View 1 RepliesI'm an android noob. Bought a tablet 2 days ago.
I've saved a chrome bookmark to androids homepage. The icon on the homepage is an ugly generic thing. So i'd like to change it. But how?
I did some google-ing. But all i find how to install another laucher.
Surely there must be an easier way to change an icon?
Any app that, when I single-tap the Home button on my phone, it will check to see if my default browser is open, and if it is not, open it, and set it to the Home address? And of course, if the browser is open, set the browser to the Home address without opening another Tab.
If I need to explain it further, lets just say I want to be able to have my Home button, instead of a tap resetting my phone to the home screen of the launcher, instead, Launch my default Browser (whether it be Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, etc...) to the Home Address. If my browser is open, SET it to Home Address, without opening more tabs.
Long story short, at work, we have this new tablet runs on Android. The administrator has disabled the Home button so the window does not get closed. I'd rather it'd be enabled, and instead, reset the Browser to it's Home address. This particular tablet, will only use this browser window.
New to Android and to Dolphin Browser HD. I've Googled for days, however, I have come up with squat.
1) When I open a new tab, can it automatically go to my homepage and not the "Speed Dial" sort of page it does now? Any add-ons that might enable this?
2) Does Dolphin Browser HD do automatic text reflow? And, if not, any other browsers that can do this? It is pretty tedious now trying to read pages that aren't re-sized for mobile.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand GT - i9082, and whenever I login to the Facebook using the FB app, I have to ALWAYS go through 3 annoying screens/prompts (please see the attached screenshots) before I get to my FB home page. Is there any way this can be avoided?

I updated my SGS2 via KiES (no custom rom) to Android 4.0.3. But the Play Store still thinking my phone is 2.3.4 ?!?! So I can't download ics App like chrome beta?!
What can I do?!
Alright, so I'm having this problem since a few months on both of my devices (Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3). For some reason, chrome keeps on remembering entrys of my history. It doesnt matter how many times I clear the browsing data, even clearing the app data doesnt work.
Web history and predictive search are both turned off. I attached a screenshot as example.
I've scoured the internets looking for an answer and haven't been able to find one. I want to know if there's a way to force Chrome to always open up a new browser tab when opening a link from an app. For example: I frequently use the reader app, and when I click on a link to open in Chrome, it opens it in the same tab as the one for the last link that I clicked. Furthermore, the browsing history isn't saved so I can use the back button to view what I have opened before.
Is there a way to force Chrome to always open up a new tab when I click on a link?
As the thread states I am looking for a way to restrict access to certain websites through Chrome or the device as a whole. My company is releasing devices (non-rooted) that have 4g access and need a way to limit what the users can access.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-i9195, 4.2.2, stock-rooted-themed. I have 2 problems in apps, both Google apps.
1. When I go to Google Maps on the Play Store, It says that 'This item is not available in your country'. (Image attached) I never had this problem and it's a little strange. Anyways, I managed to get the APK and I opened the app and I get the 'No Internet Connection' error. (Image attached) The problem is happening when I'm both on WiFi and 3G. I reinstalled it but still, the same. What may be causing this?
2. When I get into chrome, it is not syncing from my computer, mostly bookmarks. Everything is thicked to sync both on my PC and Android, but it still doesn't sync. I tried reinstalling chrome, disconnecting the Google Account, but without luck. (Image attached) It stays "Loading.." when in settings/sync. (Image attached)
Can't find an answer online. I've been using Habit browser and want to try Chrome for Android. I can export my bookmarks from Habit but I can't seem to import them to Chrome.

