Is there any way to prevent the default SMS/MMS and Phone apps in ICS from displaying contact pictures? I can't find such setting anywhere. Maybe there are some sort of edited .apks with contact pictures disabled?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having Facebook for Android on my phone which automatically syncs the FB profile pictures of the people in my contact list to my phone. I'd like to use those pictures within my app where I access Contacts Contract. Phone Lookup. Do I really need the Facebook SDK to do that? I guess not, but I cannot find any evidence of the pictures being saved somewhere around Contacts Contract.

I figured out how to get the picture from the phone to be the one used for the contacts, but three of them keep reverting to the facebook pictures and I can't figure out why.

I've just got my Wildfire and I'm pretty much satisfied, there's one thing that bothers me though. When I press the "phone" button, the list of contacts appears with a keypad. Everything's fine except for the fact, that I have all my contacts doubled - it displays those from the phone memory as well as those from the sim card. Now - this does not apply to the regular "people" list. in its menu, you can tap "view" and select the items you want to see. so I unchecked "Sim" and "Google" contacts and all I have is a neat list of phone contacts. I cannot find any such option for the phone list. Yes, I could use the "contacts" list to find people but there's another problem - it does not offer this awesome filtering by keypad that is present in the "phone" list. I can only open the keypad and type exact parts of people's names using either standard input or t9. what happens in the "phone" list, is that it seeks for contacts already on basis of the keypad button you've pressed. for example, in order to type Tom using normal input, you have to press 8 6 6 6 6. In the 'phone' list you only have to press 8 and 6. all in all, the best thing would be to have both worlds combined. but the easiest way to solve my problem would be simply to disable SIM contacts from the regular phone list. Otherwise I'll have to delete them from my simcard, which is not the best solution.

Also, is there a way to remove them from the stock SMS? There were no contact photos in my text messages until I updated to 4.3. Stock ROM and not rooted.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Facebook application (not Facebook for HTC Sense - I want to avoid using this one) and the way it syncs peoples' pictures in the contact list. The problem is that some of the pictures are missing. I know for sure these persons have profile pictures set, but for some reason my Facebook app doesn't sync them. I double checked the "Link" menu, it shows that the phone book entry is indeed linked with a facebook account. The picture dropdown list also shows an empty person outline next to "Facebook".
I'm using Virtuous Affinity ROM 2.05 on HTC T-Mobile G2.
Is it possible to deactivate the contact pictures of the Friendlist? I dont wanna see the pictures of my friends. With Whatsapp plus you only have the function to make them smaller but not to deactivate them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not technically inclined to develop a xposed module, but was using the 8sms app. I loved it since it mixes stock sms with cyanogenmod, but doesn't display FB contact pictures , only googles or contacts on your phone who you've added a picture for. Is there any way a xposed module could be developed to enable 8sms to pull contact pictures from fb? Not necessarily a request as far as throwing it out there and gauging community feedback (although, yeah, this would free many of us from samsungs sms app and make 8sms more appealing). What do you think? Is this possible to do?
I should probably add I'm on android 4.2.2, stock Galaxy s4 for t-mobile and rooted. And yes, I'd flash cyanogenmod but I do need t-mobiles wifi calling do to zero coverage at home.
Ok, I'm surprised I am having to post this. Mainly due to I am not computer illiterate. However, I'm having difficulty transferring pics from my pc to my Droid X. It either will not show up on the phone when I copy them onto the phone or it crashes my pc. How do you get pics onto the droid? Any good apps for assisting with this? As well as any good apps for viewing and managing pics and albums on the phone?

