I'm not completely up to date with all the android features as I see a lot of you are as I mostly use the phone for basic multimedia on top of my phones services. I have recently noticed that although I use the advanced task killer to stop apps from running they still continuously turn themselves on and drain my battery. I can't keep watching my phone every second to "kill" them as they pop up. I was wondering if there is another way keep this from happening as there arn't any settings option in these individual apps to stop it or even better. An app to unistall "factory" apps such as MP3 store n so on.

I have heard people say that you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps. I don't have the pro version, do I just go to the Backup/Restore menu and click the app and uninstall? Is that it? Also, some of the apps don't seem to show up in Titanium backup. Specifically, I wanted to uninstall Messenger, but I can't find it in the list. Another thing is I want to uninstall the Google Search so that the search capacitive button won't have that app pop up or any of the search app for that matter. Is it safe to uninstall Google Search?

I've Tried Breaking the Market Links, I've Uninstalled Every App on my Dumbass phone, I've Restored Nandroid Backups that "Were" working Fine!I've Tried to go to the Android Market from my Web Browser, Logged in but Can't figure out how to Uninstall apps that it says are Installed under my Email, but they Aren't...
It's Remembering apps from Two of my Previous phones and Also from my Current phone when I Switched my Build.prop information! Every once in a while it just Mysteriously Fixes itself and I can all of a sudden see My Apps again in the Market app... But I Don't know What's Causing it to Hide My Apps and I Don't know What's Fixing it?

I tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.

When installing a app (after confirm its permissions) - the persmissions like "contact", "calls", etc (all kind of permissions) - are disabled to the dev once I delete the app or he always have access to my info (at permissions) OR at the time I've download the app he have access to the permissions until I delete it and all the permissions are disable?
Usually this information/permissions are availabe to the dev automatically once I install the app or he need manualy to get into this informations? If I force stop the app, will it still have access to my data (permissions) or only if its running?

I have an HTC One X which is rooted, and I am wondering is there a way (or an app) to uninstall other apps without going through the normal uninstaller?
It'd be much faster to select a load of apps and have the phone uninstall them automatically..
I'm asking here rather than the HTC One X area because this is relative to any Android phone.

I saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?

Is there any way to prevent unauthorized or accidental uninstall of apps or modify setting on the phone ?
I mean, some sort of password protection without which the settings cannot be changed or apps uninstalled.

I would like to know if android apps leave traces of themselves behind when I uninstall them (similar to how when you uninstall a windows program you'd most likely have orphan files or directories, registry entries and maybe a .dll here and there). In other words, can I install apps on my stock unrooted ICS phone being confident that if I don't like it I can just uninstall them and my phone won't be slower, or have less space because of it?

I recently updated my android to 4.3. A lot of people say that if you get a big update, it is the best to do a factory reset for faster performance. Is that true?
If that is the case, is there a way to do a factory reset and keep some data of some apps? Like example, i have an app that I spend my money on to buy ingame items and such. If i do a factory reset, all my ingame items will be gone and have to restart everything.
is there a 100% safe backup and do a factory reset for me to keep my app data?

I have installed some apps from Android Market to my Galaxy y. I needed to reset the factory settings and all the apps in the phone was erased. I only wanted to delete the email account. I tried to go to Android Market to reinstall. But it won't get in my phone anymore even when I click on install. There is a button that says installed. I checked on "manage account" setting and none of the applications are there. From Android market, when I click on "My Library" I see all the apps that I have downloaded before.
Question: Is it not possible to reinstall these free apps again? If so how do I do it?

I was trying to root my HTC One V and i unlocked the bootlocker, however that resulted in factory reset of my phone.Whenever i installed an app on my phone i always moved it to sd card via settings-->apps.I assumed that once my phone restarts after factory reset it will read the apps in the sd card but it is not so.The phone does read songs, pictures and contacts stored on my sd card and the sd card does have the folder of each app but how do i install it from the sd card?

I have an Orange UK branded HTC Desire HD running stock firmware & NOT rooted. Since the fairly recent 2.3.5 update with Sense 3.0 I have found that I am regularly seeing Sense restart upon exiting an app and returning to the home screen. This is not related to a particular app, as it can happen when returning to home from ANY app. My wife is seeing the same behaviour on hers too.
Having posted on both HTC's & Orange's Facebook pages, I have been advised in no uncertain terms that as a first step I should perform a factory reset.
This is something that I have not done since I got my DHD (my 1st Android - plenty of hard resets on WM ). I have had a bit of a tidy up - clearing unnecessary data, uninstalling apps I don't use, etc. Pretty much ready to reset (but aware that there is SOME data that I will lose). However, there is one thing that I am unsure about...
I have previously moved a number of apps to the SD card. If I leave them there, will the existing data be recognised upon reinstalling the apps? Or will it cause me problems? Or will the existing data just be orphaned? I.e. should I move all apps back to the phone before performing the reset?

I factory reset my old unused S3 and I'm now trying to re-purpose it (as a wifi only device). The problem is when I re-add my Google account to it, Google Play automatically starts re-downloading ALL my apps to it and I don't want that (probably over 100) - I just need 4 to 5 apps from that account re-downloaded (I don't mind doing it manually). How do I get Google Play to NOT automatically re-download all those apps?

I see a few "uninstall apps" on the market and I am wondering why there are such applications. Uninstalling an app from the phone is not that complicated and it is quite fast. Maybe my question is silly but I am very new to Android. I know that Windows for example does not uninstall programs properly, and one needs often a third party program to really make a clean uninstall. Is that the same with Android, or do these apps just make it faster to uninstall an app (with the same result that one will get with a "uninstall" process through the apps manager)?

Had android phone for about three weeks. Samsung Galaxy S (T-Mobile UK) Loving it to bits, but as per usual there have to be "but's". so, BUT, i hate uninstallation procedure and how you cannot uninstall stuff without going through millions of annoying "are you sure", "done", "ok" buttons. It's a problem because, as should be expected, i jumped into app downloading pretty deep. So now i have boatloads of stuff needing uninstallation and the process put me to sleep yesterday, very literally. I haven't even gone fifth of the way to intended uninstallation target. Got some apps that supposedly do batch uninstall, but you still have to mash, "uninstall" and "done" buttons for every single uninstalled app, which kind of defeats "batch uninstallation" purpose. Any ideas on the app, where i can select, push "uninstall" and forget about the rest? I do understand the risks, btw, you dont have to tell me.

Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

I introduced myself as a "digital dog" barking for "Apps! And so I quickly filled my Hero until getting a notice saying it's too full with only 15MB left. Trouble is, I'd like to add even more. So is there a way to make room in my phone (not my SD card) other than uninstalling? I don't think it's possible to move apps to my spacious card and link them, right? I'm still going through the apps to see which ones work and fit into my life, and don't want to uninstall any just yet. Is there another way?
