Android :: GluLookAt Not Working Despite Using Push/PopMatrix For Transforms
Aug 9, 2010
I'm trying to use gluLookAt in an Android app to move the "camera" around, but I'm not seeing any results. I've looked around and I gather that any glLoadIndentity() calls will reset the matrix, cancelling the effect of the gluLookAt.
Problem is, no matter what I put in my gluLookAt call, nothing moves.
So here's the relevant part of my surface setup:
CODE:.............
And then my frame-drawing method is:
CODE:.............
And here's an example of the draw() function of my objects, which essentially draw a bunch of elements:
CODE:...........................

I have one gmail account, using the default gmail app. I also have a separate gmail account, using Exchange ActiveSync. Push does not work for either of my two gmail accounts.
1. default gmail. It just doesn't push. Today, i went thru the entire day without noticing the email. at 9PM today, I realized that i had missed an email sent at 8am. The only reason I knew this was because I checked my gmail on my computer. So I tried hitting refresh on my incredible's gmail. After a few seconds, the email showed up, 13 hours after it was originally sent. I kept on sending test emails to my gmail, and it just does not show up on my incredible until i hit refresh. this is supposed to be push email...what's going on..?
2. default "Mail" app - exchange activesync. At 9pm, i realized that I had missed 4 emails from throughout the day (a different gmail account). I went into the settings to make sure that the frequency was set to "as items arrive" and realized that it was set to Manual. I thought, aha, i should change this, and i should be fine. However, i realized that I kept on failing to change the setting.

Got my Desire hooked up to Exchange without problems and it all works, with the exception of push emails. Basically new emails only arrive when the phone initiates a sync.
I have the relevant options enabled on the server and can't see anything related to push on the handset so I'm a bit lost as to why this doesn't work.

I have the Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S), on T-Mobile. I just downloaded the 1.0.4 version for Wordfeud on 8/25. Originally, a week or so ago, i was receiving the Push Notifications. Now it is NOT sending a notification, on either v1.0.3 or v1.0.4. And yes, the Push Notification is check marked.
I have 2 friends that have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S model and are getting their notification when i play a word against them. One has v1.0.3 and the other v1.0.4.

For awhile, my Facebook push notifications were working just fine until I had updated to Jelly Bean. I tried everything.. to clearing cache, data, uninstalling, and even the BlackBerry trick again (worked once before) and couldn't for the life of me figure out why they weren't working anymore. I thought maybe it was Facebook clashing with JB. I read everywhere and found out some people had no issues and some had some where every push notifications didn't work and some just Facebook.
Well I spend a day or so trying to figure it out and finally found a new, simple fix.
1) Open the Facebook app.
2) Tap on menu button on the top left
3) Account > Account Settings
4) Apps and Websites
5) Clear out Facebook related apps (Like Friendcaster or HTC Sense)
6) Clear data on the Facebook app and launch app
I noticed some off the apps in there have a push notification toggle button and I believe it was messing up the push notification system of there was to many to keep up with.
Once I spent 20 mins clearing those apps out, I cleared data and started the app notifications started working again. I didn't know it worked until someone wrote on my wall and I was shocked to see a notification!

I've had no problems with push email from gmail to my Desire since I had it - about 2 months ago.
Today though it's not popping up notifications.
I've tried clearing the gmail cache but still the same.
Does anyone know if it's my device or google issue?

Using the stock Messenging app with the universal inbox. I have a couple of IMAP accounts setup and push turned on. Something odd happens to the Messenging app that prevents it from getting mail. It will hang quite often to the point where no mail is received at all until it gets unstuck (sometimes up to a half hour). If I go into the email account, it shows the spinning arrows as if it is trying to sync, but it just spins.
At first, I tried all the usual troubleshooting. I removed and re-added the e-mail accounts. I turned push off and on. I rebooted. I tried just about everything I could think of, but this has been going on since I got the Droid X. I made sure it was set to sync even when wifi is off. I'm not sure what is causing it to hang, but I removed and added each account and it's still happening. Eventually, I'll get the emails but sometimes it takes a half hour or more before it frees itself up. I can't even use a Task killer to kill the messenger app because when I open it back up, the arrows are still spinning.

I'm looking at 3 different apps to develop for the Android, but I'm new to the platform (come over from Blackberry - yuck!).
Anyhow - I need to know if there is some way to push data to the phone from a server. I'd prefer to avoid using SMS to push (user charges), or constantly polling the server (lets see, every 5 seconds = 12 times a minute, 720 times an hour, over 17000 a day)

I have a strange problem with Push email on my HTC Desire. I can set this up no problem - email comes in but only manually. I cannot get the push to actually work. When I go into the send receive schedule I can set up the days/hours for peak off peak and push but regardless of what I set these to be, when I go back to the previous screen it always says the Schedule is Manual. I've tried setting up lots of variations from manual through timed to push but still the same. Net result is push never seems to happen - manual overrides my schedule. To pick up email I have to go into email and do a manual sync.

