I was searching for a tool to edit an apk file and i found Apk Tool on xda but i think it's not, that much easy to work with this program. (for a n00b, like me.. ). I managed to open and edit te file with winRAR, but is this program also capable of proper compiling the app again, ready to use?
I tried it and it worked well i think, but is this possible with any app or other kinds of changes?

Just bought a GS2SR and installed a keyboard app to replace the android keyboard however i LOATHE the keypress sound (sounds like an old typewriter). I really like the galaxy s2 keyboard sounds so here's what i've done to solve the issue so far..
-downloaded stock GS2 rom and extracted the .ogg sound files for the keyboard click
-converted .ogg files to .wav(same format as files i am replacing inside the .apk) and renamed them to the EXACT name of the .wav files i am replacing inside the .apk
-download the keyboard .apk and open in winRAR (didn't change file extention)
-inside the .apk i located directory containing the .wav files and deleted them
-from the desktop i dragged the new .wav files into winRAR and dropped them in the original directory
-close winRAR
-resign .apk
-plug phone in and view on PC as mass storage mode.
-click and drag newly edited and signed .apk into the downloads folder on phone
-unplug phone
-install .apk on phone
So the installation went fine. I go into messaging and the keyboard shows up and works perfectly. only problem is i have no keyboard sounds! why aren't my new .wav files playing when i press a key?
are there any PC programs out there that let you edit exported SMS messages?
I'm currently using GOSMS PRO, I'm able to backup my messages in either .dat or .xml format. I also use SMS Backup & Restore and it also backs up to .xml format.
I can open the .xml file in a text editor and can edit the message contents from there, but the date format doesn't make sense to me so I was wondering if there's an editor that's GUI friendly?
I also know about apps like Fake Text or SMS Faker etc, but I wanna edit the messages on PC as it's a lot easier and faster.

I am doing a custom edit box class. It starts something like: public class Amount Field extends Edit Text and has over riden the constructor to implement the Edit Text widget style However when I implement this on my XML I get an editable Text View instead of the Edit Text (there is only text but not the surrounding white box) and also when I click on it nothing happens, only text color changes. Are there any ideas on why this happens? I've done list components the same way and style is not altered.

Aparently I have a 'me' in my contacts I guess is shown to other android users in addition to what they have my # saved as. I aparently entered jumbled letters for this and can't delete or edit it. I also have a few other contacts I made while tinkering that don't have phone numbers. There seems to be no way to delete or edit the 'me' or the contacts with no #s or even the contacts with #s. Except for adding a photo.
I tried everything I could think of, pressing and holding down the names and everything and sliding, etc etc in the 'people' app and when pressing the phone icon which bring up different screens. The names in my 'people' that don't have a # saved don't show up when I click the phone icon to dial, but that's besides the point.
I have an apk that I'd like to edit, just some simple icon and xml changes. I have decompiled, edited and signed with apktool so I'm confident everything there is ok. Only problem is, it won't install.
The apk does have a odex file with it. Is it possible to edit this apk or am I wasting my time?

I already tried editing the dpi in the build.prop file, but this didn't fix the problem. The overall dpi changed, but I was still stuck with the incorrect aspect ratio. Maybe a way to change the dpi of the x and y axis independent?

I am new to smart phones, I bought an unlocked S2 gt-I9100, I checked to make sure it read my sim card before buying..it did..but didn't realize the data wasn't working. So I've searched high and low and now I'm here. When you go to APN and open it all it has at the top is APN, you can't access anything. I tried various programs to achieve this but they all say "your android phone does not allow automatic APN setup" So I try to manually do it and it pops the APN page up and you can't do anythng but the program is in the notification thing at the top thinking it is working I guess.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that I'm wanting to use (Reads car protocols to control tablet). Presently, this app relies on the data being transfered via USB into the tablet. I'm wanting to either add or replace this connection method to allow for Bluetooth. I assume I'm only needing to change this connection method within the app's resources, manifest and XML files - needs to point to the Bluetooth socket, instead of the USB socket.
Currently, I connect to the OBDII Bluetooth device and run Torque. So, the connection will already be present with the device, just need the separate app (Steering Controls) to read the data coming into the tablet via Bluetooth for specific information that triggers the app to do what it's designed to do.
I want to edit the transparency in my statusbar (Stock Gingerbread 2.3.5), I read I had to edit in systemui.apk value/drawable.xml. But I only get hide the status bar, really nice, but isn't what i want. I am editing the wrong file.
