Any roms out there designed to turn an outdated or lowend android phone into a PMP/MP3 player? I know they already have the capacity to play media, but wonder if battery/performance would be better if you trashed all the cellphone parts of android and designed a UI just for media playback. DROID4

I've got a new phone recently, and I'd like to turn my old HTC legend into a mp3 player.I'd like to completely remove Android and just make it a file manager similar to an iPod Classic, so I can play audio and video files.
I want the file manager to be the ONLY program on the phone, exept being able to take pictures (although the last is optional)
I have rooted my Galaxy pro B7GT510. later mobile works normal for 20 mins. after it notifies to update superuser, so I updated it from market - upto this it was ok. Later it notifies to as SU Binaries outdated and need to update so I click on update and message appears that it is updated successfully and on the second moment my phone got OFF, and not getting ON niether normal booting nor recovery or downloading mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first plugged in my ear phones into my first Hero phone after a while (5 min) the songs shuttled and turned itself off. I tried to listen to some music again but the phone didn?t recognise that the ear phones were plugged in after that. I sent that phone back and got a new phone. I was going to wait until 2.1 OS came out but when I heard that it wasn?t coming out till March I thought I might try this new phone out been as though I have had it for a couple of months without listening to any music (expected the same though). And the same happen again. It sounds like its the 1.5 OS or the ROM not updated yet because I had already set up all the phone before I realised I had to do this. So thats why I decided to wait until 2.1 and get it all over with and hope it solves the problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an old beat up Motorola Droid 1 that I've been using as a dedicated dash cam in my car and it's been working great except the battery life isn't great. I keep it in Airplane Mode and it is always connected to the charger but it only charges when the car is running, so when I'm not driving the phone stays on and after a day it dies. Need increasing the battery life? It's rooted and running a custom ROM (Bugless Beast) v0.5 which is Android 2.2) so I'm able to disable any unnecessary apps or services that aren't being used. I'll never use it as anything except a dash cam so even things like GPS are unnecessary. I don't have any apps installed besides the ones used for the dash cam functions.
I keep the phone in a windshield mount and it stays plugged in and I have an app called AutomateIt that detects power whenever I turn on the ignition and it opens up another app called DailyRoads which is set to automatically start recording once opened. I then have AutomateIt set to detect when the power source is shut off and it closes DailyRoads at that point. It works great and all videos are saved to the phone's microSD card. To save space I disabled audio recording so only video is recorded. Finally, I have a tiny wide-angle lens glued over the phone's regular camera lens so that there's a much wider field of view than normal. The more I capture the better.
It stinks that Samsung didnt make one but is it possible for a developer to make one that works with the Galaxy S default music player? I dont use a lock screen at all so I have no way of controlling the music besides going into the music player app. I am currently using Meridian player which has a music player widget btw. I plan to get the Epic 4g and want to use the samsung player, but it needs a widget

I will get a triangle in my notification bar, open it and the music player is running and listed as ongoing. There is no stop button, only pause, and apparently backing out of the app does not turn it off. Should I look into a task killer for this?

So we just got our Vibrant, and guess what, in a couple months dual core will be here, and we know how fast time flys.
Honestly, with all this GPS crap going on, I didn't even get to enjoy my soon to be outdated phone.
Samsung will release a new dual core chip, and with graphics that are 5x that of what we have in our phone.

I'm kinda not happy about this, septemeber will be over soon, and those new phones will be 2 months away.
This is also just my opinion, but the slow pace that samsung and T-mobile are going, I bet Android 2.2 will be the last official update T-mobile gives us for this phone.

Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.

This thread basically sets up a connection with the server and is active throughout the lifetime of the application.I have two functions in the thread class, send and receive data from server.Therefore, when the other activities need to send/receive data from server, they use those particular functions.First of all please let me know if what I am trying to do is fine as per the architecture of the operating system. If its fine, when I try to run the code, the app crashes and i see a NullPointerException and a RuntimeException in the DDMS log.Could some one please help me out in this or suggest a better way to implement the concept.Also, please be assured that, the other functionality of the code works perfectly fine.

Although she wants it to be small so I did my research and all I came up with is the Wildfire.However I've read that the screen resolution is much lower than on the Desire. Is that a real problem? I liked the video capabilities of the X, but from everything I'd read motoblur sucks. Also, for some strange reason I was hung up on the Dinc's lack of a dedicated camera button. I ordered my Dinc at 3 pm today, and I'm pleased to say it will be here by 3pm tomorrow. At which point I'm going to run over my Blackberry 8900 with my car.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to see a thread for my own sake and others on what apps people have removed and what is safe.In order to remove an app use these directions.Footprints: (I had to do a Nandroid backup after removing this becauuse maps would not load in navigation) some online have reported the same problem while others here said it worked for them) JUST BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST.Another app to watch for is Friendstream as people have reported problems with constant sync issues.(Also just a question when removing apps do you need to run the same command line ending with .odex?)
