View 1 RepliesI want to get an app that offers predictive text since my Droid does not seem to do it by default. Does Better keyboard do this? I want it to be able to finish my words before I finish typing them.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen using the hardware keyboard, sometimes I get predictive text options on-screen, then sometimes I don't. Is this due to lag or is free a button u have to push to get it to come up?
View 7 Replies View RelatedYou know how when you type something incorrectly it corrects it to the most likely word? Well, in a few cases I have saved words on accident, like I saved the word "tou" once by accident. So now every time I type that it stays at that and doesn't auto correct to "you." How can I go into my saved words or even predictive text menu and edit words?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have used Swype, and the beta stopped working and no version works. I also HATE that you can not do voice to text. So then I get the froyo keyboard raved about on here. For some reason voice to text does not work and I get a server error no matter what. So then I get swiftkey trial. Excellent keyboard. It does not seem to always use predictive text. For example when I open my gmail app and respond to email it does not work. Voice to text works great though.I like predictive text and voice to text. Those are musts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomehow I changed the settings on my phone so that the predictive text has started prioritizing the names in my contact info when auto completing the text. For example, if I type "thr" it won't suggest "the" but "Theo". I recall changing a setting somewhere in the phone that enabled this, but now I want to turn it off and have no idea where this setting was buried away.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any app that allows you to change the order in which words appear in my predictive text list, or completely delete one? It annoys me that everytime I try to type 'as' I get 'BS', even when I never remember typing that in a message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to this phone and Android and for some reason, the predictive text isn't working even though it's turned on in the settings. Am I missing something here?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do like using the predictive text on my desire, i find it much easier, one question i have though, is there anyway to change the order in which the phone gives suggestions, so if it always predicts a certain word as the 2nd option, is there anyway to make that word always the first option? for instance if i type they, which i do a lot, view always is the first option, it would be so much more useful for me to be able to set certain words as the first prediction.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to type anything, every single word results in the predictive text box appearing giving suggestions which most of the time are wrong. After 30 words or so, it becomes so sluggish that it can take 30secs+ before I can type the next word.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe predictive text on the HTC stock keyboard works great. However, there are certain occasions where I do not want to select the predicted word (or any of the other suggestions). Normally, I would want to hit the spacebar to proceed to the next word I want to type. However, when I hit spacebar it selects the predicted text and replaces what I typed. Is there a trick to skipping predicted text?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to shut off predictive text instead of hitting the t9 button everytime i send a message?? also i downloaded the chomp sms application to make texts look like the iphone but i still have to go through both programs to get rid of the notification is there a way to just used the application and not have to go through the phones messaging to get the notification away
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst android so be easy on me but my phone is not doing predictive text, is there some way to turn this on? Also how the heck do you snooze on the alarm, i could not figure it out for the life of me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRegarding the lack of Predictive Text or XT9 on certain applications: I contacted google with the following bug report:- Steps to reproduce the problem. Verizon Droid Eris (stock, 1.5 i think): tap the magnifying glass to search the web. use the 9-key phone pad method of text input.
What happened."XT9" text input is locked. only "ABC" or "abc" available. What you think the correct behavior should be. All android applications and functions that accept text input should support XT9 predictive texting for the 9-key phonepad and compact-qwerty. The google folks said the following: "Android does not contain a T-9 input method by default. Please report this bug to HTC, owners of that particular piece of software."And then HTC said the following: Hello Ben Thank you for contacting HTC technical support about the abc/xt9 being greyed out. I have checked on this for you and found that is how the device is set up when using these areas on the apps. There is no way of changing this and I do apologize for that. When entering google searches and also browser addresses predictive text is not available for input. If you have any other questions feel free to reply. I would also like to invite you to participate in a customer satisfaction survey located at HTC Online Survey.
Is there a way to reset the predictive text without hard resetting the phone? I guess I saved some words to my predictive text that I don't want anymore.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWould someone please advise me how to totally disable all predictive text functionality in Xperia X8 ? I've had this problem with every single mobile phone I've ever had and cannot possibly imagine why anyone would want something so mindlessly stupid.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've just got a huawei ascend p2, which I lv but I don't want the predictive text and there's nothing to take it off that I can see, the main let down is that there's no Smiley's!!!!!!!