I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I always have the apps that came with the phone wanting to be updated. I don't use them since I consider many of them to be a waste of space on my phone and would rather get rid of them, but would at least like to stop the updating for them.
I am looking at a good way to hide apps from the list. I want the apps to be able to run (like Email) and do the sync, but not to display the icons in the list. I have seen that ICS comes with a "Disable" function for system apps, but it doesn't work for me because it also prevents the app from running.
I also want a way to launch the apps myself (through a hidden menu or command) at will.
I have tried things like Application Protection, which allows you to password protect the apps you want. However, since the icons are still there, it is still tempting for my kind to click and ask for the password.
It used to be the market would separate apps that were approved for auto update from those that had disabled auto update set. One could then simply hit the Update All (for the group) button and it would update ONLY the apps that were auto update enabled. Over the past few months Play Store has changed their behavior in that it no longer separates the apps and will only enable auto updates for everything or nothing.
How can I hide or otherwise prevent these few apps that I do not want to update from being in the play store update list? As it is now, I have to selectively update each individual app from the list, skipping the few apps I do not want updated.

is there any app that can disable the background apps, like fb, sync, widgets, that would use internet once i enable the data connection on my android? i don't have an unlimited data package, which is why im concerned about the data charges.

If i click on the contact then click link it says i have no facebook friend to link to.
I have read a few threads, but they aren't saying the evo4g is having this problem. but mine is. i imported my contacts from my outlook and all the images are coming up blurry when i receive calls and make them. also, a lot of the images on my contacts aren't even showing up on the phone, but i see them in the outlook actually it looks like the Vermeer images i was using when i had my iphone aren't loading, but regular images are. anyways, for the regular images from the outlook sync to the phone, is there a way to get them clearer?

If this is already covered - I couldn't find it, so please point me in the right direction.
I have my G1 sync'ing with my gmail for contacts (obviously), and a large number of my gmail contacts have pictures associated with them.
This all works fine for a while, and then... consistently... after a few days... the pictures on my contacts get messed up. They kinda swap around, and some of them seem to use random pictures which have been linked to contacts in the past, or perhaps even not at all.
I do not know whether this is getting messed up on my G1, and replicated to gmail, or the other way around, but I can't stop it happening and its massively annoying.
Any other information can be provided, but if anyone else has this problem or knows how I might fix it, it would probably save my sanity greatly.
I have painstakingly updated most of my Google contacts with pictures, and set them as the default pictures for all of my contacts in my phone.However, every two days or so they revert back to the contacts Facebook picture.I have the HTC Evo 4G.How do I keep it from doing this?

I'm loving my phone, and I love how it pulls photos and contacts from Facebook, Gmail, etc.However, A lot of my friends are already changing their pictures, and the phone isn't updating them on my favorites, or in my actual phonebook/contact list. I know how to manually set the picture, but I want it to re-pull new photos from Facebook. Any ideas?

They are still associated with their Facebook accounts, but they just don't have pictures. All phone numbers and things are still there. I also get a proces.google.gapps force close sometimes. What exactly happened, and how can I fix it?

I'm using high resolution pictures from my computer, but they're still showing up fuzzy on calls. The weird thing about the people widget is that a few of the pictures will show up clear, but the rest look horrible. Someone told me the issue was that Google compresses the pictures when they're synced with the contacts down to around 96x96, if that's the case, does anyone know if that can be changed? (I'm assuming not)

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I add a photo to a contact, then put the contact in the Favorites widget, the picture blurs/pixelizes/generally looks like crap.
I was syncing the pictures with the ones in my Gmail contacts, but I then came across this thread in the Incredible forum. However, the solution given there (manually loading the pictures on the SD card and then choosing them from the Gallery) will only work for a short time. Within a few hours, the picture in the Favorites widget goes to hell again.
I thought it might have something to do with the Google sync, but I just did a manual sync, and it didn't affect the picture at all.
My only clue is that when I go into the profile page for a contact that's in the widget, the (smaller) picture in the upper left corner looks fine. But when I go into the edit page, the picture looks terrible, like it does in the widget, until I save again. Also, if while in edit mode, I choose the contact picture from the Gallery again, the picture resets in the Favorites widget. For a while.
Since it was happening with the Incredible, it appears to be a Sense or Android issue rather than an Evo-specific one. Is it too much to ask that my friends and family look as smooth and sharp as the perky models in the sample Favorites widget?
I have contact groups that I use in the desktop gmail client to send messages to distribution lists without any issues. Those groups get synced to my android contacts and I can see them in the groups tab. However, neither gmail nor any sms app that I have tried actually use these contact groups for anything.
Am I missing some setting for this to work or is this not implemented in android?
