Dec 30, 2011New to Android. In the Google Maps app, do my favorite'd places, starred locations etc get synced to my google account? If not, is there a 3rd party app?

General :: App That Will Store GPS Location In My Places With Google Maps
Feb 19, 2012I've been looking for an app that I can quickly launch (widget is even better!), grab my current location using GPS and save it to an existing layer in my google maps account. If I can also a label to the point that would be ideal. After googling awhile I found "My Maps Editor" but it looks like it got the ax at some point.
As far as I know, you can view "My Places" from google maps in the mobile version using layers, but can't edit them. Even if you could edit it, it'd be a hassle to load up the layer each time when I just want to mark a spot on the map quickly.
I know you can star locations, but I've been using My Maps/Places for awhile so I'm a little locked in at this point.

Apr 22, 2010I absolutely see the value and even necessity of having your google account synced with this phone... and just wanted to know if google synced all your Google contacts with your phone? Personally I would rather it did not do this, for whatever reason. I know there are only a few Incredibles out there, but I thought the sync would be similar to the Droid or other Android phones people currently have.

Nov 3, 2010New EVO user here and had a syncing question.. I auto sync obviously and was wondering: where or how do I find my contacts and other synced info on my gmail account? Is there something I need to do to find all my synced info? One reason I ask is because it looks like I might have to replace my 3-week-old EVO with a new one due to a defect it looks like it may have, and I want to make sure I know how to back up everything then reinstall to the new EVO.

Mar 11, 2014I have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.

Oct 22, 2010Does anyone know where I can find the old version of the google places directory standalone app? I don't like the new one integrated with maps. I can't figure out how to set a location other than my current location when searching places. I guess if someone can tell me how to search for places NEAR an address or point on the map that I choose, it will be ok. I still don't like the interface as well as the old one though.

Apr 17, 2013I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!

Aug 1, 2010Sprint guy told me that when I added a Gmail account, that all my contacts would sync to that, etc. Problem - LOTS (ok - most) of the info I have on my phone for my contacts/People is NOT synced to my GMail contact info. My phone went funky the other day so I went to the laptop to grab a friends phone number and realized it wasn't there - only her email address. I haven noticed this with most everyone else, too.I have read (and was told at Sprint) that at some point I'll likely have to do a master re-set and with the update coming next week, I want to make SURE all my info is stored somewhere.

May 5, 2010So for the last 20 minutes or so I've been trying to figure out a little dilemma with my Incredible and my contacts list. I just realized that none of the data fields I enter into my HTC People app are getting synced with my Google Contacts. I'm a little bummed because I've spent some time trying to get my phone all set up with that.
I tried searching the Market for a dedicated Google Contacts app, but couldn't find anything. I love this phone, but I'm not exactly thrilled with all the HTC branded stuff going on. They've done some nice things, but I prefer gmail and most of the other Android stock features.
Anyone have any suggestions about how I can get my contacts synced with Google Contacts?

Oct 16, 2012My wife's phone - which is a ZTE Blade running 2.2 - is losing it's favorites in the contacts manager each time it syncs to Google Contacts.
I looked up her Google Contacts [URL] and there is no "Starred in Android" group, as it should be. I think it should be automatically created when she fovorites a contac in her phone. But instead, it deletes the starring of the contacts in the phone each time it syncs.

Aug 19, 2010Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

As there is such a high traffic on these groups, it takes time to find the threads I answered to or some I am interested to see how the problem is solved.
