I would like to port an app from a higher Android version to Galaxy Y. e.g.-Port the JB 4.2 Keyboard or The 4.2 Play Music app..But, how can I do it? I mean, is there any tutorial available or at-least something which would enable me get going? I've seen Devs porting such apps, but I want to know how do they do it..

How to port a stock rom from a higher device to a lower device with a locked bootloader so i want to try and port it with my devices stock kernel. The tutorials i have found are not detailed enough most of them are just copy & pasting files from one to the other and the rom does not boot.

For instance,if we have a game on a 1920x1080 screen,but the GPU struggles to keep the framerate,we lower it to 960x540,the game still looks fine,because we get 1:2 resolution,and far fewer pixels to push.I think there should be an app for that.
Why do some apps fail when sideloading them onto some lower end tablets? I back them up from my phone using astro and try to install it on a viewsonic G-tablet or a Nextbook tablet and the installation fails. They're perfectly good backups. How come it's not supported?

What I need is a tool that combines the functionality of an app manager like Easy Installer together with details of all currently-installed apps: In a single big list sorted by app name, I'd like to see the installed version (if any), plus every available .apk file and the version it contains. That would make it SO much easier to know if I need to update installed apps with a newer version, and to delete multiple .apk files of outdated versions.
I've seen lots of apps (including the Apps menu built into Android Settings) to view the installed apps and their version info -- and also lots of apps to scan the whole SD card for .apk files and display the actual app info (name, version, etc.) vs. just the filenames. What's missing is an easy way to compare all these.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about getting a tablet instead of a netbook (Eken M001 has 1.6) which i need for mostly working out my routes in the morning since I work for a delivery company. Right now I have to come home to use autoroute on my PC but this takes me an hour to get home and back again taking an hour out of my journey so a tablet would be a perfect alternative. I live in the UK so need an autorouter for me that works offline. Does any such app exist or should I get a netbook?
Basically I just need to enter a bunch of postcodes and it tell me the quickest order in which to goto them to save time in my day but going home to get them is kinda against the whole point of saving time.

I own a Nexus One and Dell Streak and one thing that I find disappointing is that some apps don't run at the native resolution on the Nexus which makes things look blurry compared to my Streak. Examples: (all screenshots taken with the Android SDK) Now, I understand that the PenTile display will have an effect on image quality Vs my Streak but why does the N1 seem to be rendering things in a lower resolution compared to my Streak?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Chinese clone of Galaxy S4 called No.1 S6 with MTK6589 Cpu and Android 4.2.1 (Odexed Rom), well, I tried to replace some system app like contacts, phone and mms with the same apps taken from the Slim bean 4.2.2 Rom for the Google Nexus 4 that has the same screen resolution.
I odexed the slim bean apks with dexopt-wrapper as explained here [URL] ...., I signed them with auto-sign software, so I put them into system/app folder with right permissions, deleting old apks first, rebooted the phone, wiped cache in recovery and when the phone booted the apk I replaced was gone, so I think there's a compatibility problem between my system apps and nexus 4 ported apps, maybe I have to take the slim bean (or other ROMS, whatever) sources and edit the apks and make them compatible with my phone...

Whenever I try to set minimum CPU frequencies higher than the default value, no matter what app I'm using or what kernel or Rom it just won't stick. Governors and maximum frequencies stick though.

Recently, I have noticed that my android phone keeps telling me I have insufficient storage. So, I start deleting most of my apps, except for Facebook, Viber, Whatsapp and the pre-installed apps. However, in my apps section, it shows I have used up 863MB whereas in the storage section, it says I have used up 213MB. Funny thing is, Facebook, Viber and Whatsapp are all installed in my SD card. I have to force stop my Facebook app and clear the cache files in order to use my phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received the micro HDMI and connected it to my system. I also connected a 1/8th" stereo to RCA cable because my surround sound isnt smart enough to decode the audio signal from the HDMI. I set the inputs and the first thing I see is that there is no picture. Rather, the picture is black (the no input warning goes away, and there is a black screen) and the only time I get any video is when I play a video or slideshow. But no audio as long as I am playing video.
Is there any way to output the audio through the headphone jack while the HDMI is outputting video? And is there a way to view the UI and apps through the HDMI port?
The part with red doesn't work on my phone anymore, i can't acces the apps in the app drawer because when I press there nothing happens, also home button, menu button and back button don't work anymore. Could it be the screen digitiser?
I disassembled and assembled it to check if a cable or something wasn't right, but everything seemed ok, but even after that it's still not working.
I did a factory reset and the dock buttons worked but the 3 menu, home and back buttons didnt work and later on the dock buttons didn't work again, should i flash a ROM again? Maybe it would work then, but I'm not sure if the home button is going to work in CWM Touch.
BTW, I went to developer settings and enabled show touches and that area which is affected can't be touched at all but sometimes if I bend the phone, it gets ghost touches and even the dock gets touch inputs.
I own a galaxy nexus and the performance of a few HD games are under my expectations, even with a bus overclocked kernel! (i've tried many, to no use )
Is there is a way to force selected apps to run at a lower screen resolution? say 540x960? i don't mind if it doesn't run in full screen, i just prefer a constant 60FPS over a few extra details!
Is there a simple cpu speed governor and scheduler settings tool which clocks to higher speeds when there is a phone call whilst stays on normal when there is no call?

I think I may try and order a cheap Mini USB Game Controller with a Micro USB Adapter and see if I can use it to play games through one of my Emulators. If anyone has already tried this please let me know. Being able to use this Micro USB to output video is also a question I have. If anyone has discovered anything cool with this Micro USB port feel free to share.
