Apr 16, 2010On the home screen, menu, settings, call settings there is "voice privacy" and "voice privacy notification" does anybody know what call privacy is or does and why would I want to be notified? I was trying to see if I can set the number of rings before voicemail picks up. I couldn't find the option I was looking for, instead I found this and I have no idea what it does. I am away from home and don't have the manual with me.

Dec 28, 2009I just got the Hero today and I am very annoyed by the SMS feature of displaying the text message on the screen. It seems that I can either have absolutely no notification of a new text message or I can have this major intrusion of privacy by having the message displayed for all to see. I hand my phone to people constantly to use at my job sites. I trust they are not fishing around in my phone, but when it just shows up on the screen, how can they help but read it. Is there a privacy mode or a way of turning off that display bar?

May 14, 2012Any app for GPS navigation which has voice routing possible in pedestrian mode? I sometimes need to go to some destination in a part of the city which is not familiar for me.
However, the navigations I tried, have voice routing only in car mode, so it has to take in account things like driving directions etc. which the pedestrian does not have to respect and thus the track is much shorter.
It would be nice if I, for example, just could get off the bus, switch my GPS on, select destination, activate the voice routing and put my phone in a pocket and let the navigation voice guide me to the target place. It would be more comfortable as I sometimes see the map very poorly and also have to keep an eye on other pedestrians, cars etc.
Currently tried Sygic and it does not have this.

Now I want to know is there a alternate to edit permissions for apps like in lbe.

General :: Messenger With Secret / Privacy Features?
Mar 3, 2014I'm searching for some messenger with strong privacy and "secret" features. Better explained, I've found Telegram as a good alternative to Whatsapp with its encryption features, but it lacks one thing that I really need: I'd like to keep some chat very private: it will be very useful if the conversation had some kind of PIN-password-pattern unlocking features.
This is possible for sms (Handcent, for example), but I haven't found it in any Messenger service.
General :: No Privacy Policy In App Menu Or On Website
Aug 20, 2010I found a program on the Android Market called "Vaulty" (there are both free and paid versions), which password-protects media such as pictures and videos. Upon reviewing the app, there is no privacy policy in the app menu, or on the website. The app does require full internet access (advertisements), SMS/MMS control (to save MMS attachments?), and of course permissions to modify SD content.
If the content is hidden, there is probably a good reason why it is, and I just wanted people to consider this when downloading an app. Someone might end up with pictures of your wife, husband, significant other, dog, cat, computer password, or whatever you're trying to hide.

Mar 26, 2012there are those of us, who due to whatever reason (helmet cams, preference for posture, etc) want to record videos in portrait mode.
What happens (on my sgs2) is that the video records just fine in whatever resolution I pick... but it records it 90 degrees rotated to the right.
The solution that is usually offered is that "you can rotate it after!" yes... but then you have to CROP part of the image and lower the resolution. 1920 x 1080 recordings end up having to be cropped so that half of the view is cut out , or even more if you are maintaining a real aspect ratio.
The questions about "why not just hold it sideways", are just as pointless as the statement by steve jobs telling iphone4 users that they were holding their phones wrong.
is this something that can be remedied ? or has google decided that people should only record videos when their phones are in landscape mode?
i understand that we cant see landscape resolution in portrait mode; but can't we just have a viewport into the camera, but record in properly oriented landscape mode? so that playback on a computer will show the full resolution, even though we will only see part of it on the phone..

I gave the "factory defaults" reset in two ways, but it didn't help.

How could I get the backup data from the SD, while the bloody tab has gone somewhere...
It seems, that backup-directory still remains with several *.arc -files.

Oct 11, 2010I have a student who sent a text message to me (Motorola Droid/Verizon) and since has been able to track my location GPS. He posted pictures on facebook, and then also showed me my current location this past weekend.
So it seems, because of the one text message he sent (I replied), He is now able to track my coordinates wherever I go. Obviously, I am really bothered by this invasion of privacy.
The text message he sent was : "GPS my Droid"
And I responded: "Huh?"
I would like to know what I can do to block whatever he is doing.
I am rooted, running Ultimate Droid.
Android :: K-9 Mail Privacy Setting?
May 24, 2010I use the K-9 email app for some of my email accounts that aren't gmail. I have it working the way I want save only one problem. Right now when I get a mail it flashes the subject line or the first line of the email across my notification bar at the top of my screen. This is especially troubling when I'm in the car and I have my droid mounted in the car dock. I don't necessarily like my passengers in the car to be able to read the email message I just got as their heads whip to the droid when it says ..... DROID!
Handcent app doesn't have this problem. I can set each individual contact to a privacy mode where so I only get notified, but no part of the text appears in the notification bar. Is there a similar "privacy" setting for K-9 that I'm missing? If I can't get this figured out soon I'm going to have to try another email app.

Oct 19, 2013Trying to root my Trekstor Ventos 8 and follow the instructions by pressing volume - and power on button. Keep getting into safe mode instead of CWM mode. If i press volume + and power butten I get into recovery mode. How or why do/dont I get into CWM mode? Android 4.1.1 is installed.
