I wrote a simple hello c program. I pushed the program to either Android Emulator or a device. When I run it, however, I got "./hello: not found" message. I ls-ed it and it's right there. Is this purposely disabled?

Couple of days back I moved from a 910 to X10 with market app disabled as market is not available for UAE.I came to understand that if I want to install apps without market, I need a file manager like Astro. But then to install Astro, I need astro.The other alternative is to use the SDK. But the SDK route doesn't work, as the stock USB driver that comes with SDK does not support X10.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem where I cannot run aapt from an sbt command as well as from the shell.
I run this command: sbt update package-debug
And everything hums along until I get this error: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "/home/egervari/Programs/android-sdk-linux_x86/platforms/android-7/tools/aapt": java.io.IOException: error=2, No such file or directory
So I try running it manually, just for the heck of it: egervari@ken:~/Programs/android-sdk-linux_x86/platforms/android-7/tools$ ./aapt bash: ./aapt: No such file or directory

Just wanted to relay my issues that occurred with Startup Auditor. I use a Moto Droid 2.0.1.
First issue: I disabled Google Talk Startup as non of my friends have an Android device. This caused an issue with the Market. none of my apps would download the updates and I could not Download new apps. The Market is somehow connected to Google Talk. After enabling Talk and logging back in my apps started downloading.
Second issue: I disabled the stock messaging app because I am using Handcent SMS. This caused my text messages to delete themselves. When I opened my messaging treads all that was shown was my side of the conversation. After re enabling the stock Messaging app my messages started downloading and showing up in the treads. Handcent must use some of the same things that the stock app uses and Startup Editor was killing.
I had an application on my home page that looked like a a small green cylinder. it told me how many applications were currently running. if i clicked on it, it would tell me what applications were running in the background. now the green bar is gone and i can't seem to figure out how to get it back. not sure if it was a standard android application or something i downloaded. can anyone help me figure out how to get it back?

I had override two attributes and
1) android:sharedUserId= "hii.hello" under <manifest> tag 2) android:process = "guide.android" under <application> tag
I had made these changes (asign the same values) in the both the applications but could not get expected results. How to check whether both these applications are running in the same process?
Should I sign both the application with the same certificate?
I have an Android G2 and would like to run the same applications that are running J2ME on my other cell E62.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery so often I check my memory with Advanced Task Manager and I see certain applications running in the background and my available memory has dropped quite a bit. Now I am using the HTC Incredible so I still have about 127 MB free, however what concerns me the most is why the programs are even launching themselves in the first place. I could see some application having to start themselves, like a twitter client or an email client, however one of the programs that seems to be launching itself is the eBay app. I installed the app in case I wanted to view an ebay listing however I never use the program and it still seems to launch itself. Is this an example of a poor application design (i.e. ebay app) or is there some other reason these programs are launching themselves?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been researching the OS a bit and I can't really tell what happens to programs when you hit the home button to leave them. Do they stay running in the background? After a little bit of time does the system close them out? What happens to them? I have a Sprint Evo and I don't see a way to close them out. I know that battery life can always be helped, and I would hate to leave them running all day just sucking the life out of the phone if they don't have to be.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was screwing around with battery usage today and here is what I found as the bottom line. Now this doesn't mean this is the same for you, but I'm sure you all know that. I changed nothing on the evo besides Gtalk automatically signing me in. (No skimping if you would) and I was at a golf club all day yesterday and had perfect signal strength. My EVO went 23hrs on one charge with decently heavy use. When I went back home (bad signal, 1 bar, no 3G) my phone's battery lasted just about 13hrs. Therefore I think TWS is one of the biggest battery culprits. Hence why if you complain to Sprint, they send you a free Air Ave like they did for me and many others.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I first boot up the phone and check the memory (after shutting down all the apps I don't want running) I notice my phone has about 220-250 MB free after leaving the phone on for about 2-3 hours, with no activity on my part, that number gets smaller and smaller. I just rebooted my phone again because it was down to 125 MB free with no applications running.
Also, "Android System" is consuming 65% of my battery life. I realize that number is inaccurate after a fresh reboot so I played with the phone for a good 4 hours running apps and such, so that I could get a good test of how much the OS is eating up in comparison to other apps. 65% is a bit much no?
the phone is top notch but every now and then it will just shut down and then will take bout half hour to get back on as when turn on it shuts down again and again. It mainly happens when running apps and internet, say i got internet n fb running then i start typing a text it will shut down for no reason i havnt a clue why this is happening. Getting so frustrating as i love the phone but i cant deal with it. Also why cant i browse the main browser using my 3g connection only with wi-fi but i can use opera mini using 3g ? thanks alot !

I remember within a few minutes I of just ending a set, there were about 19 more running again. I feel like my phone is bloated right now and all I do is check gmail and google voice and I end up having a bunch of other crap running. My phone was officially charged 100% around 12am EST this morning and its less than 15% now.

I find that everytime I open and application it I can not close it down it just runs in the background. I have tried force stop and that does not work so what is the answer?The more apps you have running the more it kills the battery life. View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got a Droid 2 and I'm tinkering around. I saw the "Running Apps" list and its pretty useful if I say so myself. However is it necessary to go in there and stop apps that I'm not using all the time to save battery life? Do apps still run after their closed, because Facebook was running after use. And when stopping apps my phone tells me that "this can have undesired consequences on the app" which scared me a bit. I haven't even done my first charge yet, but my battery went down about 40% in about 2 and a half hours.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOK, like most here I'm struggling a bit with battery life. Last night for example I was 100% charged when I went to sleep, woke up to the phone at 72%. So yeah, nearly 30% battery lost simply sitting there doing nothing.So, I have just now killed off the DRM service and media hub in running services in hopes that my issue is what others have experienced.
However... I routinely notice many other apps running in my task killer "Advance Task Killer Free". Just now for example I just shut everything down. I sent a text message to the wife, and now the following apps are once again running:
Voice Dialer
Media Hub
Amazon MP3
There are others that I actually want going, JuiceDefender, SysTray Monitor... but what is up with these above?? I am CONSTANTLY seeing them run. Is there a way to shut these down for good? Why are they starting up on their own? Does anyone know if this is a part of my battery issues?
Is it possible to run multiple apps at the same time on Android? I have an app that has two separate layers and which they are normally launched separately. They open sockets and talk to each other via those sockets. I am not sure if this would be possible under Android - may be generate two separate projects and their corresponding UIs and then launch them at the same time. If that is not possible I am assuming I will need to launch them from the same UI - their interprocess sockets should be able to connect to each other. Is this something that is worth pursuing?

I can run it fine on a phone running 1.5 but when I try to launch it with an emulator running 1.5, the emulator doesn't show up on the list of available AVDs. I have the <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3"/> tag in my manifest but it doesn't make a difference.
