View 2 RepliesIn my app, I get the name of the person calling from the contacts database and read it out. A user contacted me about a number in the format 123-456-7890 which doesn't work. I've tested this myself and can't see why it wouldn't work. The full code I'm using is available here, but the relevant part is below: Code...

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.
recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?
I just wanted to know if there is any app that would work without wifi or 3g network to find a lost phone? I was thinking that if a person intentionally steals a phone, he/she will immediately turn off the phone making find my phone as useless as anything .

Any recommendations for a similar app that turns the screen off but does NOT lock it.
know if i can erase the phone number associated with a sim card in order to set it up with a new phone number? I want to give my unused droid 4 to my girl, but i was told i would need a new sim card in order for her to have her current number.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a Droid X2 for about a year. My wife decided that she wanted to try a smart phone and liked my X2. So, I got a Galaxy Note II for myself and gave her the X2. On my Note II, Verizon assigned the phone number I had previously on my X2. Then, they assigned the phone number my wife had been using on her previous "dumb phone" to the X2. I didn't do a factory reset on the X2...we just assigned the new number. Well, everything's working fine except for one thing. Somehow, the X2 seems to know that it previously had the other phone number and if I call her or text her from my Note II, the call or text shows as coming from a contact called "Me" instead of my name. I've searched everywhere trying to get rid of "Me" but no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
I have contacts on my Droid with phone numbers that the same contact in Gmail do not have. Some history:
I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
On Windows 7 laptop. Htc sync is installed, but so far out of about 30 tries i have only managed to connect the phone once. I'm hoping to root my phone, but am not gonna have any luck if they can't bloody see each other!

I try to install my phone number app, but I can't install it. Play store show "incompatible with other applications with the same shared user ID" error. Then I use SIMNumberChanger-v1.2.apk, looks like its not permanently added phone number to my SIM card.
How to add my phone number to SIM card?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this up, but I figure there's going to be a lot of you coming from other non-Android handsets. I've got a TP 2 - good l' WinMo. I've grown pretty attached to it and there's a couple of apps I'm -really- going to miss and I hope a couple of you know of some good alternatives:
GPS Speedo(.exe) - Just a single exe file, all it does is make the whole screen white, with large black numbers in the center. It used the phone's GPS to measure your speed (in MPH or KPH). Any Android equivalent?
OBD Gauge - Data logging of OBD II cars via serial or, in my case, blue tooth. I used this to data log my car, or when I'm working on tuning other vehicles. This one is kinda indispensable. I'm really hoping someone will know of an alternative to this one. It connects over blue tooth by connecting via BT serial port.
G Alarm - Excellent alarm app. I use my phone to wake me up every morning. This will re-play alarms after 10 minutes, unless totally dismissed, even require a simple math problem to dismiss/snooze the alarm. I don't have such high requirements I just want a good morning alarm clock style app that will wake me up every morning.
My current phone is a Behold, KRZR before that, and a Kyocera SOHO before that. I really like the Behold, it is by far the best phone I have used to date. But it is time for a change. I'm looking for a touchscreen phone with WiFi and Android and I don't want a data plan.
Requirements:
1) Touchscreen (no slider)
2) Android, preferably 2.2 or confirmed update in pipeline (or ability to root & update)
3) No Data Plan (I'm not willing to pay $30/month for something I won't often use)
4) WiFi
5) Fast processor, 800mhz or faster
6) Camera w/flash Possibilities:
1) Because I don't want data, I don't need 3g, so I could run an AT&T phone.
2) I am willing to root a phone, as long as the process is reasonably well explained in a how-to.
3) I am not looking for a new contract and am willing to pay outright for the phone.
4) If there is a phone that will work, I am willing to consider a phone not sold in the US, if I can get it on eBay or elsewhere. Remember, no data, no 3g, so that might open a few doors.
How to change my number format from the american xxx-xxx-xxx to my country's (Argentina) format. MoreLocale 2. That's exactly what I wanted!!!" Except that's now what I am looking for. There are plenty of websites that tell you to write these numbers down in my google contacts with that format, except that's not what I'm looking for.:
MoreLocale 2 changes the standard American formatting xxx-xxx-xxx to xxxxxxxxx when I select Argentina which is NO FORMATTING once so ever. Even Brazil and Chile and Uruguay, which have the same format gives the same result.
I want my numbers to be formatted xxxx-xxxx. Any way (even manual system file editing) that will allow me to have all numbers entered into a dialer formatted xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.I've lost hours online and all I can find is people praising MoreLocale2 for removing the dashes.. I don't want them removed, I want to change the PLACES where these dashes go...
My son decided to lock his tablet with a random number he plucked from the universe! one that he can't remember! I'm pretty sure it's a MID here is the link to where I got it from. 8G 7" Android Tablet 4.1 Dual Cam Keyboard Case | Trade Me. I have tried all the different power volume button combos that were suggested on web, also have tried downloading the program to my pc to share info with the tablet, but the information sharing must not be turned on in the tablet, as when the device showed up in my computer it was empty! Where I purchased it from will send me a Getroot, but I have to pay and I'm not sure if this will even work!
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen the Optimus V came out, I found a thread either on here or XDA about how to change the model number to think it was a different phone. I did this to allow for the usage of Netflix, and I think I may have changed it to a Nexus model..
My current phone, the Optimus F7, is rooted and running stock Android 4.1.2 JB. (I rooted in order to allow for uninhibited tethering from my carrier.)I have browsed here, XDA, and countless pages on Bing and Google... yet I have found nothing about doing this... to any phone. My only desire (not the phone) is to make my F7 think it's - at least - a Galaxy S3. Many of my friends, coworkers and family have the S3 and I figure out things and solve problems on their phones, yet I find nothing on my own, so I simply wanted to turn it into an S3.
I am aware that I could simply get an S3, but I have had horrid luck with Samsung devices (not software) in the past, but have had wonderful luck with LG devices.
How to make ics show only contacts with phone number? I really miss this feature, I hate seeing my contact list as an endless list with email addresses.

