how google voice application is taking control of the default phone native dialer? Is it using the public android API? I saw how google voice display a bubble at top and mask the dialed out number in the native dialer. We need to do something like this in our application but I can't find nothing about how to do it. Please google guys give me a tip about if it's native code or public api.

-to make all calls from GV
-to make only international calls from GV
-make no calls from GV
-ask if you want to use GV (before every call)
I dont want any of these. I want my normal dialer to use my normal number and whenever I want to make a call from GV I want to click on an APP and have a dialer appear and any calls from that dialer are made with the GV number.my BB worked this way. I would click on GV and then start dialing and it made the call with GV.
I'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced.There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background,listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.

When you first make a call with GV selected it pulls up the GV dialer google_voice_android_1.jpg.Then it switches the the Eris dialer.Does anyone know if/how the GV dialer could be used instead of the Eris'?I really like the look of the GV dialer much better than that of the Eris.

I currently have my Google Voice settings to *always* use Google Voice, however when I call someone my actual number shows up. If you are unfamiliar with Google Voice, the Google Voice number should show up. This problems seems to be limited to my ROM which has the HTC dialer replaced by Dialer One.

I've canceled my Verizon texting plan and want to send all of my texts through Google Voice. Obviously I can do this by composing messages through the GV app, but I would like to click on a contact's page and have GV automatically open to send the text message. Much like Handcent opens when you select a contacts texting option, when you have Handcent installed. When I select the text message option from a contacts page (or press their contact picture and then select the text option), the Droid opens the standard text message application to send the text. Interestingly, if I go into the call log, select a recently called number and choose "send text message," it opens Google Voice to send the text message. How do I get the same functionality as above, so that selecting text message from a contact's page or shortcut uses Google Voice to send the message?

Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
I don't like the sense screen that comes up when you make calls, and I have google voice installed. How do I make sure that the google voice screen, pictured below, sticks instead of having it switch to the sense call screen. Also, can I theme the google voice app? I'm not a fan of the colors.

It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.

1) how do you enable voice activation so you can search by voice rather than typing stuff in?

So my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) and a Galaxy S4 Google Edition (GT-I9505G). Both unlocked and rooted.
With JB 4.2.2, the native SIP dialer has always worked very well and I could place and receive calls (using my own Asterisk PBX server) without problems.
With the new JB 4.3 OTAs now, whenever I place or receive a call, the incoming audio is perfect but the outgoing voice sounds terrible: choppy and noisy to a point where the people on the other side can hardly understand what I'm saying.
I flashed both units back to JB 4.2.2 and the problem went away, no matter the configuration or the apps installed. Conversely, I can always replicate the problem with JB 4.3, clean setup, no additional apps or services.
Can anyone explain to me how the voice dialer chooses the possible phone numbers it displays as options? All of my contacts have at least two phone numbers (mobile and work), for some contacts the voice dialer only lists one number and for others, it will list all of them.I thought it might have something to do with the designated 'primary' number, but changing that has no effect.When I ask the app to call my wife, it only shows her mobile number even though there are two other numbers in her contact info.Even if I say to call her "at work" the work number won't show up, only the mobile number.

I upgraded to 4.0.3 last Saturday after which the Phone and Contacts Icon at the Bottom disappeared.
I can't add it from App Menu too as it seems the application itself has been removed somehow.
I don't see them in the list of Application installed in ALL Tab.
I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

VR matches this against a specific valid vocabulary containing only "yes & no", and then returns "no". Can you do this yet? Last time I looked you could not. The VR would match against a full vocabulary and user saying "no" would come back with things like "snow" and so on.The other BIG problem was that if the VR got no match a "Retry" dialog was displayed, this needed to be dismissed by using the screen, which meant the the voice control process failed at this point, terminally.

I downloaded the HEAD revision of the Voice Dialer from GIT (used the web interface) but there are so many errors and I have no idea how to fix them.I did the same thing for the 3D Gallery and that turned out fine. But the Voice Dialer is a completely different story.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOk after a few deals where things seemed a little amiss with stuff happening on their own on my Moto Droid I have found a good example and wonder what other people think about this question.Not to long ago I read somewhere about confirmation that Google can go into your phone and wipe apps and make changes on the fly with push technology and no notice. How true is this and can Devs do the same thing? About a month ago a program that I used regularly after trying to start it I get a msg that the program can not be found.I went to the Market download and it was shown that it was installed but that there was an Update for it. Updated and everything was fine. (Did the Dev's for that app do a push to inactivate the app because the update was critical and had to be installed?)Now just last week I updated the Application Where and after the update when trying to run it from a home screen or from the App menu it would say program not found. I had to actually go to Market--Downloads hit Where and then when the app screen popped up with the Open and Uninstall button at the bottom use the open button to get it to run.I proceeded to uninstall the program and reinstall and still same problem.I wrote Where and told them of my problem on Friday.Yesterday Tuesday I got a response.They changed their name from Where to WHERE and it was causing problems and that I should delete any homepage icons and use the menu Icon.I then went to the menu icon hit it and the program ran. The thing is there was no updates. I did a uninstall/install on the program. tried to run the program from the menu Icon and no success Now after an email from WHERE I go to the icon on the menu screen and it works.
