if I remove all these it clears up to 400mb of ram. what benefit is there to leave all the recent apps there? is th3 phone chewing through more battery to use the 1.2gb of ram vs 800mb?

i am using a MIUI-based rom and replaced sidekick with googlesearch, however, it also removed the sidekick recent apps/task manager without replacing it with the stock recent apps list
so now when i hold home, nothing happens..
I've been with my Droid 4 for about a week, but it has slowed down for some reason.I'm suspecting that it's due to all those open apps, which I don't know how to close.How do you close all apps? Is there task manager? I come from the Windows Mobile world, and, as archaic as the OS was, it was very easy to bring up the task manager, just like in the Desktop Windows OS, and close any or all apps to reclaim memory and speed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have this Motorola Flipside and I installed GOLauncher on it. With it I am using the GO Task Manager, and some other widgets, etc. as well. I have noticed that I will close out stuff I am not using any more, using the GO TM widget, and I will turn off the display/put phone to sleep. Then I'll get a text or something and tend to that, hit the home screen and will see the TM and there are like 10 apps open. I'll close them out again and put the phone back to sleep. A few mins later an e-mail or text comes in and I'll tend to it, home screen, again, a bunch of random apps show up in the TM.
Apps like Facebook Camera, ESPN Score Center, GPS, News, Settings, a widget that I don't even use and others randomly populate in the TM. I haven't even opened them or used them, but they are there. The things that were used are in there, and the items I have locked are there, but that's expected. I just don't understand why things are showing up there that haven't been opened. And randomly? Sometimes I will even close them out, hit refresh on the widget and it will just be what is supposed to be there, hit refresh again, bam - more random things show up. Close those, hit refresh a few times, those/others show up again.
What do I need to change? Or is this just something to do with the phone/launcher, perhaps?
I'm looking for something that will close apps (and the commands that make them relaunch) in an automatic way (i.e every time the said app is beign activated).
I need something non root ( the apps being closed are not an internal part of the rom), preferably free, and that is trustworthy (security wise).
No matter what task manager you're using, I'm curious as to what programs are in your exclude lists. I've added programs that I noticed continuously popping up (I guess the phone wants them?) as well as some of the widgets I have running. Here's my list: Code...
View 3 Replies View RelatedA number of users of my app have reported that on the Nexus One, running Froyo 2.2, the app appears multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list that is displayed when you long press the home button. Personally, I have not been able to replicate the issue. Have tried killing the app with a task killer then restarting it to see if that would cause the app to appear more than once on the list. Also tried spawning multiple thread from within an activity in the app, but still no go. I have also tested on Droid phones running 2.2 as well as on the 2.2 emulator but to no avail. It is curious that only Nexus One Froyo users experience the issue. The app has one main launcher activity, about 30 different activities and is divided into 4 main tasks to help manage the activity stack. The app also has an IntentService for running network operations in the background. Is there any know scenario that could cause an app to appear multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list? Is the 'Recent Apps' list populated based on the app package name e.g. com.mycompany.myappname or based on the tasks defined in the application manifest file?

Adding to my confusion is the fact that I'm noticing the phone get sluggish lately, even after a fresh reboot, with only two programs running (Pandora and sportypal). The past 3 days, there were no problems, but now I cannot run with music because the music continues to skip - and pandora becomes unresponsive.I thought perhaps there were too many apps (I've downloaded about a dozen apps) and so I uninstalled most of them.No better.What, if anything, am I missing? View 2 Replies View RelatedI like how in winmo , you can click the top right icon area and pull up all open apps to quickly switch between them. with android, i have to hit the home screen, swipe left (usually one time) to find my app and "re-open" it again. it's a hassle. maybe android doesn't have this option, maybe it's just a winmo thing, but i'm still getting adjusted from winmo > android.

