maybe after powering phone off).

When I try to run video while on Yahoo's site I get message "Cannot play video - Sorry this video cannot be played." I have no issues with ESPN, Cnet, etc. I'm able to run these yahoo videos on my wife's Eris with 2.1 (v.3).

I heard that you can play Mp4 video's on the EVO so i transferred some videos from my PC and non of them play on the EVO, the most i have been able to get is sound but the screen is black, some of them won't even play the sound.I also tried a DivX file but that one doesn't even show up on the phone at all.So which files actually play on the phone? this is my first Android phone i have always had Windows Mobile or iphone and have never had so much problems trying to playback a video on a smartphone.

This is bad.I converted The Dark Knight the same as I convert all my other movies. It would play on my computer but not my phone. So I checked the "Details" of the file on my phone. It showed as 0 bytes when it should have been 2.09 GB.I thought it might have converted with an error. Converted it two more times. Same problem. Finally I converted it with a lower resolution to bring the size down to 1.8 GB. It plays just fine.

Before video's would stream over my connection, however 2.2 comes out and know I keep getting error's or programs just shut down. Is this just a case of host programs switching to the new android format?