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of yesterday my predictive text has gone weird. It seems to be making very odd choices of words when I'm typing a text. It also seems to be including some foreign language characters which I think are Turkish. I've checked the language settings and it's definitely set to English. The problem isn't application specific as I've tried both the default messages application but it appears to be specific to the Touch Input keyboard as SwiftKey keyboard appears to be ok. I've tried rebooting but it's the same deal. I prefer the default keyboard so I really don't want to go to another one.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi love my phone, but the suggestions offered by predictive text drives me crazy sometimes! i would like to know how i change the order of the suggested words? for example, when i am using the t9 keyboard and i have predictive text on and i press #4 and #3 i am usually trying to type the word "if" or "he" but the word typed is "id" which is kinda stupid as this is a much less often used word. how do i change it this? when i was using a s60 device i could open a new message and keep typing the same word over and over again until it started giving me the word i wanted as my first option. please dont tell me to use the full keyboard as i prefer to use the phone keypad so i can text one-handed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile using the predictive text in the DINC I sometimes want to type something that isn't a word like an acronym or some abbreviation. Predictive text will suggest a word close to what I am typing but I don't want that. It offers exactly what I am typing as an option but then it adds that text to the dictionary. Sometimes that's great but most of the time I want to simple use the term once and not add it to to dictionary. If I type space it will change my text. If I select the offered override it adds the text to my dictionary. How do I just keep what I am typing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having problem in Virtual Keyboard. I am having text field. if user click the text field then virtual keyboard need to appear. how to do this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have a 2.1 sdk(eclair) version Samsung device, which has virtual keyboard with a microphone indicator to support speech to text (STT). Our application is mostly a text entry application and uses Inputconnection class and committext method to recognize the inputs and put all the entered text on display. In swype input mode, if we press the microphone, the voice recognition automatically runs(shows recording interface, records, synthesizes and sends text to commit text, and hence it is working. However, for "Android keyboard" input , the recording interface automatically shows up, however, we do not receive committext callback, so nothing is updated on our text box after the recording. So, seems we have 2 options:
1. Disable only the mike/microphone keys visibility on the Android keypad. How can this be done?
2. Have the STT to work on the Android keyboard. Seems that the keypad is automatically starting a recording interface - hence we do not know how to even integrate the voice recognition program given in the sdk 2.1 examples VoiceRecognition.java file. How can we detect the microphone/mike key was pressed? Or how can we do this?
There is NO keyboard or text entry widget... I try to create an new account so i get that form that asks for my email and pass... but when I click on it i get a Google vocal input thing that does not do the work anyway... I went to setting, turned it off, still no keyboard...
cannot find any info not even from Ainol them selves.The tablet works with android 4.1.1...Is there anyways to 1) update to a different aNDROID VERSION OR 2) activate the standard keyboard that we find on ALL tablet but mine..
I want to open soft keyboard while starting an activity. The activity contains nothing as its element. I just need to open soft keyboard on the launch. I've tried with
<activity android:windowSoftInputMode="stateAlwaysVisible|stateVisible|adjustResize" but it didn't work.
Also tried with
getWindow().setSoftInputMode(WindowManager.LayoutParams.SOFT_INPUT_STATE_ALWAYS_VISIBLE);
but it didn't work as well i'm using emulator to run the code
I have used a bit of Android code to override the "Done" button in my EditText field:
myEditField.setOnEditorActionListener(new TextView.OnEditorActionListener() {
@Override public boolean onEditorAction(TextView v, int actionId, KeyEvent event) {
if (actionId == EditorInfo.IME_ACTION_DONE) { mySubroutine();
return true; } return false; } } );
Activating the field calls up the keyboard, and pressing "Done" evaluates mySubroutine() successfully. However, the keyboard no longer goes away when I press "Done". How do I restore this default behavior to the routine?
Is there a way to set the default keyboard type for a html text input field for a webkit view on Android? Can this be done via CSS?
