Android :: Passing Unicode String Through JSON Request

I am having a unicode string "u3403" which is actualy some japansee character I want to pass it through a JSON object. So i put the value as say String str ="u3403" jsonObject.put("name",str); When i do this the json object internally adds another escape sequence as "u3403", and the request string has two "" slashes.This is interpreted wrongly by the server as it does not detect unicode name.What can i do for this?

I have an assignment to be completed. The assignment needs sms texting service facility in Roslien Font (for each English alphabet we have a corresponding alphabet in Roslien, something like Wingdings) for Android platform. On going through the posts available on different forums in INTERNET, I observed that in order to send a different language text, I need to send the sms as a unicode string. The problem is, I have no clue on how to obtain the unicode string for a completely new font , Roslien. I have a " .ttf " file for the font which as such which contains the alphabets in the language.
Please help me , how do I obtain unicode string for the particular font.

i searched the net to find something about how to pass arguments to JSON c# .net web service, but i didn't find anything useful for me. I have to pass arguments like GUID or at least Username and Password. Is params.put("var", ""); the right thing? How do i pass multiple parameters like this, let's say username and password?

I'm not very clear about the Intent object and how to use it to pass data between Activities. In my application I have several tabs between which I want to pass ArrayList. Here is a sample code I plan to use, but I'm missing the part where the main activity catches the Intent and passes it to the new activity on start :
1. myTabs.java ==> This is where I think I need to add some code to pass the data between TabOne and TabTwo. For now it is just using the sample code of the TabActivity sample.

2. TabOne.java ==> I added a piece of code in the onStop procedure to fill in the Intent data with the array I want to pass to TabTwo. Not sure it is the right way to do though.

i'm making a program that needs to set to a textview the content of a string stored in resource/string file
in my program i generate a string and i need to set the text using that string like a resource id. the problem is that the resouurce ids are integers.
something like:
test = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvMyTV);
mystring = "test_a";
test.setText(Html.fromHtml(getString(R.string.myst ring)));

i obviously can't use R.string.mystring, i should use
test.setText(Html.fromHtml(getString(R.string.test _a)));

I am a newb to Android and Java and want to write a funtion that will display a list based on a varable that I pass to the function. The function is below and the code below creates an array out of a string called type, but what I want to do is pass it a variable string and have it build a list based on that string. this Android code worked fine before, but i'm having problems for some reason. here is the request i'm trying to make: https://www.google.com/reader/api/0/token. i'm getting 400:Bad Request as a response, and i'm not sure why. isn't this the correct URL for requesting a token? the auth token is being passed as a header in all requests now, and i can request feed list, and it works just fine, so there's nothing wrong with the auth code. what gives? in addition, i can request a token in a normal browser, like Chrome, and get a token as a response body. so the request itself is not the problem. i just can't figure out what is wrong with my requests in code...

I am developing an Android app for a website. I'm trying to get some information from the website by sending a cookie using a HttpGet request. I don't know where I am going wrong with the request. I am using AsyncTask to send the request to the server. The request also uses a token which I receive when I login to the webpage. All this is clear in the code below. I own a Xiaomi MI2S, running MIUI-3.8.16 @ Android version 4.1.1.JRO03L with Baseband version CEFWMAZM-2.0.128 017.
From my phone provider (Tele2) i have to dial a 1 (one) before my PIN-code when traveling abroad.
The code is accepted, I can be called and i can send and receive SMS messages.
However i cannot make phone-calls...
The error (?) is "DIAL request modified to SS request" and (very short) "not connected"

Are there any tools that go through the file taken from the xcode project and build the xml needed to use the strings in android? In Android, capturing date from datepicker and storing as string in sqlite. Sorting by date doesn't work because they're strings (unless I'm doing it wrong.I've googled this issue for ~5 days, and it looks like there should be a way to capture the date from the date picker, convert it to a Long, store it in sqlite as a Long, select and sort on the Long date value, then convert the Long back to a "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display. I've tried various combinations of parse statements, Date, FormatDate, etc. with no luck at all.On activity start, get today's date and display it in button which calls the datepicker.Capture new date from datepicker (if one is entered), save it as a long to sqlite.On opening an activity showing a listview of records, select from sqlite with orderby on date (Long), convert Long to "mm/dd/yyyy" string for display in ListView.

I have preferences where you can enable/disable what items will show up on the menu. There are 17 items. I made a string array in values/arrays.xml with titles for each of these 17 items.
I have preferences.xml which has the layout for my preferences file, and I would like to reference a single item from the string array to use as the title.
In the Android developer reference, I see how I can reference a single string with XML, but now how I can reference a string from an array resource in XML.

I have a class that creates a view to gather data via a function getView() that provides a view with an EditText.This class has also has variable answer.When the user chances the EditText I want to store the content of the EditText in answer.If I would use an onKeyListener I fear that the answer will probably get stored before the last letter is entered.Is there a good way to handle this in the getView() function via some other listener?

I am developing application for android phone. Currently I am testing my system in the emulator. In my application, I want to send Unicode character (Amharic language character) via SMS to the other emulator instance. But in the receiver side, the message is not viewed properly. I think the problem is some character encoding related problem. In addition similar problem happens for texts which are queried for the sqlite database. That is when I send a query result via SMS the same problem occurs.

My HTC Wildfire does not support Arabic and Hindi Unicode characters, however it supports Chinese. Arabic and Hindi characters are displayed as boxes. I have written an application that uses Google's translation service.

I'm fetching some data from my web API that returns XML with content which includes escaped unicode characters. So there is content such as "Izložba" which I need to display in a TextView as word "Izložba". How can I do this? Right now these characters are either omitted or displayed as that raw escaped value.

I have an Android app where I want to check to see if an app name that is installed matches a string passed to the function containing this code.Assuming you called checkInstalledApp('SetCPU'); and the app name on the phone is called the same thing it should return true. However, it never does. I logged the results and it should match up but it does not. Can anyone please enlighten me as to why this doesn't work?
