Android :: Does Android 1.5 Saves Fpu Regs On Context Switch?
Mar 10, 2010
i'm asking 1.5 and up or is it dependant on what's in ".config" when compiled for my phone?(and yes, i know that android has to support processors with soft-float, but several libm on different phones do have hard-float libm)(please provide -if possible- any link to/file name of context switching function for msm 7200A/7201A)

I got the snesoid app and it's awesome and the roms work great, but I can't save at all! I will play the game for a while and then when I close out of the rom and go do something else on my phone, I'll come back and the game data has been deleted! Is there a patch I need for this?

I only heard about this today from a telus rep. I thought apps were saved to internal when that was full it moved to sd automatically. No it only goes to internal memory DANG! so that means i can only have a few downloaded at a time. Whats the solution? Will 2.2 fix it? I heard 3.0 will?

Snesoid seems to solely rely on save state files and not on actual battery saves used on the original cartridges (.sav) files. These are also smaller in file size and using these instead of savestates makes it feel more like playing an SNES (not being able to use savestates) but relying on the games own way of saving your progress. These .srm battery saves are easy to find so it's much easier to load up my Super Mario Kart with special courses unlocked
Gameboid for GBA games uses the actual battery pack saves, .sav files...
So why isn't snesoid able to do this or am I doing something wrong? I use the Motorola Droid.

How can I launch a contextmenu from a contextmenu? I'm trying to replicate the MediaPlayer action that happens when you long click a song, then click "Add to playlist" in the resulting contextmenu. When you click that menu item, another contextmenu pops up with "Add to playlist" as the title, and "Current playlist", "New", and however-many-playlists-you-have defined after that.

I backed up everything from Android using MyBackup Pro. I upgraded from "2.1 leak v1" to "2.1 leak v3". I used MyBackup Pro to restore all of my apps. Is there any way to trigger getting app update notification? I know I could just reinstall all the apps via the regular market and from that point forward I would get the updates. But this really defeats my purpose of restoring using the MyBackup Pro app. I there an app that saves/reinstalls apps correctly so the market sees the updates properly?

So two things here. Iv been playing star ocean: the second story, and for any of you who know the game, im up to the part where clik is detroyed and you watch the fmv of the earthquake. Problem is, after the fmv ends, im left looking at a black screen, and it gets stuck there.
Does anyone else have a problem like this? can it be fixed? Iv thought about maybe using a different iso of star ocean, or another file type, but if i were to do that, could i still use the savegame iv been using with this one? and if so, how do i do that? i dont want to lose what iv done so far if i need to use a different file.

I should've known better than to update Handcent. It was working fine before. I just installed the latest update (been available for a while though) the other day, and ever since i'm unable to send MMS messages. Naturally, Handcent must resize the pics prior to me sending them, which is normal. But when it shows it's resizing, it goes back to the main messaging screen and "saves message as draft". Since Handcent doesn't have any option for drafts, i have to use the stock app to access drafts then send the message. If i've already got a convo open and attach a pic, it still saves as draft but is accessible from the main screen as usual.
I also noticed if i take a pic, or select a pic from the gallery then choose to share it via Handcent, it never opens Handcent and reverts back to the camera again. Anyone else having odd issues like this or know how to resolve it?

I am trying to stop Google Chrome from saving my searches. I have already done the following:
1. On Google home page, click "Settings-->Search settings".
2. Towards the bottom of the page, click "search history".
3. Click "Turn Web History off".
Now, when I search on my desktop, the searches are not saved. However, if I do a Google search from my phone through Google Chrome, the search will be saved. The search will not be saved if I do the search through the stock browser. I don't know how to stop this from happening. Is it something to do with Google Now maybe?
I am using a HTC Butterfly S 901s, running Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.

I recently rooted my Epic 4G following this guide: joeykrim-SDX Permanent Root for Epic (and Verizon Fascinate).I then went ahead and removed some of the "bloatware" applications using this guide here: [GUIDE] How to Remove Pre-Installed Apps for FREE - xda-developers.I did successfully root my phone, and the applications I removed are no longer there, but now the shortcuts that can be placed in the Home (or any section) no longer remain after I shutdown the phone. Widgets and Folders on the other hand do get saved by the phone and remain after a reboot.Is there something that I may have removed that shouldn't have been? and if so is it easy to recover? Would a custom ROM fix this situation? Or is there a program that I can use to restore all the default applications (without un-rooting).

There is an application called QVOD that downloads videos to a local cache on the Android device, and for many devices it works just fine. For many devices however. If the device is running ICS, frequently the playback features stuttering audio. I have found where QVOD saves the video files, although it separates them into several pieces, making it difficult to just browse to that directory and use an alternative player, such as MXPlayer. I have found that if you cat the files together into one RMV file, you can then watch it with another application and it plays just fine. That means the audio codec built into QVOD is almost certainly the problem.
What I'd like to do is build a simple graphical app that allows you to view the videos in that folder and automatically cat the files together so you can either save them or view them in another player. Having some background in programming, I understand the process flow of this is very simple. Unfortunately, I do not know how to program in java. Ideally, it would be great if the makers of QVOD addressed the problem directly, but having spoken with them on QQ, it doesn't seem they have any interest in doing so.
I don't see this program taking more than a hundred lines or so, and would be a great contribution to the Android community.The application will SURELY get a lot of attention, because it will not only allow those with audio problems to enjoy their videos, but it will allow those that aren't having problems viewing to at least save the files and also have a CHOICE of what application to view them in.

I'm confused about the concept of the Context class. I see that it's a base class of Activity, but the Android docs also mentions the Context storing global information about the app environment. So in my app which has 3 activities, does that mean I have 3 distinct Context objects, or do they actually refer to 1 entity? Also, what is the lifetime of a Context object- does it live until the last component of this activity's process is garbage collected?

i have got a stupid question to ask. I created a custom ContextMenu. But when i call the menu, the menu displayed will also have the default menu added in. Is there anyway for the default ContextMenu not to appear as well?Code requested: @Override public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenuInfo menuInfo)
super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, menuInfo);
MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater();
menu.setHeaderTitle("Recipients");
inflater.inflate(R.menu.menu_contacts, menu);

When you are developing on an application level(Services, Activities) you always get this Context reference automatically. But what if I am on a lower level and developing a program started with app_process, how can I get hold of a Context then? Its a huge part of the API that need this context. What the proper way to create a Context instance?

This folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.

I often run into the following dilemma: I need some singleton-like object in my app (typically some central manager-like thing) and this object needs a context for various things. This means that I either have to pass a context to all methods needing one or have some sort of init-pattern to the object. Neither is pretty I think. What is the correct way of doing this? Or is this simply (even the definition of) a Service?

I'm considering creating a singleton wrapper for a Context so my model objects, if necessary, can open and read from a database connection. My model objects do not have access to a Context, and I'd like to avoid needing to pass a reference to a Context from object to object.I was planning to place into this singleton a reference to the Context returned by Application.getApplicationContext(). This singleton object would be initialized in my custom Application instance before anything else would need to or have a chance to use it.Can anyone think of a reason to not do this?
