When trying to use tasker to shut off wifi after touching an nfc tag I occasionally get the following:
It happens about 50% of the time and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm running on an AT&T Galaxy S3 running Task's AOKP newest build. Is this a tasker issue or something else entirely?

What I'm trying to do is call-forward my number to Dell VOIP when connected to WiFI, but I want to kill the Dell Voice app when I'm not connected to wifi because it's a battery drainer. So far I have everything setup so that when I'm on WiFi, all calls get routed through WiFi into the Dell Voice app.. what I cannot figure out how to do is kill the app once I disconnect from WiFI. I tried searching but couldn't find an answer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Tasker to turn Airplane mode when the wifi is disconnected IF theres no cell signal and then turn airplane mode off again agter 2 seconds. At the momnt this is what I got:
Airplane mode ON using Secure Settings.
Not Wifi Connected >[code]....
When I press the PLAY button on the task it does turns on Airplane mode but when I test it by turning off my wifi it shows that the Task is active but Airplane mode is not turned on.
Just learning how to use Tasker. Searching the internet to get whatever help I can find. One thing I am not seeing that I really want to do is:When I open the browser (turn wifi on).(I know how to do this)If wifi is not available ask if I want to turn on mobile data (This is what I can't figure out)If anyone has some suggestions I would love to hear them. Or if someone knows whether or not this is even possible please let me know.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to make a WiFi widget work through tasker. I get the icon, and set it to be WiFi toggle, but it doesn't actually do anything.

Cell near<scanned cells near my house> ---> wifi set on
Wifi near<my SSId>
<-- wifi set off
Now i did this thinking if in my area using scanned cells plus in range of my wifi----> it should turn on
And if the above criteria doesnt match then it should go off
Please advise if i am doing it wrong
I was also thinking when i reach back home phone should say welcome home or something ( was trying just for fun) but that doesnt work properly either i was using it with my wifi profile but the it keeps on reading the message few times i was thinking everytime phone changes the cell it reads the message to me.
I'm not sure if I should have this in this forum or under another one...I can't turn my wife off. Even in settings. I am running the skyraider rom.I went in a killed any tasks that I thought could cause a problem since it just started recently.
View 7 Replies View Relatedok before you all say "why shut it down, its better using wi-fi" i know that and i have my reasons. moving on, i have tried several times now to turn off the wi-fi on my droid, both thru the power control widget and also by going thru settings-wireless-wi-fi turn off wi-fi. but for some reason it keeps coming back on. is the droid set to automatically turn on the wife when ever there is one avail even if i dont want it too? is there some hidden setting i am not seeing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy tablet has a problem that it usually (not always but most of the time) disables all sounds when I touch the screen. Depending on how long I touched the screen the sounds return immideadly or few seconds after I let go. When the sounds return it plays some of the sounds that should have played when I was touching the screen.
Android version is 4.1.1 and model number of the tablet is rk30sdk.
Replaced my Droid X with the RAZR M.
How do I create/edit a contact so that SMS/Text is not an option for a number. I want to hit that contact and have it immediately dial. Some contacts I imported from gmail are already like this but new contacts always have phone or text as the options so I have to select the phone icon to actually dial.
Problem came up because the default voicemail app keeps trying to sell me Visual voice mail. The default Voicemail contact number is not editable so I can't add my pin. Finally deleted the default contact and added my own. So far so good except it always wants to know if I want to send a text?
in Jelly Bean opening an email in the basic email app and then touching anywhere within the email makes the email quickly scroll down to hide the to/from bar. It's the only place in Android where a single touch causes a scrolling response, so when I open the email and begin to scroll with a swipe, it jumps down and then scrolls which is somewhat disorienting as it differs from how scrolling works in every other app including Gmail.

