Android :: Turn Off The Button Backlights From Code?

Aug 18, 2010

I know this is possible as the built in clock app and other apps are able to do it. How do you turn off the button backlights from code? These would be those like the softkeys on the bottom of the Nexus One screen.

Update: Found this, but it only works on Froyo: WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = getWindow().getAttributes();
lp.buttonBrightness = 0;

Does anyone else get annoyed by the bottom button backlights going out too quickly? Is there anyway to lengthen the time on that? It really is annoying to be surfing in the dark and not being able to see the menu button. Wish it was on the same timing as the main screen.

Samsung Captivate :: Backlights On Bottom Keys

Jul 24, 2010

Is there any app/hack/widget to keep the backlights on the bottom buttons on just as long as the screen is backlit? So annoying how quickly they go off. Equally as annoying is how quickly the screen goes to sleep after you get a text. It literally stays on for 2 seconds, so I have to press the power button then slide/unlock to get to my text. Needs to be an option to keep it on for longer (10 seconds).

Android :: Application Crashes When User Presses Back Button / Where To Put Code?

Oct 6, 2010

First of all, maybe i went about this the wrong way in the first place. Situation is, i have a listview that when an item is clicked, it creates an intent and calls startActivityForResult() to another activity, to be able to edit the entries in the row. and that other activity after editing the required values, returns back to the calling activity, when the user clicks on a save button. The activity then uses the row Id to update the item.My problem now is that, if the user presses the BACK button instead, the application crashes. i have been looking around and see solutions like using Shared Preferences or onSavedInstanceState(), but i don't know where exactly i should be putting the code?

Motorola Droid :: Turn Page Up / Down By Button

Jan 18, 2010

I was waiting for Passion for months after reading posts here, literally coming here every day for rumor confirmed, but you all know that's history now. In the stock browser I can turn page by flicking finger on the screen, but isn't using hardware rocker much more precise? Is there a way to do that? In dolphin the rocker sort of does that, but it makes an annoying beep as well. I can turn off sound beforehand to avoid that, but it's easy to forget to turn up sound afterwards. I migrated from HTC 6800 (WM6), the rocker smartly only changes volume when using the phone, while in other situations it smartly turns page instead. Can Droid be up to that?
