Android : App That Can Turn Off Auto Booting Of Apps?
May 4, 2010So i downloaded advanced task killer and its great. does exactly what i need because the battery on my lg gw620 is pretty poor, but what i want to know is there an app that can turn off the auto booting of apps.
for example when i kill all the apps on my phone, if i do nothing for an hour, and i load it up again in an hour or so there are about 10 apps running (not widgets) so obviously there is a form of auto boot function that loads apps without me asking.
is there an app that can kill the auto booting?
Motorola Droid X :: Turn Auto Sync Off - Application Enable Push Email For Gmail Account
Jul 30, 2010I have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
HTC EVO 4G :: Apps And Widgets Auto Sync Even When They Aren't In Use?
Sep 12, 2010When you have auto sync settings turned on for certain things, like Facebook, Twitter, weather, etc. but you *don't* have these apps open or any widgets on your homescreens, do they still sync at the specified times?
I ask for general knowledge, but also because I'm curious if my Dictionary.com Word of the Day widget (or even the app itself) is updating itself every day, even though I don't use the widget on my homescreens (and the app hasn't been opened in a while either). But Dictionary.com is always listed in the running programs list.
General :: Auto Restrict Background Data And Disable Auto-sync When Mobile Data Enabled
Aug 24, 2013I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?

One of the problems it's that the devices could be long periods of time stored or simply off, so it will be needed to turn off the tablet via software when the device is Off.
The question if it's possible via an Android App/custom ROM/utilizing root/etc to force the Android device turn on when the charger it's connected?, an not enter with the typical battery charging screen.

Sep 26, 2010So one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

Oct 15, 2009I am new to the whole android scene and just got my G1 and love it so far. Quick question though: I do not have a data plan therefore my emails are not constantly syncing and such. I was wondering if there is an application that would make my wifi turn on at a set time and for a set length of time in order to fetch and sync and then turn off. This would be very useful especially in the morning right before I wake up so that when I first pick up my G1 in the morning the new emails have been synced.

Mar 9, 2010This seems like a simple concept, but when I open up and close a program that uses GPS, why can't its just automatically turn on the hardware when it needs it and turn it off when you close out of the app? When I start any navigation program its ask for me to turn on the GPS, I go to that page, select to turn it on, then it ask about my location/911 setting. Why can't there be a setting to just have it do it automatically, it can't be that hard right?

Apr 13, 2010Is there a way to auto sync my Google Mail with my G1 hourly, but not sync my contacts? (They seem to erase sometimes). I'm on 1.6 OS. I also have ATT email (my home DSL accounts) and I am able to use the Android email program effortlessly there - I can set to auto check 15, 30, hourly etc with no problem. Is there an option to do the same with Gmail? All I can find is to auto sync Contacts, Gmail and calendar. Since one time google ate my calendar and contacts, I'm a little hesitant to ever sync them again.

How easy is it to unroot? Can I just do a factory reset?

Dec 12, 2013My Samsung Galaxy Y phone is keep automatically updating apps that I don't want updating. I already know how to turn off auto updates through the play store so I have and it's not doing no difference. It keeps auto updating every few hours and really starting to get on my nervous because I can't download anything because with all this stuff downloading it keeps saying I don't have enough space.
I'm selling the phone and getting a different one that if defiantly NOT an android because it's nothing but a load of rubbish.
General :: Auto Turn Off When Sim Inserted And Battery Draining?
Sep 8, 2012i bought x10 mini in february 2012. after some days i rooted the phone. and after some days it starts auto turn off while sim is inserted. and sometimes it restarts automatically. when charger is connected, there is no problem, but when disconnected, it shuts down immediately. and sometimes it turns off while sim is not inserted but the "on time period" is about 2/3 hours. but when sim is inserted, it turns off immediately just aftrer switched on the phone. and there is a battery draining problem too. sometimes, as example, 90% charge becomes 23% after autorestart. i send it to sony ericsson service centre, but nothing has improved. and now i can see the phone is not rooted.

May 7, 2010I have a Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1.Is there a widget which turns "background data" ("Settings -> account & sync -> background data") on/off? I know there are several widgets which turn auto sync on off (e.g. the power control widget) and disable data connections altogether (apndroid, quick settings, etc), but that's not what I need. I searched the market, google and this forum but couldn't find anything.The only workaround I found was to create a shortcut to "account & sync" using "any cut". Not a widget, but close enough.Is there a widget, or a better way to do this?

Apr 20, 2009I want to develop an application that disable the Background Data (new feature in Android 1.5) and Auto Sync and then enable GPRS/EDGE connection and vice versa.
I figured out how to enable/disable GPRS/EDGE by changing the APN settings. (weird solution. However; Android developers couldn't think a user may want to disable GPRS/EDGE) But, I couldn't find a way to enable/disable Auto Sync and Background data.
I investigated the Android code and as I understood, the Sync operation is an intend. So, I wanted to reach with putExtra to the intend and trigger the enabling/disabling. But; I couldn't find the correct keyword.
