I have created a table named train_table in SQLite database with 3 columns. they are train_id, train_no and train_name. Now, i wrote a class in which i displayed the train_name in a list view. how do i get the related train_no in the next page? can anyone help me in sorting this problem.?

I want to delete the row in the table that has Name myName.

Just as a note: myName is for sure in the database. Also, I can not use the ROWID since I am getting myName from a ListView.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on Android 2.1 and I have one multi column Custom listview Using BaseAdapter with an editable edittext at the end of the listview. If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

I am using expandable list view in my layout which contain list of fitness activities i have done on that particular day. I can see all the list of activities when i initially open my Activity. But when i add new activities, i can not see new activities in my expandable list view. How can i see my new activities when i come back from other screens?

I'm trying to allow a user to select a number of directories from a checklist, and return them upon clicking a "Submit" button. Here's a snippet of my code. It populates the List View with all the directories on /sd card/, and for the initial selection (of however many I pick) when I submit, the log shows the correct choices returned. However, if I un check an item, and click "Submit" again, it still shows as if all are selected. Do I need to write a handler to un check an item? I thought that was taken care of by the choice Mode selection?

And, of course, I want the TextViews, that might have different lengths, to be centered. I tried this in a table layout, for obvious reasons but I feel like this is not the way to do it because it doesn't have much control where I put everything once it is in a row. Should I be using a different combinations of layouts or is there something I overlooked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have an app on the market, and with an update I want to add some columns to the database. No problems so far. But I want to detect if the database in use is missing these columns, and add them if this is the case. I need this to be done dynamically and not just after the update to the new version, because the application is supposed to still be able to import older databases. Normally I would be able to use the PRAGMA query, but Im not sure how to do this with Android. I cant use execSQL since it is a query, and I cant figure out how to use PRAGMA with the query()-function.
Ofcourse I could just catch exceptions and then add the column, or always add the columns to each table before I start to work with it, but that is not a neat solution.
I am new on android and building an application which uses webservice to collect user information in XML. I also get path for a small jpeg picture of each user. (Currently there are about 200 users) I am parsing the XML and storing the information in SQLiteDatabase. Pictures are stored as blob and able to retrieve them.
I display names of users on listview with images as well. But is this a good solution for storing pictures in SQLite Database ? or should consider storing it in file system ? Which is suitable in terms of performance , as well as memory and any other pro and cons on Android.
Also like to know which is best performing XML parser for Android ?
My purpose is only to parse xml files which I get through web services and sort out the data to store in storage. And lastly my memory goes off easily when I load all images to display in list view after making thumbnails of each (which is obvious).
Was wondering is there any library/framework/app available which dynamically loads images as and when required (when that list item is on display) something like Gallery program ?
I am trying out this table layout in which there are three columns, each column utilizing the maximum space as they could (using strechColumn tag). Now when a column gets content which is too long, then table layout jumps of the screen.
How can i set the content of a column to wrap, so that table layout dont jump off the screen.

Now i want to insert the contents of these two files into a single table with the schema

My program reads the first file line by line and insert the data into the first column. But if it reads the second file and tries to insert the data line by line into the second column, it doesn't work the way i want. A table which i want should look like following
linefrompart1 linefrompart2
lili like eating apple
lucy like playing football
But instead i got the following table
linefrompart1 linefrompart2
lili null
lucy null
null like eating apple
null like playing football
Does somebody know how i can fix this problem?
Is it possible for my android application to dynamically adjust the no of column and no of row of my TableLayout based on orientation?
For example, when in landscape mode, the TableLayout is 3x2 and when
in portrait mode, the TableLayout is 2x3?
I have a listview that is populated by a couple threads that pull in data from the network. Before that data comes in, there are some default values displayed. When the screen loads, there are 6 items displayed, each with the default data. The 1st (index 0) loads and is updated on the screen, and then number 6 (index 5) is updated with that same info. Then, item 2 (index 1) loads, and then item 5 (index 4) mirrors that data. Then item 3 loads, then item 4 reloads with the correct data, then then item 5 with the correct data, then item 6. Why are items 5 and 6 briefly showing the data from other elements in the list? I can't figure out what in the world could be causing this.

This works fine, but what I would expect is that if the _ID of the contact is 1 that the _ID of the phone number is as well one since they belong together, but they are not equal. So the question is how does Android match these entries?

I have read earlier posts and already found the solution to get TimeZone information from the "System.currentTimeMillis();" method. However, I need to translate the TimeZone (as like, "Asia/Taipei") to the UTC bias that it has to be (as like, "UTC+8" or other formats). Does anyone know the actual API solution?
