General :: Motorola Always Ready With Tasker?

Aug 6, 2013

I really like the motorola "always ready" feature where you can say "Ok, Google Now" and bring up google now instantly. Is it possible to integrate voice actions into tasker?

General :: Stay On 3G Until WiFi Ready?

Oct 28, 2012

What: make Android greedier with 3g. Don't switch off of it until wifi is associated, has an ip, and can ping the internets i.e. the wifi icon is blue

What device: I have a rooted Atrix 2 with ICS leak ROM (build 67.21.125 by timmytim v1.2) on AT&T if that makes you happy. Is this relevant? Even GB does this

Why: a lot of wifi access points suck and it takes greater than zero time for the wifi icon to turn blue. During this time voice search won't work, browser won't do crap, etc because Android is greedy the wrong direction and has already routed all ip traffic through wifi which isn't ready yet

When: this is especially a problem when I'm walking across campus with less than perfect wifi coverage, or when I try to do something on the internet in my car outside right before heading to work (what did that email say?) where there's enough signal to associate but is poor enough to not get my phone access to the tubes (let me waste 30 seconds by switching off wifi to see...)

Why: because I want uninterrupted internet access and AT&T makes me pay for 2gb even when I only use 500meg

How? You tell me. I spent 15 seconds searching all 18 yottillian pages on the internet and nothing came up in the first three results on Google or here, therefore it doesn't exist. Maybe you know where I'm not looking? Maybe I can cross-compile iptables into my ROM and use/make an app for logic? Maybe I can buy 8 billion wireless access points and distribute them evenly across the globe and give people everywhere free internet like they deserve because it's 2012 not 2002?

General :: Computer Can't Ready MiniSD Card

Apr 30, 2013

We upgraded our android phones (LG Thrill and Inspire) to a different phone. The person in radio shack advised us to backup the contacts list to the SD card which we did. We got our new phones and when we came home we were not able to open the SD card on the computer (vista). Every time I plug the SD card via card reader the computer wants to format the card first, I followed the format instructions once and it error-ed out.

How can I open the contents of the SD card with a computer without using a cell phone? I just need the contacts list from it.All searches in google and youtube leads to using a cell phone which we don't have, or using some third party software which didn't work.

General :: How To Turn Stock ROM In Ready-to-install ROM

Sep 3, 2013

I am interested in turn the stock rom of my phone in a ready-to-install rom. I mean, roms usually are .zip files with scripts that writes the customized files to the system file, overwriting the old files. I want to know how to take the stock rom of my phone and turn it in a intallable .zip file, like a customized rom.

After a normal installing the phone would be like the phone with the original rom, without changes.

I am interested in this for make changes and costumizations in the stock rom for then reinstall it. Normally, rom porting is made by taking a compatible rom (like CM) and taking the wished to port rom and changing directories like /system, /data, etc... Am I right? Well, if a would take the original rom of my phone and would turn it in a installable .zip, I could make ports, right?

Motorola Droid :: Want Longer Battery Life / Seidio's Extended Batteries Are Ready

Dec 23, 2009

seidioonline.com 2600mAh...almost double stock value.FWIW, I've had one in my Motorola Q for the past year, 2100mAh, and there is a direct correlation on mAh value and usage time compared to stock. So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.

Motorola Droid X :: Tasker Doesn't Work Unless Use Motorola Control Panel

Aug 4, 2010

Tasker does not seem to function unless I use the motorola control panel and turn on bluetooth, wifi, and gps. If I shut these off via the control panel then tasker does not turn them on at the appointed times and events.Which begs the question, is tasker REALLY turning them off? or are the icons just going away in the notification bar (because they still show as on in the control panel widget)Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Motorola Droid :: Using Tasker To Fix Headset Music Autostart

Aug 10, 2010

I know many have the Droid issue where the music app will automatically start and play with certain headsets. It seems this is related to some headsets causing an erroneous media button event when plugged, unplugged or moved. I understand that rooted users can use the Autostarts app to disable the music app from starting. This is for non-rooted users who are looking of an alternative.

I've created a few Tasker scripts that seem to eliminate the problem. First I created a task that runs an android media stop command and displays a popup so I know when the event occurs. Then I created 2 profiles that use this task. Media button play and media button next. Both profiles have grab and stop checked. This seems to stop the music player from starting when a headset sends a bad event to my droid.

So far I have everything setup so that when I'm on WiFi, all calls get routed through WiFi into the Dell Voice app.. what I cannot figure out how to do is kill the app once I disconnect from WiFI. General :: How To Use Data From Torque In Tasker

Oct 8, 2012

I'm looking for a way to use data from Torque in Tasker.

I want to take data from torque and use it to drive actions in Tasker. Specifically, I'd like to turn the screen on when the engine comes on. Is anyone aware of previous work done in this area that might get me started? Or, would I need to code a Tasker plugin?

I'm aware I could accomplish this using ACC power as the on/off flag, but I'd like to charge the tablet at all times and not just when the car is running.

General :: How To Stop And Start Tasker By Itself Via Bashscript

Sep 16, 2013

I want to stop and start tasker by itself via a bashscript since I see no other way to do so. This works if you put in terminal line by line:

Code:

am force-stop net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n net.dinglisch.android.taskerm/net.dinglisch.android.taskerm.Tasker
killall net.dinglisch.android.taskerm

But now I'm stock

My guess was that it would have to work if i put in a file "kst.sh" and run

Code:

sh ./kst.sh
as root.

But it doesn't work and it seems to ignore the linebreaks in the file.

So here I am, knowing the commands and need to run them with one call. How do I do that?

General :: Can Tasker Determine If Media Is Playing?

Dec 17, 2012

I'd like to have Tasker read incoming texts to me while in the car but pause and playing media first. I have a profile setup to trigger the task and everything work, except the part about pausing the media. As it is now it just read the text over the top of the media and neither are understandable.

I've searched and I can't seem to find a reliable way to determine if media is playing, pause it, then play it again after the text is read. I'm familiar with %MTRACK, but that only works with some players (none of which I use). I typically use PlayerPro and BeyondPod.

General :: Tasker With Locale Execute Plugin

Sep 8, 2012

It seems there is a lack of support for using tasker.

My aim: When ran, use a tasker task to execute the WiFi for Root users tether start, and if I'm lucky, stop as well in a separate task.

What I have done: I have locale execute plugin. I start an execute task and in configuration I typed

Code:
/data/data/com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether/bin/tether start
as this is what is displayed when enabling tethering in the WiFi tether app itself.

The problem: Though when ran, this exe task does nothing. Wrong code? Wrong plugin in tasker? I want to do this not just for convenience, but also to learn.

See attached for reference.

If the screen is off + VOLR changes (up or down) >> Screen on.

My problem is with the function that checks if the Volume has changed. I tried several things but nothing worked. Is my idea possible without a rooted device?