I mean, REALLY! Yes, I own up to being a newbie Android user, and what I don't know could fill the Library of Congress. Still, this is common sense we're talking about here. I've done some industrial app development and Enter/Exit, On/Off are basic pieces of logic in the main loop of an program in any language.
The only reason that we phone users need task killer apps is because you developers insist on creating apps that don't know when the f**k to turn themselves off.
And, it seems to me like you, the app developers, are one of the main reason why these phones have such crappy battery life. I mean, my Samsung Instinct, as bad as it was, got 18 to 24 hours of life off of one charge. With the Hero, I'm lucky if I can get 10 hours, and that's even with configuring my email download to only three times per day!
This is not hard, people. You code the app to stay off until, I, the user, manually turn it on. AND, you also code it to turn off when I, the user, hit the back button.
Yes, I understand that there are certain apps that it is advantageous to keep running in the background. So, fine, make it so those keep running. BUT, there is no possible reason for apps like Flashlight, or BBC News, or Camera, or SprintTV to have to run all the time in the background!
I am so tempted to just trash the lot of you. If I did, maybe I might not have as much functionality, but my teenager would be able to reach me late in the day because my phone battery would still have juice.
I really like the motorola "always ready" feature where you can say "Ok, Google Now" and bring up google now instantly. Is it possible to integrate voice actions into tasker?

I have Tasker on my phone, since I just downloaded the app a few days ago. I have been trying to create a profile where if im connected to my home wifi, the lock pattern on my lockscreen will be off. if im not connected to my home wifi network, I want the lock pattern to be back on. I followed Armandas guide on YouTube but it did not work for me. BTW im on a Galaxy s2, using a 4.2.2 ROM with the DashClock widget as my default lock screen.

I want to take data from torque and use it to drive actions in Tasker. Specifically, I'd like to turn the screen on when the engine comes on. Is anyone aware of previous work done in this area that might get me started? Or, would I need to code a Tasker plugin?

So here I am, knowing the commands and need to run them with one call. How do I do that?
I'd like to have Tasker read incoming texts to me while in the car but pause and playing media first. I have a profile setup to trigger the task and everything work, except the part about pausing the media. As it is now it just read the text over the top of the media and neither are understandable.
I've searched and I can't seem to find a reliable way to determine if media is playing, pause it, then play it again after the text is read. I'm familiar with %MTRACK, but that only works with some players (none of which I use). I typically use PlayerPro and BeyondPod.
I am a complete newbie with tasker. I am trying to create a profile with which I wish to auto-send an sms to wish people, for example on their birthday. So birthdays, set from contact appear on my calendar as "personName. Birthday"
I am able to trigger an action reading "*Birthday" in calendar event. But how do I pass the personName from the trigger, that matched "*Birthday" to the action to use as contact (directly or by extracting number for that contact) and the enter in the message like: Happy Birthday personName!
My phone is samsung note2 7105 (JB4.3) and already rooted. However some apps can't run at rooted status so I need to temp unrooted my phone by using superuser. Is it possible set a rules to switch rooted and temp unrooted by tasker?

I am wondering if I could actually control this setting using Tasker. Example would be only when I open maps do I want to use the "High Accuracy" version. I can not seem to find this in Tasker as there has not been a new version since KitKat. Is there another way of doing this? Script? Etc?

Trying to figure out how to configure my Nexus 4 to use Hacker's Keyboard with specific apps. I like the "swipe typing" for most stuff, but I want HK for ConectBot and some other terminal stuff. The phone is rooted and far I have the following apps: Tasker, Keyboard Swap for Tasker, Secure Settings installed. I've tried a few different things I've found online, but nothing has worked.

My aim: When ran, use a tasker task to execute the WiFi for Root users tether start, and if I'm lucky, stop as well in a separate task.
What I have done: I have locale execute plugin. I start an execute task and in configuration I typed

I have a profile that changes my ringtone based on my location using cell near context and then flashes a message "Ringtone changed". Is there a way to retrieve the ringtone I'm changing it to from the Default Ringtone task and flash "Ringtone changed to %x" instead?

I simply want my GPS signal to turn on when I open my good maps navigation, and then turn off when I close navigation. My psuedo code is below.
Profile: Nav On
Open app: Navigation
Enter Task:
IF %GPS ~ off
GPS set On
