I'm updating my phone Galaxy note i717 through kies air and my phone is on odin mode and the progess has been stuck at 63% for a while now and I was wondering if it may have bricked my phone.

My Galaxy Note SGH-i717 isn't getting recognized by all of my computers running either Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit or Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.This all started after my dog knocked off the phone with her Chuck Norris-like tail, and it sent the phone to download mode. After I got the phone off Download Mode, the phone sometimes doesn't charge, it keeps on thinking it's connected to a dock or a MHL device, and of course it won't get recognized by a computer. i planned on putting CyanogenMod on it, after I heard that the 4.2.2 rom went to a stabl status, Odin doesn't detect the phone is in Download Mode either.there is absolutely no thread for the SGH-i717.

I have SUPER SU, titanium backup, and ROM manager. I understand that all rooted phones must have a SU to grant apps access to the software. As for titanium backup, I have deleted bloatware and backed up and verified all of my information. I also bought the pro version of titanium backup. But for the Rom manager, I'm not too sure how to use that yet. I guess Titanium is for backing up and restoring, and ROM manager is for downloading the new rom?
So you have to download it from the computer, then move to your SD card. Afterwards, the computer part is done right? How do you get the phone in the mode to put in the new rom? And do you have to wipe the stock rom first?
I have a galaxy note i717 and it was unplugged while an automated unrooting program (kingo android root) was running. Now the phone is stuck at the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen, and Kies won't connect to the phone.
Is there anything I can do to get the phone working again?
I used to have a problem with the media scanner making duplicate song entries, only one would play and the other was invalid. For some reason that went away and now it adds media once and never scans again, so if I add songs later they never get picked up to be shown in the music player or winamp etc.
I found these tips:
go to application manager> all application and search
-media storage,
-music player,
-gallery application
and just delete cache and data and restart. It will solve the problem a it force to re build data base
This works still but it is a complete PITA because it resets wallpapers, ringtones and all sorts of other things to default and I don't want to have to do this every time I add a song. How do I fix the media scanner, does it even have logs or something I can look at?

Note 2 suddenly gets stuck when i am using it. the only option is to hold down the power key to restart or remove battery and start the phone again
View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't had any screen issues in the past, but today my tablet randomly decided to go totally black on me. I looked online and some posts mentioned to check if the screen was actually off, or just stuck at 0% brightness. So I got a flashlight and it turned out that I could see the screen in the light of the flashlight, very faintly. I tried to manually change the brightness setting, but that didn't do anything. I tried to go into 'power saver settings', but the 'screen brightness' power saver setting is stuck on and won't uncheck. Restarting doesn't fix it. Plugging it in to the computer or an outlet doesn't fix it.
I haven't downloaded any applications that override the screen brightness.
I'm using the Galaxy Note 10.1 (not the 2014 version).
Yesterday I received a Samsung Galaxy Note from China Mobile, model GT-I9228. It didn't have google play and so I looked online on how to get it. Apparently I had to root my phone. However, when I rooted it using this method: rootgalaxynote(dot)com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall/ (it said gt-n7000 on the box so I thought it was compatible) now it's stuck at the loadup screen with the yellow triangle. I tried to restore it to a stock gb rom, but it keeps failing. (The phone can go into download mode, I just don't know what to do from there)

My SGS was bought from Mobiles.co.uk and is using an Orange SIM and as far as I can tell it is not locked or branded.

