General :: SGS3 - LCD Density Modder Pro?
Oct 20, 2012
I always used LCD Density Modder Pro for the Play Store Fix for my SGS3, but now i noticed, that it's a very outdated version of the Store and i even can't buy anything, because it always says: Packagefile is invalid.
Is there any alternative modded Playstore around for a Density of 320?

I rooted my Galaxy Pocket lately and installed LCD modder just to try changing the dpi settings. i changed the stock 120 dpi to 160 and clicked save. the phone froze and i had to pull of the battery. after i restart all i get is a boot loop. i get 3 things
(1) s5300 logo
(2) animated samsung logo
(3) flashing samsung logo which appears just before the lock screen appears
( 1 and 2 vibrations during this) and then it loops all over again. as i understand the change i dpi is not supported for my device and it is not loading into the home screen. the solution seems to be editing the build.prop file to reassign the stock dpi value. but to access the file i have to get into adb mode and have the device available in the list. but since debugging mode was not selected before i essentially soft bricked my phone i am not able to access my device in adb mode. i am able to get into recovery mode tho.any way to edit the build.prop file from this situation??.....

I read the official document about supporting multiple screens http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html
According to that document, I should just create different directories for different resolultion.
Now the question. How to support devices with normal screen and high density or low density?
I ask it because, there are two posibilities (WVGA800 (480x800) and WVGA854 (480x854)) and (WQVGA400 (240x400) and WQVGA432 (240x432)) and I don't know where to store some background images for them.
I would take drawable-normal-hdpi or drawable-normal-ldpi, but how to make difference between 480x800 and 480x854 or between 240x400 and 240x432?!

Should I just do a backup, and install CM 10.1 OTA through my phone, then install GApps, and then install things I like (Such as Custom Kernel and JustUnBean Themed Gapps) as I normally do when updating my ROM?
Or should some extra steps/wipes/etc be taken when going from CM 10 to CM 10.1?

I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 and I've been trying for weeks to connect it to a PS3 controller. I got a usb to mini usb converter, downloaded the Sixaxis Controller app and rooted my phone, but after connecting to the controller and turning it on it just flashes while the app says "listening for controllers..." so I assumed I must have got a faulty converter ordered a new one, same results. Then I ordered gameklip after reading that it could connect with your controller just by plugging in a mini to micro cable and after it arrived I'm getting the same problem. The phone just doesn't seem to recognize that there's anything plugged into it. I've tried two different PS3 controllers. I've tried resetting them using a paperclip and the button on the back. I've tried resetting the phone multiple times. I've honestly tried everything I can think of. It just doesn't seem to work.
Everybody I can find on the internet seems to have no problem with either a wired or wireless method, but I can't seem to figure it out. I don't know if there's just something simple I'm missing or if there's some compatibility problem I don't know about, but I've spent over $50 trying to get this thing to work so I'd like to see that pay off.
I have a SPH-L710 on 4.1.1.

I can't seem to be able to send texts through the default messaging app. Calls and data works. Restarting my phone seems to temporarily fix my issue. I have full network bars and have tried switching carriers. I'm also on Android 4.3 on Samsung Galaxy S3.
The weird thing is that I can send texts through Google Hangouts app, but not the android messaging app.

I have been running my own custom rom for weeks. Battery has not been an issue in the past. Today, bettery was draining a lot and I looked at gsam and it showed kernel using 89%. The only thing I have changed recently is I updated busybox - smart install in order to get a script working. I have two init.d scripts which may have something to do with it. I have attached the scripts, as well as Included processes for kernel.
Device Info:
Verizon SGS3
Rom: Mean Lean JellyBean Machine
Firmware base: I535VRBLK3 (4.1.1)
Kernel: Stock VRBLK3 (although rooted/unsecured)
Only mods to the rom are that I updated busybox to get script2 working.
Included Processes:
HTML Code:
busybox
vold
migration/1
file-storage
pgrep
[Code]...

I'm new to smartphones in general because I refused to buy one, they're destroying the world we live in, and now I can't focus on a simple face-to-face conversation without getting distracted by this silly device. But what's done is done. Recently a job opportunity left me no choice. I've been selling iPhones and Droid RAZRs by the truckload on eBay. I was an iPhreak until about christmas when I obtained a few Galaxy S3s to refurbish and sell, and after unlocking one of these i535s to work on Cricket for my girlfriend, I attempted a similar method to get one functioning on AT&T. Using DFS CDMA tool, I've gained the ability to send and receive SMS, as well as receive calls using my AT&T SIM card, but when I attempt to call out (any number), com.android.phone FCs and I'm returned to the home screen. I don't need mobile data, or MMS. I'd just like my phone to function as a phone, not simply a "hand computer".
My question: How can I make outgoing calls with AT&T on a VZW SGS3?
Rooted with an unlocked bootloader. Willing to flash, but insist on remaining rooted. ICS 4.0.4, I535VRLF2.

My main problem with Cyanogenmod is that the default Touchwiz camera app is the best free camera app I have seen, and even more so for the video camera.
I tried taking the Camera .apk file, but I just get a message saying "application not installed" when I try to install it, and "there was a problem parsing the package" if I try to install it from /root.
Yes unknown whatever installs are allowed. And I've tried a hundred and seven different installer/file manager apps, but they all direct me to the same default installer.
Other apps I'd want to take are the calculator and video player.

I have a SGS3 that I have rooted and running CM10...
stock I had 'S Beam' which was awesome. because my gf has sgs3 as well, and i was able to send her videos directly from my phone..
but now that I'm running CM10 and jellybean, I lost this feature on my end
I looked at the app store with keyword 'wifi direct' and came up empty handed.

