View 9 Replies View RelatedPhone activated this morning and it's fantastic! My only issue is quite a few numbers do not ring when I call them; I just get a busy signal and cannot progress beyond that. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll see if it resolves. Very troublesome.

I found the option to change my outgoing text message under my settings, but now I just need to know how to use the feature. I tried it a few different ways with my son calling me while I was on another call, but I ended up dumping him into voicemail instead of sending the text message.
I have an old unused phone running Android 2.1, I think it's a Samsung GT-I5600 or something very similar. My three year old daughter have all the computers and tablets she could ever want, so I would like this one to be a very simple telephone that she could use to make calls to preset numbers and nothing else. I would like a screen lock that's easy to unlock and then just two big pictures or buttons. One for me and one for her mum. That button should make a call, and nothing else. Perhaps there could be a hidden preference whenever the call should be made thru the speaker or not.

Running Android 4.0.4 on Emerson EM543 Tablet. Could not install Google Play so had to install Android Market. Market apparently somehow disables the Android system LockScreen. So, now trying to get lockscreen back on boot (downloadable apps, as far as I can see, don't lock screen at system boot, which is what I want). I got a terminal emulator and was wondering if there was a Linux command line argument I could use to start Droid lockscreen at system startup.
I thought I was getting close with this solution, [URL] ....., but it is for an HTC Amaze 4G, and I can locate the AdroidManifest.xml files in the apk files on my system (using ROM Toolbox Pro Root Browser). But, even if I could figure out how to do it there, that file would be changed in the very next update. I am looking for a something similar, just need to know the xml filename or a command line argument that could be used in a startup script.
Every time I let my SIIX batt die the phone states "downloading packages" and "entering store mode". A picture of an android shows up, the only way for me to get my phone to work again is by doing the following:
-Plug the phone in and let it charge a bit
-Unplug the phone from the charger and take the batt out
-Put the batt back in making sure it stays unplugged from charger otherwise it goes back into store mode
Only then will my phone go back to normal and charge....
(HTC Desire running 2.2) Sometimes the init process enters a busy loop, consuming all CPU time. This has happened to me three or four times now. When it happens, Android System Info shows 100% CPU usage and if you run top in a terminal emulator, you can see that it's the init process eating up the CPU.
This makes the phone real slow and the only cure I know of is a reboot.I was going to check out the logs while the init was looping, but I forgot. I don't know how to repeat this - today it happened when I exitted VLC Stream and Convert, but it happened before I even installed this application.
I think this happened before the 2.2 upgrade as well and my son said his Xperia X10 eats the battery real fast sometimes - so maybe the same problem exists in Android 1.6 already.
I am looking for a lockscreen replacement that most importantly gives the option to answer calls without using the slidey swipey thingy. Maybe just a answer call button. I have tried goto - that was cool, but still had the swipe to answer. Also i tried screen suite, but that thing didn't replace the home lock screen for some reason. Can you sugget any others you might be using or know of?
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy phone is Jiayu G3S, with a MTK6589 cpu and android version 4.2.1 I use latest xposed installer and latest gravitybox.
My problem is that something is keeping my cpu busy in the background, preventing it from sleeping.
For example, i left it last night, and i opened it after 12 hours, it was awake and using cpu for about 90 minutes.
My normal consumption is 0.3% every hour, but now it is 3%, like 10 times more. Also noticed greater consumption when screen is on. As you can see, there is no strange wakellock that lasts that long and all my apps have settings not to auto-update. I tried reading my logs but i didnt find any info.
After I applied the Voodoo Lag Fix on Cognation V2.7 captivate, it kept entering recovery mode. Each time I choose reboot system now in the recovery mode, it will enter the recovery mode again. Anyone can tell me what happened to my captivate? Is there any way to fix it?

I flashed the newest version Paranoid Android and now I am seeking for a lockscreen layout that can replace the iOS lockscreen notifications I got really used to.
Dashclock combined with Dash Notifier seems like a good alternative but I now have some strange lockscreen behaviour of which I don't know if it's normal or because of some settings I missed.
Every time I expand / shrink for security code input I see a semi transparent white rectangle (as seen in the pictures attached).
Is this normal? If not is there any setting I missed, if yes, is there any possibility to avoid this? I don't use any lockscreen replacement at the moment...

I have been using Samsung Galaxy Note 1 for some time now, but couple of weeks ago my connections starts dropping and i would just take the SIM out and put it back and it would start working again.
What is is that when i enter *#06# it doesn't show any IMEI number. I have tried to restore my phone and install new software didn't work.
Some of the mobile shops said they need to buy a new IMEI number, some said they need to open it and see and some said "Basement" has gone bad. Not sure what that is though. May be he meant Baseband...

I can't enter download or recovery mode. The phone starts on itself without pressing the power button.
I'm trying out encryption, and have just encrypted the external SD card for now.My goal is to encrypt both the external and internal cards.
But to my surprise, I've noticed that the external card is accessible (I can read its contents) from recovery (CWM) without having to type any password...
Doesn't seem to be covered in the books Ive looked at.

Well after rooting with easy root I noticed it gives you some apps to check out now that your rooted...busy box being one of them...so I did it not knowing what it was.
Now I've realized I have no need for it but I know it installed itself into my bin and some other places I think...just wanting to know what is the proper way to get rid of all things busy box after running install?

Basically I have a couple of older gen phones which are pretty crap for anything but media purposes, I use them whilst training or at an OP in Afghan. I just throw my headphones on if im running, as if I drop them.. I dont mind much.
Id like it if I could whack my sim in one, but remove the call function for OPSEC purposes. Still remain useful for SMS and Data(internet) usage whilst im away or even home. I've done this with certain devices (Wildfire, this was only used for Beats and Net, I removed the SMS and call function)
I've recently upgraded from my Blackberry curve to the Desire. One feature I liked on my Blackberry was the option to add your email address and alternative phone number to the lockscreen so that if you do lose the phone, there's a chance a decent human might contact you and arrange to return it. Attempting to deodex, followed the instructions exactly on this thread ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.) but on my last step when entering "mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system" I get the following response from cmd prompt, "mount: Device or resource busy"
The OP said I should try placing the phone in Windows Sync mode or whatever it's called, as opposed to USB Mass Storage, just tried that and again, same message.
If no ideas how to fix this, does anyone at least know what to do so that when I reboot I won't have to do a Nandroid restore? It's getting really annoying going on the 3rd or 4th time.