Not sure if I'm a bit behind with this one, but my Kies just offered an update to version 1.51.10074_45. Took at least half an hour to download (on 50Mb broadband!).
View 10 Replies View RelatedHaving just purchased my first smart phone last week (Galaxy S) I am having a complete nightmare updating to FROYO with Kies.I know this has been done to death on this and various other forums but is there any possible way to upgrade the firmware without Kies as ive been trying for 3 nights now but absolutely nothing works to get my phone to connect to Kies.I have tried every tip and suggestion from this and other forums and all result in my phone telling me its connected but Kies on my PC just spinning away saying trying to connect.I can connect to my PC in Mass storage mode and transfer files no problem but Kies is just a complete nightmare.Over the short period of time ive had the phone I think its a fantastic piece of kit and am still learning about all that it can do but am getting seriously frustrated by not being able to do what should be a simple task!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI tried getting Kies to install the Froyo update on my Galaxy S (i live in the UK) using the registry hack that has been widely published. It didn't work and I ended up witha slightly newer version of 2.1 than I already had. Phone seemed to work fine, until I put my SIM card back in. It immediately restarted itself as soon as I tried to use 3G.
I went through all the settings, everything seemed to be the same as it was before the flash, but still it restarted everytime I connected to the 3G network.
Sooo, I decided to try and restore it to the previous firmware version again by changing the KIES regisrty values. Everything seemed to go well, phone downloaded the correct version, installed it fine etc and then KIES notified me that the firmware upgrade was succesful and the phone will now reboot.
Only it didnt.
It turned off and hasn't turned back on since
It doesn't get recognised when plugged into USB, it doesn't even show a charging logo when plugged into the mains. It does get VERY warm when I leave the battery in for 10 minutes or so though.
I've tried all the three button combos posted around, I've taken the battery out and in and out and in etc etc... nothing. It's a shiny 9mm thick brick now
Maybe quite a lot of SGSers are dying to know how the Froyo update progresses across the globe. I know about Sweden and Norway so far. Please let us know if the update appears in KIES in your country. It would be a nice extra if you'd publish your product code too.

I downloaded the update but my phone is not showing as connected in Kies mode. If I attach the phone in mass storage mode it is recognised!Having only just switched from iPhone to Android I cannot believe how shyte Samsung/T-Mobile have been with the software for such a great piece of hardware.I have tried rebooting laptop and phone as well as reinstalling Kies.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would have thought that a firmware update via Kies would preserve user data, contacts, apps I paid for from the market, phone settings etc. But after going from I9000DXJF4 to I9000DXJG4 using that appalling excuse for software (Kies) I have a completely empty device with just stock standard apps. No warnings to click through about wiping data, no strange error messages on the device. Is this normal? If so I might as well put my SIM card back in my iPhone until there is a consensus build of Froyo out for the Galaxy S as re-downloading and resyncing everything each time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am on Three UK, and I manually searched for an update for my Galaxy Note 3 today, while on my wireless network. My phone showed that a KitKat 4.4.2 update was available which was approx. 391 MB in size. Downloaded and installed it.
The install worked fine, but after the install, my phone seems to be draining the battery at 1% every minute. I have turned off GPS, wireless, mobile data etc. but to no avail.I don't even have Skype installed on my phone (as Google asked some users to uninstall Skype)
I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900 that currently has software 4.1.2. I've recently been trying to finally update to 4.3 and it seems my phone is stuck on an old update. It's 28.5MB and it'll show there's an update, I'll download it, it'll say it was successful. I'll then tell it to restart & install, what happens next is it looks like it just does a simply restart. It shuts off, shows the Samsung startup screen, and then I'm back to my homepage. Because of this, I can't update the phone any further. I tried going a Hard Reset (holding vol up, home, then power) and delete data/formating drive and that didn't fix it. I also tried going to the All Applications -> Google Services Framework -> Clear Cache -> Stop Service and what this does it brings up the same page for the 28.5MB download and it does the same thing it's always done.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my galaxy note 2 is continously bootlooping. As soon as I insert the battery into the phone, it shows the galaxy note 2 screen and a couple seconds later the same. I can't enter download mode because when I click the Volume+ button to enter it, it starts from the galaxy note 2 screen.
I had flashed cyanogen mod 11 to my phone a couple months back, but it was working fine. Today morning some water got on it, but I dried it of and it was working fine.
I am stuck in ODIN mode on my Note 3 and it says downloading... do not turn off target. I can boot with volume down and cancel but it just goers their again. Volume up goes to TWRP but i can't get my phone to just turn on normally. I was not attempting anything. This is how my phone turned on...

My Samsung note 3 Sm-N9006 was already rooted when I bought it, though it doesnt have CWM/TWRP and SuperSu. However, all rooted apps are working. So I really want to change the phone's font so I downloaded Font installer *root*, because no font style is available in the settings. However, after I installed a font from the app, it prompted me to reboot my system, I clicked it and when it boots, its already stuck on the samsung logo.
Whenever I use the button combination vol down + power + home, it just opens normally; when volume up + Volume down + power / Volume up + power + home / Volume up + power, this is what is shown,,,
Select boot mode:
[VOLUME_UP to select. VOLUME_DOWN is OK.]
[recovery mode]
[fastboot mode]
[normal mode]
volume up moves between these options, volume down doesn't do anything, nor power button neither home button
so i can't choose from them.
