Can my old droid 2 that is not in use ( I have droid X activated) be used as a music storage playback device?
I had issues with the phone and went to the droid X for my phone usage. I have since received a refurbished phone but I Don't want to use it as my phone. I have the activate phone screen showing up. Is there a way to bypass?

On my galaxy tab 2 7, with Android 4.3, I have two choices of memory storage, emulated and extSdard. Im wondering if the emulated is actually on a like Cloud system or are the files still on my tablet? Also, if emulated storage is for multiple users, does this mean another device is connected besides my tablet?

I just recently mounted a 32GB SD card in the efforts to expand my storage capabilities and realized (after a little research) that this is mostly beneficial for storing media. After learning that, I figured I would start moving any permissible apps and pictures to the SD card to avoid all the 'insufficient storage' and 'low memory' warnings.
In addition, I changed my 'Save Location' (under Storage Settings) from 'Phone' to 'SD Card.'
ISSUE: The issue that I have noticed is that after moving all my pictures to my SD card, the Internal Storage 'Pictures, videos' segment says that it contained about 34MB. I thought this was odd as I moved all my pictures to the SD card and deleted the albums stored on the phone. So, as a test, I took another picture. Sure enough, now it contains about 35MB and remains the same even after I deleted that new photo.
So the question is, why does the internal storage being consumed by pictures that were transferred or deleted? Based on my experiment, it will continue to consume space even though I am deleting the images.
Additional Question: I have read on some other forums that the camera app has a setting to determine the default storage location of where new pictures are stored. However, when I go to 'Storage Location' under the camera options, it just takes me to the 'Storage Settings' menu from the main 'Settings' menu and I can't do anything different other than see that my 'Save Location' is already 'SD Card' as opposed to 'Phone'.
How can I ensure that all future pictures, videos and media are by default saved to the SD card?
I am seeing 3.31Gb of space for pictures and videos under System Settings- Storage - Device Memory, but I thought I had changed the default location for pictures and videos. Where is it getting this number?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have manually installed the drivers, and I am running windows 7 64-bit. The problem is that my Hero will not connect to my pc as a mass storage device. I pull down the notifications, mount, but then a couple of seconds later, the hero remounts the SD card and closes the connection. My computer will detect it and I can access the "storage device" for a couple of seconds, but then it disconnects.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).
The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.
Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.
So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.
I have music that is playable with Google Play Music player, but not with other players. I have chosen for the music to be "on the device", and it plays when even in Airplane Mode, so I know it is not streaming, but the music files do not show up in my "Music" directory tree, or under any other file trees that I can find. I have used ES File Explorer to do a top down search for some of the missing titles, but it doesn't find them. I'm perplexed. There must be a cache somewhere, but I can't find it.

I have a Nexus 4 with a considerable amount of "pinned" music in the Play Music app taking up storage space. This pinning seems to have taken on a life of its own, and I'm finding that the app is permanently storing music locally that I never wanted downloaded.
So my question is this: what's the best way to completely clear everything that's been "pinned" so far, and start over? I knew how to unpin music in the app before the recent design refresh, but now I'm not seeing it anywhere. Is there a way to just unpin everything through the app? Or can I use a file manager or connect the device to a PC and just delete the music files?
I use Google Play Music. Over time, I've chosen certain albums to store locally ('pin') from music.google.com on my Android 2.4 phone. Now I wish to clear these out from the phone in the name of space and begin anew.
Without an apparent way to do this on the phone (?), I connected the device to a computer and wiped out the Android music directory's files manually.
Then, when I returned to my phone's Play Music app and attempted to choose new music to pin to the device, Android is re-downloading *all* of the music I had previously chosen to store locally, completely defeating the purpose of this pursuit.
Is there a way to start fresh on the phone without deleting music from URL....? I simply want to download a select few albums to a device from my Play Music account, not everything I have ever selected to pin since my history with the service.
My phone keeps telling me I'm low on space, but I cleaned out my sd card and I know I haven room. Just today my phone at the top scroll bar said I was running low on space, and that my text memory was full even though I only had very few.

When I open my media player, I have the option to sync. I select the songs I want but when I go to sync, it sync's everything, not just the songs I selected. I have a Galaxy SII i777 4.1.2, rooted. Things were going ok after the factory reset, but I noticed that the battery was taking forever to charge and was draining extremely fast. I don't know if the fact that the telephone was running my data manager, data usage defender, battery doctor, watchdog and memory booster for one day has anything to do with this (although the battery drainage and high consumption of data was before I installed those apps and it was the reason why I did installed them this time). But today (hours after I uninstalled battery doctor, data usage defender and memory booster) the battery got quickly drained and the phone seemed dead (it didn't want to turn on and i couldn't see the icon indicating it was charging when connected). So, I inserted my sister's battery, took it out, and put my battery again. This time the phone turned on, BUT I see a message saying "enter password to use encrypted device storage." I only use four passwords for all my accounts but none of them work. I have tried different wrong passwords (as recommended) like 30 times, and nothing happens. I read somewhere that I could start ODIN, which I'm not knowledgeable of. But I don't know what to do. I pressed the power button and the volume keys, and all is showing is a green man icon and a "Downloading" message. It's been like an hour already and it keeps "downloading."
I don't remember having encrypted my phone. And if I did, I could have only used one of my four passwords.
I am having a problem getting my galaxy tab 10.1 to recognize a usb flash drive I have connected via an adapter. I know it works because it detected a wireless mouse I connected to it, and it shows up when I use dmesg or lsusb in the terminal. The thing is that none of the file explorers I've used (Es, Astro) are able to detect the files I have on it. The usb drive is formatted to fat32; would it be more likely to detect it if I formatted it to ext3 or ext4?

1. When connected as usb storage device it restarts automatically.
2. Bluetooth once switched off can't be switched on unless device is restarted.

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday i streamed a few tracks whilst testing an FM transmitter for my nexus 5.everything worked perfectly but today i went out and about and as another test i turned off WiFi and mobile data and then went into play music and all those tracks i streamed yesterday played !!!! .
i checked the tracks and none of them were down as being stored for offline access on my nexus 5.
i checked my music folder .....nothing there
then i checked my apps and found that play music was taking up nearly a Gigabyte in data storage.i cleared all the app data and cache went back into play music and had to reestablish my google account and found that now none of the tracks were playable until i switched wifi back on.
this shouldnt be happening... unless i select the download link in a track to keep it on my phone the music should just stream.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI mostly use my smartphone to take pictures and the iCloud photo stream sharing option is great for sharing pictures with close family members. Apple makes it ridiculously easy to do this quickly with a few clicks. My parents love it because they can easily see the pictures we share with them on their iPhones and iPads.
However after using a Nexus 4 for a month, I am thinking of making a switch to Android permanently. It is a great phone. However the inability to sync pictures with the iCloud photo stream is giving me second thoughts. The Google+ sharing feature is not very intuitive...or at least it is not as easily done. Since I've got my parents trained on iOS, and the Photo album contains every thing in one place, I don't want to try to get them used to a new app.
Is there an easy way to sync pictures that you take on your Android device with your iCloud photo stream without having to plug the phone to a laptop?
I've got plenty of music on my computer as well as pictures that I'd like to put on my Droid. What's the easiest way to do this? Also, if I don't have one of the ringo type apps can I use these songs as ringtones for specific contacts?
