General :: Some Application That Monitors Other Applications Activity

Oct 15, 2012

I'm interested about some application that can provide information about other application activity - like monitor the battery usage, data trafic, cpu time and so on.

Do you know such an application? Can you give me some examples of application that does that?ROOT/Un-ROOT doesn't matter - I need an in-depth information about this subject.Doing reports, and generating logs about different things that are monitored is a plus.

Android :: Can Use Google Applications Account In Gmail Application?

Nov 16, 2009

So the one factor that will decide if I will buy the Droid or not, is if I can use my Google Apps standard addition gmail address, ie hikingfan@your-group.com, with the native gmail and google calendar applications on the Droid. Does anyone know if this is possible and whether it works well or not? Are there any other limitations to using a Google Apps account on the Droid, like access to the marketplace? Thank you so very much, I desperately want to use the Droid for my work phone but I want to make sure that I can actually do work on it.

Applications :: Any Simple Application For Reminding Missed Event?

Dec 22, 2009

Just switched over to the Moment after being a BB and Iphone user for the past few years. Love the phone. I have been searching for a program that will do something very simple. Just randomly glow on/off the home menu or back button led when I miss a call/sms/receive email etc. when the phone is locked and screen is off.

I work in my office and prefer having my phone turned to off while working with the screen off. So right now, I have to check my phone every so often and it's kind of annoying. I tried the program "Missed reminder" doesn't work at all on my Moment. Heard of a program "Missed Call" cut couldn't find it in the market. I think a lot of Blackberry users would instantly pay $10 for a program that was reliable with customized Alerts through the LED's!

Android :: Google Applications Email With Gmail Application Setup?

Aug 29, 2010

I have read through the threads here and I know this is theoretically possible, but I can't get it to work. I have my Google apps email configured through the regular email app and set to push my email, but it doesn't actually push. I thought I'd try it with the GMail app, but I can't get it set up. When I try to configure it as a Google account, it says it "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" even though my data signal is fine. This happens both on 3G and WiFi.

I had read to add the account as a Google account, using my full username@mydomain.com as the login and my password, so that's what I've been trying. I can't find anything that works for me on here, and the stuff on Google is really outdated and just sends me to the mobile website.

Android : ContentProvider - Other Applications Exactly Manage To Access The Application Data

Jul 25, 2009

I have some questions about how the ContentProvider works behind the scenes.

1. The ContentProvider class is registered in the kernel when the application is installed and then what? Or how do the other applications exactly manage to access the application data?

2. When is actually onCreate called? The documentation is pretty vague...

3. What happens if two applications register the same provider class? (I have more applications that must communicate between eachother. The content provider must be registered, of course, along with the first application installed on the system. The problem here is that I don't know which one will be, so I want to deliver the ContentProvider with all the applications)

Android :: Accessing Battery Info Activity (or Any System General Activity)

Jan 20, 2009

I want to be able to show the Battery Info activity in my app, which shows things such as the exact level, battery health, etc.I'm not sure how I can get it, though a few applications such as Power Manager, Any Cut, etc. show this screen as well. I found in the source code of Settings this intent in a file called testing_settings.xml,But I don't know how to use it. I would guess from the fact that Any Cut has a list of activities, that a list of said activities exists somewhere, and therefore an easy way to access them exists, but I haven't found it.

Android :: Run Application From Last Activity

Jan 23, 2010

I have an application with several Activities. My A Activity has the Manifest Intent filter parameters: action.MAIN and category.LAUNCHER. after its being loaded I call Activity B and finish() A since I don't use it anymore.

After I run my application, go from Activity A to B and press the Home button, when I relaunch it from the applications menu or from the Market app for ex.(not by a long press on the Home button), it starts from the A Activity and do not save its last Activity B.

I definitely know that this is possible to relaunch an application from its last Activity (some application from the Market do support it) and I think that this can be determined by the Manifest parameters but I don't know which one.

How to implement it so my application can relaunch from its last Activity B?

HTC Desire :: Internal Memory - Battery Life - Apple Applications - Average Size Of Application?

Aug 27, 2010

I want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.

1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?
3: Can you install apple apps on HTC desire?
4: What is the average size of an application?

Android :: Launching Another Activity From Application

May 22, 2010

I am trying to launch another application from my Activity. Something weird happens when I am running this code :
Intent myIntent = new Intent( Intent.ACTION_MAIN, null );
myIntent.addCategory( Intent.CATEGORY_LAUNCHER );
myIntent.setFlags( Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_RESET_TASK_IF_NEEDED );
ComponentName compName=new ComponentName(myArray[i][0], myArray[i] [1] );
// String[][] myArray myIntent.setComponent( compName ); startActivity( myIntent );

I have this error :
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class { com.android.settings/com.android.settings.Settings};
Have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml?
But when I replace this line
// myArray[i][0] = "com.android.settings" // myArray[i][1] = "com.android.settings.Settings" ComponentName compName=new ComponentName(myArray[i][0], myArray[i] [1] );
with ComponentName compName=new ComponentName("com.android.settings","com.android.settings.Settings");
And without any modification in my manifest, it works!

Android :: Application Without Main Activity?

Oct 5, 2010

Is there a way to manage application activities by hand, like this: user activating an application from menu, it does some initialization, then creates some activity (is it necessar y to declare all activities in the application manifest?), and listens to it's events. On some event application decides to close one activity and open another - so it contains all the application logic. Didn't found anything like this in examples, they all have all the logic in the activity classes. Maybe I need to user Services? (Maybe I don't understand right, what an activity represents. For me it's like window in windows, or Displayable in j2me) I'm very new to android development, trying to understand the basics.

Android :: Activity In Your Application Is Foregrounded?

Mar 11, 2010

I've got an Android app which has a periodic background Service. I want this Service to react differently depending on whether any Activities in my application are open. The issue is that the Service just keeps itself running via the AlarmManager making it on kind of on a separate "track" from the Activities, so I don't know whether the application is open when it runs.

The best solution I can think of is to flip a boolean on/off whenever onResume() or onPause() is called in all my Activities, but this seems like a lot of footwork. Is there a simpler, more elegant solution?
