General :: Galaxy S3 - How To Block Unwanted Emails

Nov 5, 2012

I just purchased a Galaxy S3 though Telus (Canada). I'm trying to figure out how to either: block emails or automatically delete emails at the phone level, NOT the server level.

My wife gets a lot of emails that I'm not interested in, I still want these messages to come through to her phone or
on the home computer, I just don't want them clogging my phone.Any apps I've seen can block either phone calls or sms texts, but not emails.

Android :: App To Block Unwanted Callers AND Unwanted SMS

Apr 4, 2010

New to Android. I always used a app called Magicall on my WM device. I want to be able to block specific contacts, unknown number or anonymous numbers and also specific contacts for SMS. I can see I have the option to send a contact direct to voicemail but don't have the same facility for unknown/anonymous callers and nothing to block SMS. Any recommendations for an app that works with 2.1? (I'm using a HTC Desire)

HTC EVO 4G :: How To Block Unwanted Calls

Oct 15, 2010

I use my EVO 4G for business and my number is posted on my business website. Unfortunately, I get numerous calls, often with recorded messages, from people trying to sell me something for which I am not interested. On my old, non-HTC phone I would just add the unwanted incoming number to a contact called ?Delete? and set the ring for that contact to silent. The EVO 4G does not permit dozens of numbers to be added to a single number. If anyone has a better solution to tag a number as unwanted and not ring I would love to hear about it.

Android :: Way To Block Read Emails?

Jun 20, 2009

I've had my G1 for about a week and am still exploring all its possibilities. I've searched around on this forum and can't find anything regarding this. I have it set up to check my email once an hour to save on battery (not gmail, my Comcast account. I wasn't ready to sell my soul completely to Google just to use this phone!) I work on my computer all day and naturally read emails on the PC as they come in, and it's kind of annoying when 45 minutes later the G1 notifies me of an email that I've already read. Is there an app that will let you configure the phone to only retrieve unread emails? I've searched superficially in the phone but the menus seem pretty general and not able to do this.

General :: Samsung Galaxy Pocket (4.0.4) - Block Access To Other Browsers

Aug 1, 2013

Is there a way to block access to browsers? I would like the user of a Samsung galaxy Pocket (version 4.0.4) to be able to access one browser only.

The browser in use has a blacklist filter which block websites, but indeed you can easily bypass it by installing a new browser.

My past attempts: I have searched for a long time but could not find anything that worked. The browsers I have found which can block other browsers are not compatible with this device.

I have also searched for alternative ways of blocking websites though a blacklist but all of those solutions require rooting the device, which I do not have enough technical confidence to do.

Blocking Play store is not either an option since you would be able to install new browsers in other ways.

General :: Unwanted Downloaded Photos?

Jan 25, 2012

So, a few weeks ago, after having continuous problems with my phone (it kept giving me a storage capacity full warning, even though I had deleted most of my apps and all my text messages and the phone storage info on the phone said I had plenty of storage) I figured maybe I had too many pictures in my phone. I had about 375. I had never downloaded them to my computer before. So we went ahead and downloaded my photos. Too my suprise there were numerous images that came up on my computer, presumably from my phone, that were not in my pictures. Some were obviously from websites (pics of yahoo mail and such) but pics from what I would assume were from a website that I had never seen, ie. a resturant I had never been to, and a few questionable websites if you know what I mean. Nobody else has access to my phone. Where did these images come from? Was it a virus, or something attached to another website, or what??

General :: Unwanted Continuous Alarm Upon Any Notification?

Apr 13, 2014

At some point in the past (in a moment of foolishness), I installed some piece of software on my Samsung S4 that sounds an audible alarm whenever any notification appears on the bar. It starts beeping and will not stop until I swipe down. As my employer has insisted on a password, this is now often a minute-long process and very annoying and occasionally embarrassing.

Note, I like notifications; I just want to stop this alarm going off every time I get one from any application.

I cannot find anything intuitive in any list of applications or any other system list. How do I get rid of it?

I'm using Samsung Email simply because it came on the phone and seems to be able to do gmail, hotmail and exchange all in one.

General :: Stopping Unwanted Apps From Automatically Starting?

May 8, 2012

I have an Acer A100 tablet that I've upgraded to ICS (the upgrade went very smoothly, by the way). But under both ICS and the original Honeycomb, the Android OS has an annoying habit of starting a bunch of apps automatically. Facebook, Google Maps, media players and a whole host of apps that I do NOT want to start all by themselves. I found an "Advanced Task Manager" that will check every 5 minutes and kill unwanted apps automatically. But every time I check it there are still half a dozen apps running in the background that I don't want.

If it were just one or two apps, I would simply uninstall them. But it seems like half the factory apps are intent on restarting themselves no matter how many times they're turned off. My Acer has a very small battery, and I suspect I'd get much better battery life if it would only run the apps that I start manually.

Other than email and the system update manager, I really don't want any apps running in the background. And when I turn an app off, I want it to stay off until I restart it. Is there a way to edit the list of programs that start automatically? Do they all have to be disabled individually? I've checked a few of the apps, and don't see any way to disable the "automatic log-in", "check for new data" or whatever each program might call it's annoying insistence on starting whenever it wants to.

I noticed that extra files are being created continuously in the mp3 folder. Even if I make a play list the player still manages to go back to these invader files. Is that a micro sd card or android issue. I first notice it after I install ics on my SGS I9000. Now I am JB (I9300OXADLI8).