These are MY apps on my vibrant:
WHERE - a restaurant finder. Pretty good, I've had issues with the app pinpointing my location, but could have been a fluke.
YELP - another restaurant finder.
FACEBOOK - no introduction needed. This app really needs an update. Keeps switching me b/w the app and the mobile site. Some of my mail threads on fb stop halfway and I can't see new replies.
MOTRIS - a tetris style game. Kind of good but hard to move the pieces around.
TASK MANAGER - an app killer. Pretty good. Could be a lot better, though.
FANDANGO - an app that helps you find theaters near you. Good.

I am writing an app that wants to be able to handle URLs. I also want to be able to launch it stand-alone with no arguments, so I've specified two intent filters: I have also specified android:launchMode="singleTask". Now, if I explicitly launch my application from the application list, its name and icon can be found in the "recent apps" list that pops up when I hold the home key. If I then use the email application to open a URL in my application, my application disappears from the "recent apps" list. Why does this happen, and what can I do about it? I notice that the Browser application doesn't behave like this, and it has similar intent filters and the same launchMode..
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst off let me tell you what I have done. I've turned off Wifi, 4G, email updates when I check it. I turn off internet and the other "data to apps" setting. I lowered the brightness. Turned off GPS and Bluetooth.
As of now I'm doing the plugging in charger, unplugging trick several times...to see if that helps. (I must admit it's stupid that I even have to try this)
So, here are my questions:
1. How to I add apps to the ignore list for advanced task killer? I go to the ignore section and it's just a black screen. I don't know how to add apps.
2.What exactly is the CDMA" thing? I know what to do (I've seen the link)...but I don't know WHAT it does. Will it effect my ability on the phone?
3. What exactly is Google Talk...and how do I get rid of it(if it takes a lot of battery power) I noticed that if I hold the "finder" button and talk I can search on google! Really cool! If I turn off google talk is that feature gone? Also...how do I turn off google talk? (I could find it...but I consider this my "lazy" question".
I've been using Task Panel X and Advanced Task manager to kill unneeded tasks and keep memory at a maximum.
Recently, every time I open Task Panel X and then revert back to Home screen I get the HTC logo and then a loading screen while the device sets itself. This happens even if I kill NO tasks.
So my solution was to uninstall Task Panel X and then use just Advanced Task Manager. All the sudden, same result.
Everytime I open either of these apps and then go back to home screen I get a BLACK SCREEN WITH HTC LOGO, THEN A BRIEF (10 SECONDS) LOADING SCREEN. THEN ALL IS NORMAL.
I know this was talked about before at different times but I still have 3 questions.
1. what is the difference between a task killer and a task manager?
2. should we be using one of these apps or not?
3. when you look at the awake time if it is like 70% or 80% and you aren't using the phone a bunch I take it that means something is running,how can you find what is running.and is the awake time that big of deal?
Looking for a guide on how to use task killer. I had task killer on and deleted it. I think I was killing tasks that were needed to keep certain functions running that I use frequently. If someone would take the time to help me understand how to use one, I think I would be much more successful with it.

I call be listening to music take an incoming call then after the other party hangs up my phone opens the recent call list. I would like it to just got back to what ever I had open at the time of the call, like the music app.

it started when i wanted to turn it to look like JB ,, intalled launchers , widgets , lockscreens ...etc
then i replaced the file : " systemui.apk " with a mod one ....
after i rebooted i found that many things crashed .... like :::
- My statusbar/notifications bar .
- i cant open task manager when long pressing home .
- my background turned to Black ,,, and just black cannot change to another ,, when i do so nothing changes it keeps black

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Note 2 with Cleanrom 4.7.0 and Nova prime. I've searched the forums but can't find a solution. My task manager randomly stops working (press and hold home) at least once a day. I will get haptic feedback when the home button is long pressed but nothing will come up. Sometimes I'll long press the home button and the task manager will show up for a split second and then disappear. A restart usually fixes the problem but it's getting annoying as this happens a couple times a day.

I mistook it as something else and selected it. Now the Task Manager in my phone is disabled. Not shown in anywhere in the phone. As i press my home key long, it shows recent apps with a option "Task Manager". but m not able to select it. as i click it, the phone hangs and is rebooted.

I know these active apps don't have any CPU usage but active apps r meant to use power rite?
