Games :: Trained _ New Strategy Game / Need Feedback
Nov 14, 2010
I am new to this scene, I have just uploaded a game to the android marketplace. Only one person have downloaded the game so far, so I would like to get some feedback on how you can actually have people recognize your game and try it out, maybe by including more text in the name (Like Trained strategy, Trained puzzle etc etc..), or by other means? All comments are welcome on the game itself too!Game is ready for release on WP7 and Iphone/Ipad as well. The game is a boardgame where decent strategy and pattern recognition skills are needed. I think its suitable from 7 years and up. I am quite sure young people will develop their pattern recognition skills by mastering this game.

Our first stab at a game was just published to the Android Market. It's a fun and (hopefully) mildy addicting game where you match a list of game pieces to those bouncing around on the game board. The faster you do it, the more points and time you get, and as you clear the list the next level requires more pieces. We decided to post two versions of the game, Kromium is the full version, containing unlimited levels, difficulty settings (adjusts time and score bonuses), and the ability to enter your name for high scores. The free version (Kromium Lite) is the same concept, but is ad supported, only allows one loop through the levels, no difficulty adjustment, and generic high scoring. Here's a link to the free version: Feedback on the game in general would be great, as well as the split of functionality between the versions. Additional features and suggestions are certainly welcome. Feel free to comment on here or in the market.

I have been developing an Android game in the evenings for the past 6 weeks or so. It has finally got to the point where I am happy putting it on the market.. It would be great to get some downloads and feedback! The game is similar to match-3 style games with a hint of pacman and tetris There are now two game modes in the game, 'classic' and 'drop'. In the first your aim is to stop the timer going down by popping and eating fish. In drop, fish fall from the top and you must keep eating to stop the screen from filling! You can check it out (video etc) at.

I been having a poke around the market but haven't found anything to my taste or at least has free demos available. Can anyone recommend any turn based strategy games for Android? I'm on a Desire so preferably ones that don't require trackball or keyboard! I'm thinking of games like Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics, UFO: Enemy Unknown, Lazer Squad type thing. Anything that involves a good bit of turn based combat and some form of levelling up.

In my Android app, I have some data that needs to be synced daily but also needs to be updated every hour when a user is inside the app. I have already implemented a service that gets called from an alarm for the daily update. I'm having a problem with developing a strategy to do the hourly sync. I could use an hourly alarm too and fire the same intent, but since your app can be killed at any time, there would be no way to cancel it (and since they use the same Intent, doing a cancel would cancel ALL alarms including my daily sync, so that's probably not good). The other option is to use a Timer that's set when inside the app, and have that fire my Intent when inside the app. I'm assuming all Timers get canceled when an app is killed right? But my app consists of several activities and I want the timer to work across all activities, how do I do that? I dont want to duplicate code - we're already using a subclass for Activity and ListActivity.

In college, my senior project was to create a simple 2D game engine complete with a scripting language which compiled to bytecode, which was interpreted. For fun, I'd like to port the engine to android. I'm new to android development, so I'm not sure which way to go as far as deploying the engine on the phone. The easiest way I suppose would be to require the engine/interpreter to be bundled with every game that uses it. This solves any versioning issues. There are two problems with this. One: this makes each game app larger and two: I originally released the engine under the LGPL license (unfortunately), but this deployment strategy makes it difficult to conform to the rules of that license, particularly with respect to allowing users to replace the lib easily with another version. So, my other option is to somehow have the engine stand alone as an Activity or service that somehow responds to intents raised by game apps, and somehow give the engine app permissions to read the scripts and other assets to "run" the game. The user could then be able to replace the engine app with a different version (possibly one they made themselves). Is this even possible? What would you recommend? How could I handle it in a secure way?

Client makes remote call to the service (returns void) and provides a callback object Service executes some long running logic on the background thread and then uses callback object to trigger ether success or failure which (since these manipulate visual elements) The scenario runs fine. The question is - can I use AsyncTask to make code less verbose (how?) and would be there any advantages in doing it
that way Or should I just get away from client callbacks alltogether and execute remote service calls retrofitted to return some value.

I had this the first day & got my phone, uninstalled it and can't fine it anymore. It's one of those block games, similar to "parking break" or "sliding block puzzle" the blocks were a very muted semi transparent green and you had 1 red block which you had to get to the opening at the top. There might have been an option to change the blocks to blue. I remember it was very highly rated and had downloads in the thousands.Anyone know it?

"Letter Rip" from the makers of Word Up. Pretty cool. Letters slowly appear on a grid and you have to make words from them by moving them around the grid, then swiping the word. As more letters get on the grid, it makes it tougher to move the letters around until the whole grid is filled, then you can make words like Word Up until there is room to move letters again. Once the grid is full, you get no more letters, except for a few given to you at the top of the screen to mix in.Work fast!

Prior to taking my Dinc swimming, I had an addictive little game where you had to line up these spheres that were connected by colored bonds. You had to line up all the colored bonds so that all the spheres were connected and there were no free bonds. Kind of like chemistry, but fun.Can anyone tell me the name of this game?

Some of you may recognize my name for the game I produce, thats off topic. I've been hooked on this game: Nuclearoids - Arcadem Pro for days now and I'm wondering if anyone knows of an Android equivalent. On the iOS, I think there is a similar game called "Spores" or something.

Today I had to wipe my Nexus One, and naturally I forgot to write down ALL the apps I'd installed. One in particular is hiding from my (I swear it is!) - it's a Sudoku game. Naturally I can't remember the exact title, but I do remember some things about it.. perhaps you can the app icon was a fading red to yellow background, with cyan blue grid lines when you launched the app there was a title page: black with some kind of blue rams head type motif in the upper/middle region of the screen on top of this were maybe 4 standard grey buttons to start, about, etc when playing you found the numbers across the top, including a blank space at the end you selected squares to enter new numbers into by taping that square, then a circle appeared inside (then you hit a number from the top) in the free version (which I had) the menu button showed 2 options: (I think) new, show errors, hide notes any of this sounding familiar? I liked this particular Sudoku because of it's simplicity - no timers, no scores, no options to speak of. I've tried others, and some are better looking, but this is a very quick and simple version.

One of the very first games I had on my old G1 was a good platformer. You play as a ninja--like guy and fight hordes of insects. I think it had only two or three levels. All the dev files were available for download to add levels and stuff. Now I can't find it.
