i am making a rom so i want that after flashing my rom i get apps and widgets on my homescreen as i want... i want to preconfig settings as i want so that those apps and widgets are there already....

I have Star S7589 and have installed the following rom (www.needrom.com/mobile/star-s7589-galaxy3/). However while the rom is awesome it seems that the menu is missing a key feature the ability to swtich the 3g sim vs 2g sim. Which is a key feature for any of these dual sim china mobiles.
I have tried everything in my power, changing the settings apk. Uncompiling and modifying the settings xml (I'm no dev/expert and working with limited knowledge) but to no avail.

Ok that means i dont care about the language my apps will be displayed in as long as it is english "which should be in every rom.."
But i do care about the region they are set in... means when i start MIUI News/Weather (geniewidget.apk) I want to see News from Germany and temperature in Celsius..
When I play "who-becomes-rich" I want Euro for currency! and so on ...
Is there any way to set the region like that ? (build.prop or anything else..?)

I just went through the process of compiling a custom ROM and they used a stock kernel. I would like to incorporate a different kernel when I compile and instead of the stock. I know I could compile them separately and have them flash together but I want one zip to flash. Just would like to go through the process to learn.

I know ime developer can create his own setting activity which will be displayed in Settings apk. I wonder whether there is a common way to interate any settings activity into Settings apk.

I have tried different contexts, inbox, recycle bin, unread email, read email, but cannot find this setting, in fact according to the Google support page I am missing a whole range of settings.
As the title states, is there anyway to set DNS settings in 4.3 platform-wide?
I used to use Set DNS to do this but it seems that Set DNS is incompatible with 4.3. I notice there is a way to set DNS settings on WiFi but I need it for 3G/LTE.
So I've noticed that some of my app settings (i.e. log-ins and such) don't "save" as of late. For example it started with Twitter where I had to always keep checking the notification boxes. Now it's gone even further...
I started using Evernote and every few hours, the app "kicks me out" and I have to log back in. I use Chomp SMS and it's not saving any of the customizations i set within the app. Google+ won't stay logged in either. Is it an Android thing? Do I have some sort of Memory leak? Should I wipe the phone and start over?
I thought it was due to the taks killer app, so I deleted that and rebooted.... then it still happened so I thought Juice Defender was killing the apps so I disabled it.... AND THE APPS ARE STILL DOING IT!!!

deleting the dns server from the menu provides an error(type a valid IP)

Just wondering, since they aren't correct for the networks I use. For example, Telenor MMS port is 9023 (or something like that) but the correct setting is port 8080 ...
HTC gets them right, but all custom ROMs I have tried (a lot) have the same none working settings. Flashing a new ROM and booting with no sim card gives the same result, so it looks to me like an android fault?
How to add CM settings to the app drawer or settings app?
I'm currently developing LeWaOS rom for the htc wildfire. It's based on stable CM7.2
The CMsettings apk is included in the rom, i can go through the CMsettings by making shortcuts on the homescreen for it. BUT can I include it as an individual app in the app drawer so it becomes easier to access ??
If not then is it possible to add it to the settings apk ?
What are the best general settings to use on the camera?I always use manual focus where you have to touch the screen to focus where you want the lense to focus on, everything else is stock I think.Be interested to see your settings if you think you have it perfect or at-least as good as you can get with the camera

I am Cooking ROM based on 4.0.4... There is Data and Time in Settings... it is set by Default to 12 Hour Fomrat. You have to check the 24 Hr Time Format to enable it.
My Problem is that there is a bug in my ROM with status bar which isnt accepting 12 hr Time. Status bar Force Closes non Stop until I go to Settings>Date & Time and change it to 24 Hr format.
Being ROM Cooker I dont want my users to see the first screen to appear as "SystemUI has Closed" after Flashing Fresh ROM...
The only solution I have to prevent is to set the time to 24 Hr by default. i.e enable Check ON like some other options in Settings which are checked by default..
I saw everyhere in Settings.apk but there is no place I could change it..
in res/xml I saw a file date_time_prefs.xml.. it has code below

I added the last line android:defaultValue="true" to set it to default checked but still after a fresh install it isnt checked..
How and where I can set it to default checked?
