I have tried to implement my custom Content Provider, but method openFile returns ParcelFileDescriptor that points into filesystem (or socket). My pictures are in filesystem, but in encrypted form.
I have tried also URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory, but in android java it is useless (because custom streamHandler can be register in jvm that is not allowed). I also try html code "img src="data:image.gif;base64,R0lGODlhiAAkAMQAANOOk...", but in embedded chrome it's not working.

When I start this activity within my main activity, only the title of the dialog, containing the apps name, is visible but not the WebView. If I add a TextView to the LinearLayout, it is shown as well, but still the WebView is missing.
If I don't apply android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Dialog" in the manifest, the WebView is displayed.
Why is that and how can I show a WebView in a dialog?

Jul 30, 2010I am having issue while showing a WebView in an activity in the middle of the screen. I have an activity and I want to show a webview in the center of screen. My activity is transparent so background activity will be visible. Whenever I try to create a webview and add it to activity using setContentView(webview) it always shows the view on the top left corner of the screen. Is their a way to workaround this?I am trying to do this via pure code only.

Android :: Selected State Of WebView In A ListView Does Not Show Selection
Feb 3, 2009Is there a way to show that a WebView item contained as a item in a ListView is selected? Right now the WebView does not seem to display its contents transparently like every other control so it takes up the entire view and does not show its state as selected.
Also, when the content of the WebView is selected, scrolling down with the track back does not seem to cause the WebView to loose focus. If I continue to scroll down with the track ball, all of a sudden an item in the middle of the ListView gets selected.
Android :: Starting - Java Or Python - SL4A
Jul 27, 2010I just ordered an Android smartphone and want to start playing around with creating my own applications. Now the question is which language to use, the native Java or Python using SL4A (former ASE).
I tend to Python, as I know it much better than Java, but I'm wondering what I would be missing using a "second class" language on Android. On the SL4A website it is also stated to be alpha quality software, which is not exactly encouraging.
I'm also not quite sure what the limitations of the scripting environment are and if they would be problematic.

Context
Consider a FTP browser that resumes the previous session on launch. Each folder is displayed in its own activity. When I click on a folder, a new activity is started for the folder. If I press the back button, the app returns to the previous activity, which corresponds to the the parent folder.
I can logoff from the menu at any time. Logging off should bring me to the login activity (not present the current task when the app has resumed the session), and close all the other activities. How can I do this?
From what I've read, if the activity were in the current task I could use FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP in the intent, but this is not my case.

Apr 4, 2009I have encountered a problem with focused text fields in a WebView not showing entered text values.As long as a WebView text field has focus it will not show text or even the blinking cursor.You can select and highlight the text or unfocus the field to see it, but when it gains focus it will not show the text as if the foreground color of the text is white.The simplest code to demonstrate this is below.With the setTheme using a Light background, try typing values into the Email text field to notice that the text is not visible when the field is focused.

Jun 1, 2013What I am trying to do is get either nest-api in PHP or pynest in python to run out of SL4A in order to control my Nest thermostat ultimately out of Tasker. Both are found on github, but I can't link to them as I apparently need ten posts to do so. So a google search for "nest-api github" and "pynest github" will have to do I suppose.
I have absolutely no issues getting either to run out of Terminal on my MacBook Air, but for whatever reading the SL4A shell seems to escape my understanding. I would rather have the PHP script work, as it has more options for things I can set, which I like. Where to put the nest.class.php on my phone in order for the PHP shell to reference it when running the example.php or any script I write myself. When I put both files in the sdcard/sl4a/scripts folder and try to run either from within either sl4a or sl4a's shell I get a call to undefined function error.
For the python script, I'm not sure how I need to import the module so that I can call it with nest.py at the beginning of my command line prompt and follow it up with the user name and password and so on. I've done everything including trying to create an .egg file, which I've since been told is not necessary, and that I simply have to put it in the /sl4a/scripts folder. That doesn't make sense to me though, as I needed to run the setup.py command on my computer in order to start using it, and the .egg file should be the equivalent of that on the phone, no?
So what I am looking for is the foolproof way to get either a php or python script running through the shell that isn't actually hooking into the Android environment at all, which is what all the writeups I have found in my searching seems to pertain to. Then eventually make sure that they are available in a way that Tasker can call them. I should also note that all this has been done in an emulator through eclipse until this point, as I didn't want to go screwing around with my brand new Nexus 4's file structure until I had the best practice perfected.

Jun 10, 2010I know I'm not the only person that gets emails with embedded html or inlined images via google mail. When I get emails like this, I have to click on "Show HTML" or "Show Picture" every single time an email comes in if I actually want to see the email the way it was intended to be shown. I know for a fact that iphones and other email readers dont have any issues with this. Is there a setting to automatically display the email the way it was meant to be shown instead of having to click these buttons each time I want to view the email correctly? Or, perhaps there's already a market app that forces the android email client to display emails correctly?

Sep 10, 2010Brand new to droid land, and was wondering.yesterday I got a droid 2. from playing with it all day, at the end of the day, it seemed overly sluggish. so, I was wondering ,when I am in an application like the browser, to exit it, I just tap the hooked arrow key on the phone, guess it's like a back button. anyhow, I just tap that until I get back to the home screen. so, if I do that for every application I run, does that mean at the days end, I've got however many apps running in the background?

Aug 27, 2010So it didn't happen immediately after dropping my phone, but I've dropped my phone a few times from hip level on hard surfaces (concrete,tile, etc.) and one day I noticed my spring on the stand wasn't operating correctly. Basically now my kickstand won't close fully and randomly will pop open or stay open like halfway. So my question is has anyone had this issue yet? Was the repair easy to fix? Just open the backplate and keep performing surgery until the stands spring is accessible?

Evo camera even after tapping focus is terrible. I could read the BB photo as to text on screen but EVO not even close. Can I not take macro type pictures with the EVO camera?
