I just got snesoid for the desire, and its working really great , just wondering if any one has figured out how to make the buttons appear on the left so that you can use the trackball as the d-pad, this is so that you can use it in landscape mode. there are various settings to move the buttons top or bottom but not left right. but maybe there is....?

I am not able to find out the perfect layout(viewgroup) to place four buttons as shown in the attached image. Basically, i want to place four buttons near the top/left/bottom/right edge of the screen. AbsoluteLayout helped, but it is deprecated (It is also better to avoid AbsoluteLayout as it is not very flexible for orientation changes)

Also on my home pages, it will slide all the way to the far left one. And sometimes my messaging app will lag, then force close.
can i use trackball to move around buttons?then if i am on the button, can I change the background of the button just like highlight?

When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.

Can the DI go into landscape mode with the buttons on the left? I'm left handed and would much prefer this arrangement. With my BB I was always able to flip it into landscape mode on either side.

I use google talk all the time and I would love to have the trackball light blink slowly (just like the normal alert for a waiting SMS message) when I receive a google talk message that I haven't read. Or how about gMail? They light up the notification led blinking green but there is no trackball notification. I'm actually quite surprised there doesn't seem to be any setting I can find to make the trackball blink for various notifications. My phone's already rooted so that should expand my options but I haven't found anybody that's done this yet.

I keep missing reminders because I'm away from my phone when the audible goes off and then I don't know it's happened....unless... I could have the trackball flashing too.

When the user switches to landscape mode (widescreen) I would like to have the handler located on the left. When I change the orientation from vertical to horizontal, the handler is placed on the right.
I have defined my layout XML like this:

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have used my HTC desire for a month now and I am very pleased with this ultimate android phone.I have only one issue with the phone/system though. The optical trackball is hyper sensitive. Whenever I use the phone ouside and the sun is shining, then the track ball activates due to the light and the phone/system uses the input to always scroll to the right. This is pretty annoying because this means that I cannot use the phone outside. Resently I also discovered that a small lamp next to my couch can activate the trackball as well.Does anyone know if its possible to disable the optical trackball or am I the only one who has this problem? If so then maybe it's a hardware error and I will try to return the phone.As a temporarily solution I have placed a sticker on top of the track ball.

Anyone know any way to make the touch buttons on the bottom less sensitive? Gees, I can't touch the phone without opening the Quick Search. It's not just the button, it's the entire right bottom corner of the phone which activates this. Any utility, tape, hack or anything else to disable this button?