I have a new Samsung Tab 3. Logged in with my Google account. However none of my bookmarks are syncing. Google Dashboard says I have the right number of bookmarks, but none show up in Chrome.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have:
* Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) running CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.4).
* On the phone the Google Chrome Beta for Android.
* I have 2 Windows 7 Ultimate running Google Chrome dev channel. In both computers I'm loggin to Google Chrome (not only Gmail, the sync feature of the software).
The thing is this:
I only see the "Mobile bookmarks" on the Google Chrome Beta (on the phone) and also in only one of the Windows 7 computers.
I want to see the "Mobile bookmarks" in the 3 devices: 2 Windows 7 and 1 Android phone.
old laptop was fired up and Chrome sync'd and wrecked my bookmarks on my desktop PCs. The bookmarks on my Nexus in Chrome haven't sync'd up to the server yet and contain all the bookmarks I've lost. I'm looking for a way to extract them from my phone and try to port them back to my desktop.
I'm running stock ICS, but I am unlocked and rooted.
I also have a Titanium Backup that should hopefully also contain a valid back up of the data.
What I want is a shortcut to just to start Chrome in the 'bookmark' page. I don't want any of the bookmark widgets for the home screen - if you have more than a few bookmarks those become useless anyway.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with the chrome browser starting with a completely black screen. At first I thought it was only my last phone (RAZR HD), but the problem is also present on my Verizon Note 3. If it were just an issue on a single phone, I'd probably ask in specific phone forums, but it's happened on two different phones now.
I'm presuming that the problem might be caused by an app I'm using, but the problem is intermittent so I can't tell if the issue subsides when I uninstall certain apps.
I have motorola defy running CM10, and I can sync chrome bookmarks using chrome for android. But the app is a bit laggy on defy, so I am using stock android browser and here is a method to sync bookmark between chrome browsers and android browser:
Quote:
When you go to Android browser it only shows your local bookmarks. Whenever you try to go to settings -> accounts and sync it says that there is a problem in Sync Browser, yet it doesn't say what exactly the problem is. If you have faced this problem here is the solution you were continuously looking for. How to Fix Sync Browser Problem in Android? I identify this problem as a bug when interfacing different Google products. The root cause of problem is Google desktop browser supports encryption for all data types while Android browser supports only for passwords. If you have already encrypted entire data only thing you can do is clear all the data and start it again with only password encryption.
Here is how to do it and sync Chrome bookmarks with Android browser. Go to Google Dashboard confirming your password. Scroll down to section chrome sync and click on Stop sync and delete data from Google. This will delete entire synced browser data in Google account and it might take few minutes. Now open Google chrome, go to Settings. There you can find sign in section. Click sign in to chrome. Here you will have to generate Application specific password if you have enabled Two Step verification. Then it will take you to Confirm sync settings window. Click advance and make sure you have selected encrypt passwords only. If you encrypt all synced data android browser won't be able to work with them. Click OK to proceed with syncing. In your android Smartphone go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> browser and Clear data. Now go to Settings -> Accounts & sync. You will be able to see Sync browser is working fine now. Open the browser and go to Bookmarks. Now you can see all the Bookmarks that you have in desktop browser in your Android Smartphone browser as well.

Xperia Z1 has big fullhd display. Do I really have to use some ****ty mobile version of Chrome on it? Is there any way to make it like on tablet? So it would have full tab support and wouldn't even think about displaying a site in mobile version?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently spotted my 9 year old son searching for inappropriate stuff inside the Google Chrome app. Is it possible to restrict the browser so that when he googles certain words, it wouldn't bring out any results? I've seen programs that do that but I can't recall any of them. Oh, and he's using the original Nexus 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know how to access my Google Bookmarks via Chrome for my Android. In Chrome (Android), I made sure sync was enabled for my Google account and bookmarks is checked. However, when I open the bookmarks on Chrome (Android), nothing appears. If it's worth anything, these bookmarks were added in Firefox, but again these are Google Bookmarks, not saved locally in Firefox.
View 7 Replies View RelatedTo put it short: Dolphin Browser started force closing randomly a few days ago. I couldn't get rid of the problem and tested pretty much every browser available for the Android platform. Opera, Firefox, Boat, xScope, Maxthon and so on, they ALL crash. I don't really like Google Chrome, due to its lack of options (no fullscreen etc.)....
Here is what I did:
- uninstalled and reinstalled Dolphin
- rebooted the tablet
- deleted the app cache (also via "wipe cache partition")
- disabled Google Admob
- executed a full factory reset, installed Dolphin first, still crashing
The problem itself is well documented and affects many OS versions, even more devices and every browser. The only workaround is to disable JavaScript, which of course renders many web pages unusable.
Coming from a Blackberry Playbook with its own fair share of browser related crashes, I'm now utterly frustrated with the situation. The first three weeks with my new Nexus 7 felt absolutely perfect.
Just in case they take an extension i like off the google chrome store, how could i save the extension?
