How to root this phone? How to flash CWM recovery?
I'm new to flashing and installing ROM on android phones. I enabled root in this phone. I wanted to install JellyBean 4.2.2. After a long search on the internet and a lot of trying I decided to open a thread here. My phone is Star N800 MTK6575 with Android 4.0.4. When I tried to install ROM through recovery mode it showed me this: "Failed to verify whole-file signature"
I tried to install ClockWorkMode Recovery without success SP flash tool and Odin also disappointed me..
When I plug in my phone in the usb, when it's turn off and without the battery, I see it in the Device Manager appearing and then disconnecting. I tried to change the Power Settings but it didn't work.
i have an MTK6575 phone that seems to be unrootable.
the phone is a samsung galixy s3 clone from china it is made by the company ALPS and is using an s880 board with an MTK6575 chip running android version 4.3.0 version name such a ics or jb is unknown.
you can find a full detailed report on the phone here : my s3 close detailes
ok so far on this phone i have tried
- superoneclick
- oneclickroot
- MTKtools
- baidu.com root tool
- CWM Recovery
- Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry
notes to remember is that using superoneclick it dose say the phone is all ready rooted ! but i have installed super user and it has no effect and there are no root permissions on the phone.
wen using the recovery update.zip options i get the following error ( invalid OTA package ) this phone is using the stock 3E recovery.
I've bought a phone tha is a poor S4 clone. MTK Root and Tools recognized it like this:
Hardware : MT6575 (MT6517 is Fake!)
Model : GT-I9505

Android v : 4.1.1

LCD Driver IC : 1-ili9806_6575_dsi
The thing is: The UMTS (3g) network don't work. It only connects through Edge network.
-I've tried to restore IMEI - nothing happens...
-I've used the MobileUncle tools to see the bandmode, but it shows only the 2g network (the umts mode is grey, and I can't set it up...)
My first theory was that the firmware doesn't support the 3g network, but, since I couldn't find a best firmware, that theory was... stuck.
My second theory was that this SoC (MTK6575) doesn't have 3g access but after some research i saw a lot of people tha have the same SoC and connects to this network, so...
I think there's no custom rom for MTK65xxx series and i made a backup of my phone and started to make my own custom rom but how can I add swap support to the kernel?

After rooting with kingoapp in my gionee pioneer p1. I found this on system file ->advanced_meta_init.rc and opened as text and get some interesting infos which i dont really understand .. Is the phone supports tv out?
# change MTKFB permission for Settings App JNI functions to set TVOut related status
chmod 0666 /dev/graphics/fb0
#TV-out
chmod 0664 /dev/TV-out
I add photo attachment. I found this hidden settings by installing holo launcher and selecting activity.. Is there a way to enable it?..
I have a x26i mtk6575.
-rooted
-4.0.3 ICS

I wana keep this updated so others who have a mtk6575 can read this and install Cyanogen Mod.
I did a search on the site but unfortunately I have not been able to find it .... I could use the full rom to load on clone s3 I9320 with MTK6575 (N9300) .... the components disassembled looks identical to the model we are talking about here on the forum N9300 + MTK6577 ... but obviously this fits different processor that is MTK6575 fact I did a test with the rom of 'N9300 + but does not go .. because of course the file marked scatter of N9300 MTK6577 + ...... detects when loading as MTK6575 and does not go forward .... so I need the original full 's I9320 N9300 MTK6575 ...

Currently my Tablet behave strangely where when I switched it ON, it did run as per normal. But when I slide the unlock slider, the Tablet switch off.
I did a backup user data. Try entering recovery, wipe data/reset factory. Reboot the Tablet, it also did run as per normal. But when I slide the unlock slider, the Tablet switch off.
Then I try another approach. Try entering recovery, wipe data/reset factory. Connect the USB cable to computer. Reboot the Tablet, it also did run as per normal with no unlock slider where it did show a USB enable menu. Press back and it did run as normal. Then I disable the "slide the unlock slider" in setting. Everything work as per normal. Try restart and no problem.
Then I restore previous user data, unfortunately I cannot disable the unlock slider. Try Connect the USB cable to computer, the slider still there.
I'm looking for a way of disabling the unlock slider via ADB command.
Another way I can think of is sideload "Screen lock suppressor" apk into system.[URL]...
Now I forget how to push the apk into system. Or, any other apk to disable the unlock slider.

