General :: App To Access Browser Homepage?
Sep 22, 2013
Any app that, when I single-tap the Home button on my phone, it will check to see if my default browser is open, and if it is not, open it, and set it to the Home address? And of course, if the browser is open, set the browser to the Home address without opening another Tab.
If I need to explain it further, lets just say I want to be able to have my Home button, instead of a tap resetting my phone to the home screen of the launcher, instead, Launch my default Browser (whether it be Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, etc...) to the Home Address. If my browser is open, SET it to Home Address, without opening more tabs.
Long story short, at work, we have this new tablet runs on Android. The administrator has disabled the Home button so the window does not get closed. I'd rather it'd be enabled, and instead, reset the Browser to it's Home address. This particular tablet, will only use this browser window.

New to Android and to Dolphin Browser HD. I've Googled for days, however, I have come up with squat.
1) When I open a new tab, can it automatically go to my homepage and not the "Speed Dial" sort of page it does now? Any add-ons that might enable this?
2) Does Dolphin Browser HD do automatic text reflow? And, if not, any other browsers that can do this? It is pretty tedious now trying to read pages that aren't re-sized for mobile.

I just got the Hero today in the UK and am on the Orange network. On the Home screen i have 4 icons and the 3rd one is browser. If I press it I instantly get a white page (Instantly as in no loading time or attempt to connect to the internet) with black writing. It has loads of symbols and http stuff at the start. Then continues with the message "The page you are trying to access is only available via your orange phone when connected via the orange gprs network.
The part at the start also mentions orange world. If I go into More-Settings-Set Homepage I try and change this to google it shows as google is the Homepage. But again if I launch the browser again I get the white page with black writing. The funny thing is I can connect to the internet no problem by typing in a URL manually. And I am using the orange network for that. I called tech supp for orange and the guy was pretty useless and no joy. Why no homepage, but can browse through URLS's?

Can anyone tell me what the default setting is for the homepage of the nexus one's browser (presumable the browser of any other non-carrier-messed-with handset too)? I changed it and now can't remember what it was to set it back again. It used to show a lite version of google.com.

I've had the hero for about a month now, great phone but today some issues arose. When I launch the browser, my home page is google. However it google now loads in Spanish and none of the links will work (thee get highlighted but doesn't take me any where). The same is true for any of my bookmarks, the site loads but is missing images etc., seems to be all text etc., and none of the links work. I've already cleared everything, cache, history passwords etc., and even tried inputting new sites and tried loading them, same scenario, site loads but no images, format is different and links don't work. All other apps work, gmail, calendar etc.

I have loaded the Dolphin browser as my default browser and the google homepage is stuck in Spanish. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times and nothing changes. The only way to view it in english is to scroll down to the bottom of the google homepage and press "Google.com in in English". Once I close the browser and come back its back in Spanish. Any ideas or suggestions?

A couple days ago I had a window pop-up on my SGS3 about WiFi access.
There were 3 web sites listed, but the one that struck me was the one about Android Central.
I don't have a clue how I got the window to open, or even why it did, but the entry for AC said WiFi access to this site was blocked.
Sure enough, I cannot access AC through Forum Runner, but I can get here with Tapatalk 2.I also cannot access it with a browser. Either Chrome or the stock one.

I have a QMobile Noir A2 with custom ROM D-XPERIA HD installed. Android version 2.3.7
I have been facing a problem from quite a while now that I cannot access Facebook or Google through any browser except Opera Mini.
It always gives me an error that could not locate remote server and/or check your network connection.I'm using wifi and Facebook and Google works just fine on my PC on same network. Even the Facebook Android app works properly and all other applications also work perfectly on the Internet. So this is not a problem with my network connection.
Only browsers do not load these pages, I have tried the stock browser, Dolphin, one browser, opera classic previously called opera mobile and other browsers too. A few months ago they were working but now not.I did not try Firefox or Opera Beta Browser because the are too heavy for my phone.
Opera Mini works, obviously because it does all loading and processing in its servers.I think that there maybe a certificate or authentication problem in my phone which is causing this.

YES, it's programming question - i'd like to change it by code, not by manual clicking.
What about doing it for rooted device?

information on direct access to GEARS geolocation functions from an Android application. To date, I have not found any. geolocation includes three Android-specific public Java classes, AndroidGpsLocationProvider, AndroidRadioLocationProvider, and AndroidWifiLocationProvider. The fact that they are Android-specific and that they are public lead me to conclude that I should be able to use these classes in my application. However, not surprisingly, when I try to access these classes, my application fails (see log below) because, among other things, I have no way to correctly identify nativeObject in the java classes. At the very least, I would like to understand the purpose of the three Android-specific public Java classes, and how we should use them.

I have been using the default browser on a droid X to access a website on my web-server for weeks but 3 days ago the website became unavailable (showing the "Web page not available" message). Every other domain on the internet seems to work just fine. I then found out that other websites hosted on my server could not load on the droid. I checked the Apache log files and determined that no inbound http connects were being received on my server.
So it seems like a connection was not being established between my droid X and my server using the default browser at all. Then I downloaded a Ping (icmp) app off the market and pinged my server IP and bang, a response. Then I pinged the domain name and received a quick response, meaning that both a connection was possible and that DNS was resolving correctly.
Remembering that Opera browsers use compression and route requests through their servers I thought this could bypass any gateway or proxy Verizon might have in place. The website loaded quickly and completely on the Opera Mini browser. I called Verizon technical support and got through (a bunch of ads) to a nice agent who could not identify any problems on his terminal. He helpfully navigated to my website on his droid X and it worked perfectly. I think he said that he was on the east coast so at least its working there. But there was nothing else he could do so...............
