Android : Best Email App - Send And Recieve Emails - Doesnt Syncronise
Apr 18, 2010So my inbuilt email app works with my hotmail account and i can send and recieve emails, but it doesnt syncronise so when i delete an email on my laptop and then reload my email on my phone the email is still in the inbox.
Basically i just want an email app that lets me delete things and actually delete them rather than just deleting them on my phone and not on the actual server and obviously being able to send and recieve emails would also be good.

Sep 8, 2010when i am talking to a friend, i do get call waiting alerts,however when i recieve a new text there is no sound or vibration, even though the phone will be on either vibration or normal mode. i couldnt find any apps to solve this either.

Jun 28, 2010I have an app that has two buttons one for email & one for SMS. Depending on the button pressed I want to email or else SMS a certain text. I have coded the email button and it is working fine. The problem is that the dialog box that pops-up gives an option of e-mail or Messaging the text. I want to separate out the two, so that when the user presses email, only the options of email is there, and when the user presses SMS, only the option of Messaging is there.

Nov 19, 2009In my app, user starts a service and shows a notification from activity A. The notification creates a Pending Intent that will invoke activity A should the user tap on it. The problem with this behavior is that, if the user starts the service (which shows the notification), drags down the notification bar, then taps the notification, I now have two activity A's in the display stack, one on top of the other and both exactly the same. How can I re-use the original activity A in this situation so the user isn't duplicating activities?

Jul 22, 2010I want to setup a part of my application that allows users to send a quick email to another user. It's not very hard to set this up:
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);

intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, subject);
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, message);
Intent mailer = Intent.createChooser(intent, null);
startActivity(mailer);
However, the problem is that the ACTION_SEND is accepted by more than just email programs - for example, on my phone the Facebook app, Twitter, reddit is fun, and even Bluetooth come up as viable alternatives for sending this message. The message is entirely too long for some of these (especially Twitter). Is there a way to limit the chooser to just applications that support long messages (such as email)?

Nov 18, 2010I use HandecentSMS to text and I can send and recieve, but when I do recieve them I can only read in the quick reply screen and the notification bar, but it won't show up in my conversation screen so it looks like I am talking to myself. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still won't work properly.

Jul 28, 2010I once had a samsung jet which was great but it was on orange and i wanted it on 3 because i recieved a better signal and wanted their push email. But when i put my three sim into my now unlocked Jet i found that i lacked 3's certificates and couldn't tether or get 3's push email.Anyway this made me decide to upgrade to a 3 hero to gain their functions however it seems their are no "certificate" needed and the hero seems to have its own push email service and can tether easily.SO my question is if i debrand my hero and thus can ugrade to 2.1 android will i still recieve free push email and be able to tether? as i guess if i change my rom it might be hard to go back.

I have been a long time Blackberry user and made the switch to Android just yesterday morning and really love it. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
I have noticed that a couple of times I get the email notification sound but there is no email. A couple of minutes later I receive an email with its own notification sound. Another time, I heard the notification sound AND the new email icon on the top left of the screen but there was no email. Several minutes later, the email was delivered to the handset.
The email accounts that I have set up on the handset are one yahoo with mail plus, and one gmail account. I believe the issues happened with the gmail account.

Feb 16, 2010Over the past week or 2, several times now, I'll get a series of email notifications (sometimes as many as 10 or so, a few seconds apart), but then there won't be any messages. I'll check later, but still nothing.
I have a POP, gmail and an exchange account.
I'll also sometimes have POP email keep coming back, sometimes 5+ times, after deleting it every time. It may be 30 minutes later, or hours later.

That's why I'm a slave to my blackberry, I can set certain work emails as priority 1, and assign a different tone to those from certain addresses. Mar 18, 2010Apparently my T-Mobile G2 (HTC Hero) multi-tasks. Why is it then, that I might be playing a game (say Puzzle Attack) and I get a new email notification. I slide down the notification bar, click the email notification, read the notification, go back to Puzzle Attack and it takes me to the main menu. This happens on, I think, every single game I have played. Is there something that the app developers can do to force the app to close instead of simply going to the background? Is it *really* multi-tasking?

Aug 20, 2010I was wondering if there was an app that would cause an android phone to vibrate and/or play an audible notification every 2-5 min until all notifications are cleared form the task bar. I have a client who has moved from a Blackberry to a Droid 2 (thank god I hate those damn Blackberry's) and he used to receive these "reminder notifications" when he didn't open his emails or texts right away. I searched the app store up and down from my Incredible but could not find anything.

Feb 14, 2010Can I receive a broadcast event in an activity? I've seen this done in broadcast receivers but not in an activity. In particular I would like to receive an event when a bluetooth device is found. ACTION_DISCOVERY_FINISHED.
Do I need to declare that in the activity intent filters? Should I be using permissions for that? How do I define the callback to handle that in the activity when i get receive the action?