I have done a battery pull, as well as restarted, and rechecked the boxes for repeat sound notifications for my text messages. The repeat sound is set at every 2 minutes. I do receive the original sound notification, but, I never get the subsequent notices. Verizon is at a loss...gee imagine that...But, at the same time, the Haptic (vibrating touch) randomly unchecks it's box and I lose that function about every 2-3 days also.

Any way to recover deleted files from the Samsung Galaxy S3 internal SD card without rooting the phone. I dont need to recover anything from the DATA partition, just the internal disk partition.
Ive tried several software and Windows and Ubuntu see my phone as a MTP device, but somehow the software doesnt detect it, even when i put it in USB debugging mode or connect it as a PTP device.

I must have changed a setting somewhere. I used to be able to connect my SGS3 to my computer and see the files of both my internal and external SD cards. For some reason now all I can see is my external SD card. I am running a CyanogenMod 10 ROM. I have USB storage activated.

My device details: SGS3 T999, rooted, running Jellybean 4.3 on a liquid smooth ROM. Its a year old and has been a solid performer up until now.
My device is stuck in a cycle where it gives a quick vibrate, then SGS3 splash screen with white letters, then black screen, then tiny blue "Recovery booting..." words in upper left of screen, then black screen with couple vibrations, and around and around it goes in the same repeating cycle.
Just before it started I had taken the following actions: Dumped the following 2 files onto my EXTSD card (cm-11-20131217-NIGHTLY-d2tmo.zip, gapps-kk-20131119.zip) from my PC, booted phone into recovery mode using TWRP, did a factory reset wipe (success), cache wipe (success), dalvik cache wipe (success), flashed the NIGHTLY file (failed), flashed the gapps file (failed). At this point I should have sought some support. Fool! I next did a reboot step still in recovery mode. Without the reboot happening a message came up stating Superuser permission had been broken (the best I can remember) and the option to have TWRP repair the permission. I opted "yes" to repair. Then the loop started that I can't escape.
I have pulled the battery multiple times, tried a regular boot up, tried a recovery boot up (up volume+power+home) dropping the home button after a few seconds. Nothing is working. Prior to the above steps I backed up everything on the device. So I have backups to use if it can be done. My best guess is that I failed to update my CyanogenMod or TWRP to the very latest versions and it caused this hang up.

I have a problem with my sgy s5360 (rooted). i recently changed my lcd density in error and instead of the 120 default setting, I changed it to 288. that was really frustrating. I haven't been able to fix it myself. I have already done the factory reset but that didn't work. I used the ROM toolbox. Now my sgy is like in a zoomed state. Large fonts, cannot unlock and change to default setting. I cannot click the android icon that can be seen when you reboot your phone and did the factory reset. assistance is badly needed. i have browsed through the theads, but this issue has not been addressed.

I made a home screen just with Zooper and Tasker. Yesterday I changed the density to get everything smaller. Afterwards I changed the density back to original for my Launcher and for Zooper (With AppSettings).
Original Density: 320
Changed to: 270
Now I have the Problem that I can't click many of the created Widgets. I have multiple Text Elemts and Icons which dosnt react when i click them.
Now I tested a bit and found out that if the Text/Icons are much bigger I can click them (i.e. Textsize 40).
So i think i have to change the density for something else, but what? GT-N7100

I'm running cm6 and the Galaxy S Theme. I would like to run my density at 160 because I really love how tiny the icons look on my screen. However, when I run the density to that setting my notification menu bar no longer stretches across the top of the screen, it appears as a small square in the left hand corner. I also have the same problem in the market place, where the grey background should stretch across behind where it says "market". My friend runs his at 160 and has no problems like this, however he is not running cm6 or the theme I am. So, while it doesn't really narrow it down any, I'm sure the problem is in one of the two, more likely the theme in my mind. Any idea's how I can fix or repair this problem?

Has everyone seen that you can change the LCD density on the Desire? (Well, on all Android handsets really). It simulates a higher resolution, fits more text on screen etc. There's an app on the market which does it, although it won't work on the Desire unless you're S-OFF. All you need to do is extract the build.prop file from /system to your PC (in recovery, use ADB PULL), and using a text editor change the value of LCD Density from original 240 to 200, then ADB push it back and reboot. I'm *really* pleased with the result. Combined with Launcher Pro I've a whole new feel to my phone...

Running Incredible with Froyo. I rooted using Unrevoked3, but I forgot to make the nandroid backup, I guess. the LCD Changer app has my reboot looping. After the very first HTC Incredible screen it goes totally white and I just hear the "Droid" voice(plays when the red droid eye comes up on screen normally" nothing but white and the voice just repeats after the screen flashes every minute or so. Tried applying the update.zip that was linked to on the developers blog, but no luck. Any ideas? I even tried resetting to factory defaults, formatted everything, basically. Lost a great of data, I'm afraid, but I just want my phone back.

I don't know if anyone else is as addicted to a 200 LCD density as me but the LCD density changer app was causing FC like crazy. So I thought there had to be another way. It's real easy, and takes 5seconds to do...
1: open root explorer and go to /system
2: open the build prop and locate the line about half way down that says 'LCD density = 240.
3: change the value to 200 and save (it will automatically create a backup in case of a Rom issue)
4: reboot
I'm sure you can copy the build.prop file to your computer and edit and reinsert the file or use astro + god mode script on some Rom. Just be sure to make a backup as root explorer is the only one I know of that makes a backup automatically. You will notice the clock is smaller as well as a host of other great changes. I'm addicted to a smaller size but there are a few issues I've found.
