View 4 RepliesI am running Android 4.1.1 and connecting to a VPN to secure info on public wi-fi. Unlike my laptop, which autoconnects to VPN on startup, when I go to Settings to turn wi-fi on, I must also remember to connect to VPN.
Is there a way to auto turn-on VPN at startup? Something similar to the startup folder or registry entries in Windows?
Can't turn on auto-backup for photos on my S4. Every time I try within the G+ app it immediately disables when I return to said page. Looked in sync settings and I see no issues. What is going on here? I just want to auto backup my photos.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running ICS (4.0.3) on a HTC EVO 3D and looking for an app that turn GPS on when connected to a specific bluetooth device (ie parrot in the car). Als it needs to turn Wifi off when connecting to that bluetooth device.
Now, the extra thing I would need is that it turn GPS off and Wifi on again when disconnected from the bluetooth device.
I have used A2dp volume, which turned GPS on, but not off...
I have an S4, it does have a built in option to turn the wifi on and off at specific times, but i was wanting an app that would allow me to set a few more rules, as the built in options only allow 1 on/off rule, i would like to set at least 2, one time for week days and one time for weekends.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung Galaxy Y phone is keep automatically updating apps that I don't want updating. I already know how to turn off auto updates through the play store so I have and it's not doing no difference. It keeps auto updating every few hours and really starting to get on my nervous because I can't download anything because with all this stuff downloading it keeps saying I don't have enough space.
I'm selling the phone and getting a different one that if defiantly NOT an android because it's nothing but a load of rubbish.
i bought x10 mini in february 2012. after some days i rooted the phone. and after some days it starts auto turn off while sim is inserted. and sometimes it restarts automatically. when charger is connected, there is no problem, but when disconnected, it shuts down immediately. and sometimes it turns off while sim is not inserted but the "on time period" is about 2/3 hours. but when sim is inserted, it turns off immediately just aftrer switched on the phone. and there is a battery draining problem too. sometimes, as example, 90% charge becomes 23% after autorestart. i send it to sony ericsson service centre, but nothing has improved. and now i can see the phone is not rooted.

possibility of use an Android tablet to develop an HMI interface to control electrical devices.
One of the problems it's that the devices could be long periods of time stored or simply off, so it will be needed to turn off the tablet via software when the device is Off.
The question if it's possible via an Android App/custom ROM/utilizing root/etc to force the Android device turn on when the charger it's connected?, an not enter with the typical battery charging screen.
All incoming phone calls are being automatically answered. I went to Settings>Language and Input; however, I don't see the Voice CMD for Apps option. I also want to note that this is not voice activated answering - it is just auto answering. I am not using a headset and the option for auto answering with a headset is off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis seems like a simple concept, but when I open up and close a program that uses GPS, why can't its just automatically turn on the hardware when it needs it and turn it off when you close out of the app? When I start any navigation program its ask for me to turn on the GPS, I go to that page, select to turn it on, then it ask about my location/911 setting. Why can't there be a setting to just have it do it automatically, it can't be that hard right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i downloaded advanced task killer and its great. does exactly what i need because the battery on my lg gw620 is pretty poor, but what i want to know is there an app that can turn off the auto booting of apps.
for example when i kill all the apps on my phone, if i do nothing for an hour, and i load it up again in an hour or so there are about 10 apps running (not widgets) so obviously there is a form of auto boot function that loads apps without me asking.
is there an app that can kill the auto booting?
Does your brightness sensor seem to be a bit too sensitive? When I have my Incredible on auto brightness and I am reading a website I can watch it adjust up and down when there are no changes in the brightness of the room I am in. My fix was to just select a brightness and turn auto off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of rooting to upgrade to 2.1 but have some questions I have not seen here yet. I did try searching...but as each phone is different and the Droid root is so new I could not find these questions anywhere.I have seen the term brick thrown about quite a bit here. When you talk of a risk of bricking the phone are we talking the true sense, as in the phone will be as useful as? Or are we talking the more recent and inacurate type of brick...where things dont work, but you can still access the phone and with help can reformat?Lets say I root and insall Flan, and decide I am not happy with it. How easy is it to unroot? Can I just do a factory reset?
Do you have to turn off auto syncing and backups? Can I back up my phone and program settings so that if I can undo the root.I can restore my Droid to current configuration without a lot of work?
I ordered a brand new captivate without contract on ebay sealed. If I ever run into those auto turn off problems, will I be able to switch it out for another one if I have the original box?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?

is there an auto hide home screen icons app like Auto hide desktop icons for PC? I found some but its not like i want. I want that the icons should stay hidden until i tap on the home screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an alarm clock app with one very specific feature - allow me to set the alarm tone to automatically stop after X seconds, then start again at the next snooze interval, and play for another X seconds.
Sure it seems every alarm app out there allows me to set Snooze intervals and stuff, but with my waking up habit, I don't like to physically have to touch the phone to get it to shut up until the next snooze interval. I like to lay in bed and let the alarm go for like 3-4 snooze intervals before I finally wake up.
I've tried Alarm Clock PlusV2, Alarm Clock Xtreme, Quick Alarm. None of them seem to have this.
I installed it on my Droid and when I open the list and long press on an app it gives me the option to Auto-Kill. I assume this means I won't have to kill this app any longer so I select this option but I find that I keep having to kill the same apps over and over again. What's the point of Auto-Kill or what am I doing wrong? There are lots of programs (most I didn't even install) that run all the time and I'm having battery issues so I don't have battery to waste on programs I'm not using and will probably never use.
View 22 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to tell Android to do the following when setting the background image for a TextView?
1. Scale the image so that it's just large enough to fill the the entire viewing area without any black borders, while still maintaining its aspect ratio. This might require clipping once the image is actually displayed, but that's OK (read on).
2. Then, center the image in the viewing area, both horizontally and vertically.
3. Finally, clip the image to the size of the viewing area, without any further rescaling.
I'm guessing that this kind of image processing is not automatically done via any of Android's facilities, and that I'll have to do it myself. If this is a correct assumption, could someone point me to some documentation or some examples which could explain how I can accomplish this? I'm guessing that I'll have to subclass my TextView and implement my own onDraw() method, but could someone confirm or deny that assumption?