Doing some investigating and having troubles find specifics or how to raise issues. I send WAP push message to handsets yet have been testing the android handsets yet they are not recieving them. All versions of Android are affected. Other devices platforms dont have any issues "WinMo, Symbiam list goes on" Wierd thing I have tested it on a an HTC running Android with Sense UI and messages are received. What I would like to know if possible is anything happening to these messages or Could the device be intercepting it and trying to interprt in another applicatiuon? Could the device be recieving these messages yet not know what to do with them discard them? I have tried the dirreferent versions of WAP yet none work. Is there a module inside android not turned on. How would I request a change for android "if thats even possible"

I have a question about WAP PUSH SMS on Android. In Mobile device, if you want to receive a WAP PUSH SMS, you need to degrade the SMS security policy level. Then you can acturally receive it. But I have no idea about how to do this on Android? I try to modify the androidmanifest.xml that contains "android.permission.RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH" and change the permission from dangerous to normal. But there is too many androidmanifest.xml, I don't know where the exact path I should be modify? Does any one know how to do that or my thought is wrong?

I have the Sprint Hero, and I know that GTalk and Gmail do push. But what about all the other apps out there? Mainly IM apps. I realize how difficult it would be for a dev to utilize push, but what about a company like AIM that already has push notifications for the iPhone AIM app? The official AIM app was recently released, and I am dissapointed to see that it has no push notifications. That means, leaving it on in the background keeps the phone awake. I would really like to be able to leave my AIM on in the background without having to worry about my phone battery draining...

I know this has been discussed before, but I am looking to get an Android phone soon, coming from windows mobile, and have a few questions about getting email. With WinMO, there's an app to make hotmail push to my phone instantly, even though hotmail doesn't natively support push. From what I've read on here, the standard email app doesn't work with push from hotmail. But I really need to get this to work. I use my hotmail for my work, since my work server sucks. Frequently though out the day, everyone at work will get emails about upcoming work, and basically whoever responds first gets the job.
So having the phone check every 5 minutes wont do for me, since the job will probably already be taken. I have read about having gmail check the hotmail, but from what I can see, it will only poll every 5 minutes or so as well. I also heard about the K9 app, but from what I have read, it has some problems with hotmail. So, since I don't have an android to play with yet, for those of you who use K9 to push hotmail, how does it work? Are there any other options to get this to work? I've heard about setting up hotmail as an exchange server instead of an email server, but I'm not sure how that will work.

I have had a BlackBerry Curve 8900 for about a year without data and just put on the $15 200Mb plan because it was cheap enough. I knew 200Mb was enough on the BB because their push email didn't require much background data usage. After seeing how horrible the BB did on working with my Gmail account, I have leaned towards getting an Android.
My question is: Is the $15 plan going to provide enough data for me to use the Android? These are the things I plan on using with an Android: GMail sync, college email sync, Google Calendar sync, Google Contacts sync, and everything else, such as surfing the web, through WiFi (which shouldn't affect data usage). I don't know how well Android works with WiFi but I know BB can restrict its browser to only WiFi.

I know there had been a buzz around push messaging. my client has a chat application that allows chat/collaboration on desktops on which i use AJAX. We are using PHP for this on server end.
What i have to develop a client for android. here i have to develop a system using Push Technology, since it is not expected when the next message come.
I cannot use polling (at specified time) since this will cause battery lag.

As you well know, Android provides push mail just for 1 G-Mail account. I use 1 g-mail account for personal use and 1 for business, and I find the other e-mail program included a real mess....
However, a couple of days ago I heard that Google provided sync capabilities with PUSH gmail on other devices (Iphone, Blackberry -they had it already - , Symbian, and Windows Mobile).
So what I did is I took the Windows Mobile instructions found here: Google Sync : Set Up Your Windows Mobile Phone - Mobile Help
And plugged the settings into my Active Sync e-mail ("work e-mail", the one HTC included in the MyTouch 3g and puff I suddenly got push GMail for my second account as well.
Beware:
-you cannot archive like in Gmail and you will have to test the different features (does it delete from the server? do folders work?)
-as of now, only my incoming e-mail works. Outgoing e-mail acts like it's working but it doesn't send and doesn't show in the sent folder.
