I am about to build an app which needs to use device internal storage memory extensively, a lot of reads, writes and overwrites of the files.
I assume that most of the android devices use a kind of a flash memory, but where can I find more data on this topic for the most common memories used, like how many reads/writes can an internal flash endure before failing?

My EVO actually writes to sd card faster than it reads it. I test 3 different memory cards. The speed varies a little but the end result is the same. The write speed is much faster than the read speed. I only notice it now because I usually transfer files to the card and delete them later on. I finally made a few backup roms (4 at about 2GB total size) and tried to move to my laptop. Needless to say the process was slow (over 30 minutes). I can transfer the same files back into the card in the EVO in about 4 minutes.
Below is a same of my transfer speed in the EVO. The same card outside of the EVO has a write rate of 7-10 MBs and read rate of 17 MBs. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w159/fithos_bucket/snap20100818_095238.png
After Installing a new firmware for my 8gb galaxy mega i9205 I got a internal memory error . If I open storage stats it reads 7GB miscellaneous files and if I open app manager it display as free space.Root explorer cant open the internal storage !
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am writing a app that reads a file from the internal storage on startup. I have followed the guildelines here:

It successfully works on the emulator, and I can find the file my app created under
DDMS > data > data > com.MyAppName > files.
Now I would like to install my app on a real device, but do I need to explicitly copy the file onto the device? If so, what's the location should I copy the file to? Or will the file be created when I install my app? I need some pointers or guidelines, I'm quite clueless about the device. Or perhaps if anyone knows any keywords for me to search for an answer.
Is anyone aware of a file manager that can read both the internal DINC memory and the SD card? Perhaps I'm missing something, but I've tried both ASTRO File Manager and ES File Explorer with no success.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I installed the update.zip without taking any steps to retain root, so of course now that 2.2 is installed I no longer have root. I did a cache wipe and data wipe, then setup RSD Lite to flash the 2.1 SBF onto my phone so I can follow the procedures to keep root while upgraded to 2.2.When I click start on RSD Lite, I am getting a failed flash process error.Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Also, the device properties are showing a lot of N/A in the place of version numbers, IMEI/ESN/MEID, etc.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to do anything permanent to my sd-card. I was on my vacation so all my vacation photos were deleted. It is writable, I can delete, write and change as I want but when it's rescanned all changes (delete, write etc...) were never made and it sets itself back to the 23rd. Now I have access to my computer so I formatted the sdcard hoping it would fix it. After I put it in my phone all files popped back up. So my case is:I cannot make any permanent writes/changes to it.
Formatting doesn't seem to work. Once again, it is writable (Temporarily), i took a photo and pushed it into the /system partition, it was there but not on the sdcard after reboot. Root explorer have options for mounting it R/w and R/O (It doesn't normally do that).
Is it possible to flash new ROM in TWRP recovery from internal storage without using PC. I moved new ROM to my phone and i can see it in TWRP but is it safe to install it like that? Should i move new ROM in some specific folder first or not?
View 1 Replies View Related0.00b is keeping me from installing apps and rooting my device. However, the SD folder, which stores all my media is still reading 2.3GB.
I also cannot access my recovery mode.
I read that the solution is flashing a new rom, but I don't know how to do that without a recovery or root.
Initially all worked OK. But then after some installs from the Market i am not able to access any internal flash storages. Phone was not rooted.
Here are some facts:
- i see the drive letters assigned for both of them on PC but when you click Explore the message is "Please insert a disk into drive M: (or N or whatever)".
- They are shown as mounted on the phone . Dismount and mount again changes nothing
- the phone is recording photos/videos OK on internal memory means flash is working fine.
- SD card is perfectly working too. if you extract it and put into computer you can read/write it. On the cell you can play music from it etc no problems
- I restored everything with Factory Data Reset but things did not change
- Same story from another PC
- Samsung Kies shows the files in PC Windows Media Player which are on Vibrant's SD card but can not read/download them
Is this some driver problem ? Or flash memory is locked by Vibrant OS?
I suspect EasyTether or PDANet third party driver for Samsung phones is responsible.

SO I flashed my BH2 to Eugenes 1.6 for galaxy rom and now my external sd card...yeah, the 2 GB one that came with the phone, is being recognized as the internal sd card....and there is no setting i can find to fix it. I formatted the sd card and reformatted it, but to no avail...still comes up when inserted into the phone as an internal sd card. b/c of this issue, i cant save pretty much anything to my phone, b/c many apps require an external sd source to save to.

Chrome Beta bookmarks sync fine, it's only the builtin browser that is failing to sync. I would use Chrome Beta if I could but it's so damn crash-happy that it's unusable (I assume it's a CM compatibility problem that isn't resolved yet).Here is the relevant log entries from a failed browser sync attempt:

Basically it's just that over and over again. I've tried clearing the data in the browser app settings then resyncing, and I have also confirmed that on my PC my settings are set to encrypt passwords only (as a google search revealed some people had issues when encrypting everything).I'm a heavy user of my device and being unable to access my bookmarks is quite frustrating.
So I've had this Samsung Note 8.0 for around 6 months now. Had been content with it, but after the first couple firmware update (including the most recent one to 4.2.2) my front camera always fails. My rear camera works fine but when I select the self portrait icon, it will show up 'Camera Failed' and closes down. It has happen too often now, have done everything recommended online.
Clear Cache, Force Stop, Clear RAM, Factory Reset (I've done this so many times now). I used to think it's a hardware problem but reading stuffs online they say it's a software problem. What should I do??
I installed CM11 on my sgh-t849 tablet.. it works but when i try to flash GApps Core 4.4.2 it fails and stop working.. can i just install the apk onto a external sd card and just install that way and it work fine or?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a SGS 3 and often use 2x client to RDP into my Windows PC. Everything worked great until I installed the free Windows 8 Enterprise 90 day evaluation on my PC. Now, the app will connect, and the PC thinks it is being accessed, but all I get is a blank screen on my phone.
I tried this with every other (free) RDP app out there and they all do the same thing.
My Galaxy S2 is currently running this firmware with Android 2.3.4:

I get told that there is an update waiting in OTA , so I let it download, reboots, starts to install, then fails, reboots, tells me to try via KIES or contact Samsung. But when I go into Kies... there is no button to let me update my firmware... it just tells me my current firmware version, nothing else like it usually would...
Not custom ROM, no root, battery 100%. Wifi/HSPA makes no difference..My friend has the same phone with the same firmware and it works fine with him?

I've come to find out that the Moto Droid only reports battery life in 10% increments. Have they developed any apps that are able to accurately show 1% increments on the Moto? However, within the last day, I've been getting an error message which reads "Connection Failed: This application requires network access. Enable mobile network or Wi-Fi to download data." I've gotten this message when initiating the browser, going into email, etc. Of course, I can't access anything via the web.
When I go to settings, mobile network is checked off, although it does say "turning on..."
I really really really want a kindle 2 reader, but it isn't my birthday until December, so I've downloaded the kindle for Android application to my Sony Ericsson X10 Experia, I've only downloaded one book so far, but I read it within a day, I noticed at the end of the book that it said "quick read". Are all the books supplied quick reads? Is this the same on the Kindle reader? If this is the case I won't be buying one, I want the full version of the books!

Just by changing .mp4 to .mp3 and the music player was able to read it and I'm able to put it in playlist and listen to it. Now that I've rooted to 2.2 Music player no longer reads it.Have you guys had this problem?