In Android I can assign a preferred phone number for a contact.I would like to set a preferred contact for a phone number. If I get called and the number was added to multiple contacts (which is correct for my case), I would like to set another contact as the preferred contact when the number calls again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to organize the phone numbers in my address book so that:The phone calls I receive show the contact name (and not only the number).
The SMS messages I receive show the contact name (and not only the number).Android is able to join the WhatsApp contact with the main contact based on the phone number.
I live in Brazil and the phone numbers have a few particularities: you can include the country code or not (55), you can include the city code or not (which is usually prepended with a 0), you can include the phone carrier code or not, etc. So matching those numbers is not a trivial problem.
I have the impression that Android has an internal logic for dealing with this issue. But it's not working particularly well for me. If this logic is configurable? The issues I'm having right now are:The numbers shown in the SMS messages don't have a consistent pattern:
I was thinking if i could have an app wherein i can set a particular date and time and at that set moment my phone automatically calls the number that i set. Also if possible the call should be disconnected as soon as the call is received at the other end.
I tried to search a little if such apps were existing i found an app called "Wakeup call alarm" which is not existing any more.one application of such an app is to call my landline number in the morning so that i get up from bed at least pretty lazy to wake up from bed in mornings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to setup a second phone number using Google Voice. Some time ago I created a new number online and set it up on my previous cell. Now 2 years later I got a new cell and want to setup Google Voice, however the application behaves differently now and tries to integrate with my real phone number, and that is not my intention. During the install it verified my real phone number and tried to use it.
My question: how to set it up to use a number I created online long time ago? I clicked every option but could not find a way to repoint Voice to my second number.
Just switched from a PalmPre+ and am still trying to learn about ICS on my Droid4 but ran into something I can not seem to find a solution for:
I have several conference call contacts that share the same access number and I keep their unique access ID as part of the contact name so that I can type it in when prompted (once the call connects and the contact name is still visible on the dialer pad).
e.g.
"Adam's conferencee call code 12345678"
Work 1-800-555-1212
"Betty's conference call code 87654321"
Work 1-800-555-1212
"Charlie's conference call code 54637281"
Work 1-800-555-1212
however when manually choosing to dial from Betty's contact list, the android dialer ends up showing "Adam's conference 12345678".
is there a way to "disable the phone# look up when picking from the contact" which ends up displaying the first contact name it encounters in the alphabetically sorted list?
smart dial on my phone only search phone number in phonebook but not searching contact name. It was working before, not sure before or after rooting the phone though.

I have got an LG Optimus Vu from Korea through DHL but the customs have seized it saying there is no IMEI number provided for the phone.
I managed to convince them to let me play with the phone and checked in Settings, Phone Identity , About screens and all i saw was a serial number. I could not find the IMEI number. Also it is not there on the box. The phone has a sealed battery and microSIM so it is not possible to check the inside also.
