Nov 3, 2010
So does anyone know if there is a program that will allow me to track how many times my app is opened daily?
I'm not looking to track the users behavior or anything, I just what stats on the average use of my app.

I've been trying to find out how to create an intent that will open the user's preferred browser without specifying the URL. I know how to open it by giving a specific URL like this:Intent intent = new Intent();intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); intent.setData (android.net.Uri.parse ("http://www.google.com")) ;context.startActivity (intent);I don't want to open the browser to any page in particular, just the set homepage or whatever page the user was on last. I've thought about looking up the homepage set within the app but you can't do it with the default Browser app because it is private. Does anybody know of a way to do this?

Ex-Blackberry user here. I had and Loved Berry Weather by Bellshare. I cannot for the life of me find something comparable. I love the HTC weather widget, but want to be able to see other weather related items like % chance of rain, hourly etc. I have weather.com's install as a supplement to HTC's, but I'd rather have something all inclusive. I do not mind paying money for this. Any help on a Good weather app?

Not sure if this can be done without an additional app. But does anyone know if there is a way to set a daily reminder? I appreciate any assistance. Ideally I can just set it and forget it and not have to set it every day.

Is there a daily planner app that looks similar to this: http://www.theprintables.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/daily-planner.jpg
Or has a feature similar? Something so I can visually see when I have and don't have time to fit into my schedule.

I am looking for an organiser with repeating tasks so I can set my tasks I need to do everyday to repeat and still be able to add one off tasks to the same day. Does anyone know of an app to do this?
I had an app on my old phone that automatically popped up a list of things i wanted to do everyday and then I added anything extra for the day. Then as i completed them it removed them for the current days to do list but kept it repeating in the next days list etc...

I want an electronic version of this: '10/'11 At-A-Glance Academic Monthly Planner, 6-7/8" x 8-3/4" | Staples
I just want to be able to write down school assignments quickly for each day as the day goes on. I don't want to associate them with certain events or times or anything, but I think I want more than just a notepad.

I've just plugged it in every night to charge the battery. Is there any need to shutdown and restart the Incredible on a regular basis like you would for a computer? Just wondering if this would clear caches, speed it up, etc.

I'm kind of a light weight user of cell phones anyway. But now I'm using my first smart phone, An HTC Incredible, and it seem to me that I need a daily battery recharge even without using a lot of GPS, apps, etc. Any help with what to turn off, or general information on what kind of battery life to expect would be appreciated.

Does anyone else find themselves having to power cycle their Droid on a daily basis?I'm still in the honeymoon phase so I do LOTS of stuff on it (add/remove apps, play with stuff, change settings, run lots of apps, etc.) which may have something do to with it.I find that if I don't power cycle my phone at least once in a 24 hour period, it starts getting very sluggish.

I have significantly improved my battery life over the past few days by changing two simple settings....email and wifi.
Email first -
I have accounts set up on the Hero with Yahoo, GMail and Hotmail. When I looked, the Yahoo was checking every 15 minutes. GMail every hour and Hotmail once per day. As I am often in front of a PC with email open, this seemed like overkill.
So, I altered all three accounts to check only once each day automatically.
I also switch my wifi connection on as soon as I get home and leave it connected until I go to bed. I've now started turning this off when I'm not actively using it.
Here's my non-scientific results:
Getting up at 6:30am each day and using the Hero as normal before altering these settings would get the battery charge down to 25% at best by 11pm when I put it back on charge. It would often be less than 25%.
After changing the settings as above, my battery usually stays over 85% until probably early evening. My usage goes up when I get home from work quite a bit though and yet by 11pm, I still haven't seen the charge less than 65% yet.

I have found that the Samsung App "Daily Briefing" is a real memory hog and since I don't really use it (now) - is there a way I can disable it? I have removed it from the main screen but it still shows up in Taskiller so somehow it is launching itself in the back.

Am I the only one who is using the Daily Briefing preprogramed app on the fascinate? I like it but have never been able to get any of the 3 to synch up, even when I changed their settings to every 30 minutes. If there is another app that gives the same stock, weather, and top national and world news that DOES synch, I would love to know.