I want to know if for example sense6(htc one m8) rom can be ported to galaxy s3 i9300?
I've looked a bit for this but found that it is easy if they have same hardware, so in this case they don't.
I have recently tried running 4.2.1 on my i9300 (OMEGA ROM) and while I did manage to get it running ok I did find quite a few features appeared to be missing. Some were no big deal but what happened to the task killer (RAM management) shortcut that is accessed by holding the Home key down in previous versions?
I had a look and could see no other way to close apps/clear memory other than going into Settings/App Manager.....
Needless to say as this is a feature I use frequently I have since rolled back to 4.1.2 which i am very happy with.
FIFA 14 isn't working on my Galaxy S3/I9300.
I had an original android firmware, but i change it to Cyanogenmod 10.2, but it's eats my battery.(if i charged up full, i let in my pocket, no programs running, -10% of battery gone..) so I change that android to Slim Bean But when I trying to install fifa 14, it says: you not have enough space to install, delete some applications(or anything) to free up space. I have 4,5 GB on my Internal Storage and 6,9 GB on my SD card. I tried both of them to install..
Why FIFA do this? Every other game runs perfectly.(also Call of Duty: Strike Team....)
I've just got my new Samsung S3 device (GT-I9300) and i rooted it successfully using one of yours wonderful guides.
my current android OS is ICS 4.04 and i would like to update it to jelly bean.
I've heard that the most "clean" ROM belongs to Google and called "Vanilla" - is it right?
if so, where i can find jelly bean with that ROM? i've found jelly bean with "vanilla root box" ROM and i guess that is not the same as Google.
[B]I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 white (my brother) which I can't seem to update via Samsung Kies. I mean I have a Galaxy S3 red (mine) which I updated via kies and I don't know why I can't update this one. Anyways, the Galaxy which I'm trying to update is on Android 4.0.4 ICS When I connect the phone to the pc underneath where it says firmware information it's written: PDA:LE4 / PHONE:LE4 / CSC:LE4 (ORA) but yet no update button. I'm trying to update the phone to the latest version *i've reinstalled kies several times! How to resolve this or even better how to update the S3?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) was rebooting itself for the past few days, randomly. Last night, it did it again, but didn't boot back up. Instead, it is now stuck on an infinite boot loop - it gets as far as the splash screen (Galaxy SIII logo), then reboots, on a loop.
I've never tried to flash or root the device, I only used the official OTA updates from Samsung.
The first thing I tried was to remove the battery, SIM card and MicroSD card for 5 minutes. I then wiped the Cache Partition through the Android Recovery Mode. I then flashed using the Samsung Kies recovery procedure. This didn't work. I then tried a Factory Reset through the Android Recovery Mode, multiple times. This also didn't work. The last thing I tried was to flash the ROM using Odin3. I used the firmware version appropriate for my region and carrier. Everything was successful, but I'm still having the same problem.
I tried to view the boot logs with adb, but of course, the phone won't stay on for long enough to establish a USB connection. I'm not sure what else to try.
I can't create a backup using cwm. I get an Error while backing up image data!
I'm running stock but rooted
I want to run a custom ROM but really think I should do a nandroid first!??

View 3 Replies View Relatedplanning on flashing my Galaxy S3 i9300 with CleanROM, just to try it out. I have an unlocked bootloader, on ICS firmware (stock), and TWRP as my recovery tool. When I try to install it, all goes well until I reach 10% of the installation, where everything just freezes and then boots me back to TWRP. When I reboot, I'm still on my ICS firmware, like nothing has happened. ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore I entered the world of custom ROMs, my i9300's battery was fine. However, when I flashed my first custom rom months ago (CM10.1 nightly), my battery would drain from 100% to 0% in around four or five hours. This was only on light to moderate use, with a bit of Web browsing and Kindle. GPS and mobile data are almost always both off, other than when I need them, and brightness is set at the lowest possible 90% of the time. I checked my battery usage in the settings and there was no evidence of the renowned mediaserver cause of battery drainage, so I'm not really sure what the cause is.
Also, a few days ago my phone began reaching extreme temperatures when I executed any operation on my phone. At the moment I am typing in xda only and my battery is at 111 degrees. I noticed that it began with a certain nightly of Carbonrom and Temasek kernel.
I have done numerous factory resets and flashed different ROMs and even gone back to stock and fully unrooted, but the problem persists.
Samsung's Voice Recorder app records in this file format, but I can't use this file format in the Samsung Video Maker!
